@Whyhero A+ for the idea. We need much more different causes of death other than Zeds or other players. Your post pretty much describes how I would like it to be.

Does anyone know the name of Dean Hall In-Game?
Calvin Candie replied to EHNR's topic in General Discussion
Hey everyone. Dean Hall here. Just wanted to say it was me on that server named "Dean Hall" back there. Shame you did not stay. We could have played together. Sincerely Dean Hall P.S. I usually play as Dean Hall so people know it is me. So if you run into any Dean Halls don't be a stranger. I usually stop by to say "hi" and "thanks for playing". P.S.2 I am posting this from my friends account because my mum is cleaning my room now. But it is me. Dean Hall Cheerio! -
Here is a wild idea. Fit the range finder on the sniper. Whoa, you dont need the scope anymore.

Thoughts on the new .50 Update...
Calvin Candie replied to Schweinsteiger's topic in General Discussion
I have always been very positive and understanding of the development cycle and every new update, but... ...0.50 is a big disapointment for me. I REALLY dislike the direction this update took. Do we really need the Deringer? Really devs? That is the item that needs to get imported now? Several more types of AK rifles? I know that making items is a seperate thing from making of new engine or coding and fixing new bugs ect. And it goes in its own pace regardless of the general progress of the development. But I do not even like new items. Derringer is completely useless and I am not talking about firepower. It is a weapon used with much concealment and you basically can whip it out of your sleeve. What good is that in DayZ engine (present one on the future one) when you have to hold it up high like a Magnum? Complete waste of development time IMHO. In what scenario would the Derringer be present in post-Soviet country in that time period? In know the game is fiction but hey lets put in dirt bikes and spaceships because they are "cool"... Ak rifles? I am not even going to waste any more words on this... I want more types of clothes, MUCH more variety in shirt type, color, hats, pants, new animals, new house types, new player models (short, tall, fat, slim), reworked Inventory ect. One thing I greet are couple of new backpack types. Oh yes, the Welding mask...who in the name of sweet Jesus is determining what items get worked on? I think you (devs) need to step it up a notch, enough with this "we are happy with breadcrumbs" bs -
We need a Hardcore (aka Survival) Mode

I am all for this! Dayz is a good platform, hope the devs are reading the forums! -
KoS as part of the zombie infection
Calvin Candie replied to leviathanapsu's topic in General Discussion
Excelent theory, I love it. Simple, yet explains everything without going into too much make-believe. But only one question. If the first simptom of infection is excessive eating, are we all destined to become zombies at one point? Or some manage to fight it off? How does it work? -
Hey everyone, Hacking is making a lot of people avoid packed 40/40 servers as those servers by rule attract hackers. People do not want to loose their character to a teenage kid playing God. I do not understand programming, zeros and ones, coding or any of the high tech mumbo jumbo might as well all be in mandaring chinese to me. Can someone please explain why the Devs and Battleye people cannot fix hacking? Here is how I see it from my layman perspective: hackers modify files to insert scripts into the official servers. These scripts let them teleport, strip clothes of people and whatnot. Now for the big one: If an OUTSIDE source is tampering with files on the official server would it not be easy to intercept that tampering by Battleye or Devs? Is there not some kind of trace of intrusion which Battleye could intercept and snap off? There are files coming and going. There are files being modified. This really cannot be traced? On the risk of sounding like a complete idiot let me ask this: If someone sticks his hand through the window of your house and steals something, you will be able to spot him if you look, will you not? I just cannot comprehend that someone can upload files or manipulate existing files on the official server and that these actions cannot be tracked and dealt with. Please understand I do not get any of this so please explain it to me like you would to a 5 year old :) P.S. Hacking is a sensitive subject here and I know most threads like this get deleted by the Admins, who are doing a good job IMHO. Hope this thread can swim in the waters of productive discussion to explain this problem to the layman. If it gets out of line, I expect it to be deleted. Thanks

Just kind of a "survey/experiment" test if SA early access was released today
Calvin Candie replied to TheWizard14's topic in General Discussion
I would feel the same way about it: estatic! Because it is my favorite game made into standalone. But, if we are talking about the progress itself, I am dissapointed. I guess I was not aware of the development part for a game. I thought progress is much faster. -
Last time I checked the official forum language was English. How about we all post on our native languages? :) Cmon people... Don't even get me started on clans that recruit members by posting a thread on general forums of the game.

First impressions, 10+ hours later
Calvin Candie replied to hammy55's topic in New Player Discussion
@hammy55 I was once in the phase where you are now. Same thoughts going through my head. Similar dillemas. Stay cool. Stay on the good side. Find a buddy to play with. Keep spreading the good vibe. P.S. you will die from bandits. People will betray you. Some even in the most evil ways. But do not give in to brutes. Stay friendly. P.S.2 if you are an EU based player, send me PM and I'll be happy to meet in Chernarus :) -
Depends. It is a gun which performs the same way as the normal 1911. It has a different texture. Is this something rare? Will one be able to trade it and receive more in return then if one traded with a regural 1911? By my standards it is not rare.;)

I suddenly realise i'm a collector.... Is this just a phase?
Calvin Candie replied to 100ftjesus's topic in General Discussion
Hey man. I am a hoarder as well. I collect and pile survival gear. Here is how it works. Medical supplies first. Usually I carry 5 med kits divided by groups: bandages, injectors, saline bags, tablets and miscelaneous medical items. Second, survival kits. Protector cases. Compass, matches, knife, cantine, rice. Third, tools. Axe, pickaxe, shovel, fishing rod, bow. The list goes on. When persistance will be solid and working I will have a growing stock. Medical supplies are most important in an apocalypse. And hell yes. I do get attached to my gear. :) P.S. I like having a stock. And pride on having usefull stock to benefit others. But in the end it is only stuff. I value life more then stuff. Having a buddy by your side is more important then hoarding stuff. As the great Muhammad Ali once said when asked how wealthy he was: "The gold has no ears to listen And no heart to understand It cannot bring you comfort Or reach out a helping hand So when you ask God for a gift Be thankfull if he sends Not diamonds, pearls or riches But a love of real, true friend!" So collect stuff, but ask yourself: am I doing it for the right reasons? ;) -
I read somewhere on this forum a similar idea. You get one life. You play. A day. A month. Even a year if you are good. You die. Everything after that are events rolling out, noone in your control. Soon as the black screen of death dissapears, the prescrypted subprogram takes over. The game uninstalls itself from the hard drive. Dayz is no longer in your Steam library and you cannot install it again on that particular computer. To access this mode, you first answer several questions on a form provided to you upon selecting the mod in main menu. Questions range from "Do you like nice weather?" to "Would you enjoy drowning cute puppies?" If you play your cards right, you are granted to the mod. ;) Enjoy you freakishly bored people of Dayz community!

Lock picking from a lockpicking hobbyist
Calvin Candie replied to Pokerguy12's topic in General Discussion
In "The Walking Dead", which I consider closest visualisation of Z-apocalypse up to date, I have not seen anyone lockpicking. Probably because it is too dangerous to stay in one place for 15-20 minutes or more being deeply concentrated on something size of an ashtray as your visual cone narrows and you are not aware of your surroundings. Besides, breaking the door or a window is much faster. Only thing you risk is noise but you not going to do it in a street full of Zeds anyway. That being said, the Original Poster's idea is not going to work here in my opinion. Nevertheless, he did an awesome job on bringing the lockpicking closer to an average man so I give can of beans. -
This game could literally become one of the few legendary games like Diablo, Heroes of Might&Magic, Doom, Quake, Warcraft-Starcraft. But will it? I hope so. Long way to go
-
I absolutely love it. For example after 30mins of sneaking around NWAF, seeing nobody in sight but being very carefull, I fire a shot without warning near my friends feet to mess with them and they litteraly sh** themselves yelling "we are under fiiireee, run for your liiivees"

how about the servers with 8 times more loot?
Calvin Candie replied to kakysas666's topic in General Discussion
Count me in for the rescue team. And after we take care of the item infestation problem by safely stashing at least dozen tents of high end loot, we can sing Kumbaya together and draw flowers on pieces of paper in Berezino. I also only eat berries so we can go collect some in our yellow raincoats. -
Da' great moments ... of organized group play
Calvin Candie replied to GodOfGrain's topic in General Discussion
Nice story, cool. My group of 6 gathered in Gorka once and we ran to Elektro without wearing pants on. That is as far as we went concerning tactics. I would love to play tacticaly like your group. -
Trading M4 for a 2 (two) tents on 3rd person. Please PM me here and we can discuss the details. Ray

Speculation about "coming" loot system(s)?
Calvin Candie replied to Zeppa's topic in General Discussion
I think this system will not work. For example, you will have part of a helicopter that is nearly impossible to find. So you find it, assemble the helicopter and then crash it after 1 minute of flying because it is your first time flying. When will be the next time? In 2 years if you are lucky to find that part again. Too frustrating, it is a game after all. I am not saying fill each server with loot but make all items spawn on each server, even with 0.5% probability. Thus making it possible for those willing to spend time searching and yet rare enough not to loose value. -
Mookie's guide to helicopter hunting
Calvin Candie replied to Mookie (original)'s topic in General Discussion
Thanks Mookie, for telling everyone where are the best crash site routes. Really. Thanks for nothing :D To be serious, I agree with you and I can confirm that Green Mountain is the most prosperus run if you intend to look for helis on purpose. Scouting the crash site and looting tips are also spot on. -
Really? I am fully geared once I feel safe. Meaning my bodily needs are satisfied and I have a mosin or better weapon on me. Everything else is just a bonus.
-
Hey man. Where was this? Was is in the military base at Veresnik? Prison, 2nd floor? I had a blue UN berret, green mountain backpack. Opened the door on the second floor and got killed. Never saw who did it. Sounded like mosin. Was that you? P.S. I do not mind but that was the first time someone killed me on sight after a month. :) And I lost 4-5 very nicely packed medkits!

Rule number 1 when teaming with a stranger: TALK. Get to know him/her. You will find out a lot about them. If it sounds sincere, then great! Share food, share items. You will connect and keep playing. If you see they are dodgy or full of crap or 10 years old, just say goodbye and leave. My statatistic is roughly 1 death per 10 encounters. I always roam around NW part of the map. Made some friends, have some great stories to tell. Deaths I forget, those were asshat people anyway!

DayZ Game Question / long time no play
Calvin Candie replied to Dandiser's topic in General Discussion
Yep, free hacking pass only costs 23 euros. Bans should be IP related or some other way so you cannot come back.
