Why? Engine is crap, thats why it runs clunky. What you were watching is a completely new engine. Besides, look at far cry 3. Huge world. No clunkyness
-
Even the best squads get annihilated by a hidden rooftop snipers. I have seen good squads of 4 and 5 people defeated against 2 stealthy motherfuckers. Its how you use what you have, not how many people you have by your side.

What is new with animal AI?

Hello there Nancy. :) Would you like a nice pink dress with that? Joking aside, whatever keeps your morale up in survival situation works. I like the story about the prisoner who pressed his pants. I guess it reminded him who he was, even under extreme pressure and stress. Back to the subject, they need to put rugged beards in game. If you find a knife and a canteen/lake you have an option to shave.

I'm not one that criticize's early access games but...

Imho 3 things are vital: 1. New engine 2. New zombie AI 3. Persistence When we see improvement in any of these 3 areas people will stop complaining like the OP. Until then, be patient. I am also frustrated and those weekly dev reports make me laugh. Talk about selling balls as kindeys. But I dont know anything about programing so what can I do. I suppose wait. :P Good luck devs, and good job so far...I suppose... :P ;) -
How and where in the hell do you shave in the apocalypse?? Do i go on scavenging runs and pick up shaving cream and razor on the way?? I never could get this. Why fucking shave? Its not like you will be attending any important meetings anytime soon...

Yes, thats what I want to know too. Could this mean...that...persistance.......is working now?? If yes game is 99% complete far as I am concerned.

Oh exactly how I felt when I started to play the Mod. Scared as hell and the soundtrack there was brilliant made the feeling even more intense. Find the soundtrack on youtube and you will see what I mean.In the Mod you could not melee with hands, you only had a worthless pistol with one clip. After that you were pretty much screwed and forced to hide and go around Zeds. Those were the days. -
What do you think about vests? Too military? They look like hunting clothes to me no matter what the description sayz so I wear one.UPDATE Today I found a new persistent server to settle on. It has constantly over 40 people online (max 50) so I am looking forward to some interesting situations. I made my camp in the middle of the map. I have several key points close by, such as a small lake and good hunting grounds. It is a fairly hidden spot yet close to some big towns. My hunting has improved much today and I have killed 2 bucks. I still waste 3-4 arrows before I get the kill though. I have planted a rabbit trap in the clearing and hope it works. On my scavanging run I found couple more wire kits. If the traps prove usefull it should be a nice contribution in meat. Biggest obstacle so far is rain and cold weather. I cannot start the fire during rain. The meat takes ages to cook in the cold weather, yesterday it took about 30 minutes and they burn relatively quick after being done! Concerning safety, I forfeit my original plan to store an SKS in my camp. When I was collecting feathers I found a repeater and found out it used the same ammo as my Magnum. So I took the repeater and stashed it aways close to camp. Hope it stays stashed. Looking forward to seeing if the camp is still there today.

Nice story. Kids these days huh? My favorite kill was in new Balota military base. To keep it short - me and 2 buddies were looting the base I hear an SKS fire oand shots landing near me. A hit. I am bleeding. Yelling through teamspeak. Another hit. I kiss the floor. Second hit broke my legs. Open my inventory, get the mosin in my hands. The whole freaking base is surrounded with forest and hills. Perfect for a sniper. I scope my mosin to a random point in the forest hoping to see the attacker. I spot him and see him fire another shot at me, missing this time. Pull the trigger, bam... He is dead. Patched myself up with rags and splints, just in time as my buddies reach me. All this happened in 10-15 seconds. I was proud of defending my self and that giant butt hole with SKS is loong gone.

You are playing with no guns whatsoever as I understand. Good luck with that. I will rely on loud gunshots from my magnum and shouting to scare the bandits. I hope the SKS stays unused.I feel safe with my magnum, although let's be honest. If an attacker is packing any kind of rifle, I will most likely soon be sent to the eternal hunting grounds.Concerning the bow, I killed one cow so far. It was interesting, exactly how I imagine an unskilled city boy would go about it in the wilderness. I shot all of my 3 arrows towards the unlucky cow and missed. Then I went to retrieve the arrows and found only one. On the next try I missed the cow again and lost the last arrow as well. So the cow lived and I had to go look for feathers once more. Then I learned I can load up to 5 arrows on the bow. Hardest part for me was getting close enough to land the arrow on the target. Once they start running it is hello goodbye.

Good job man. I have started playing this way after reading your post. Threw away my mosin and military gear.It is incredible how the experience transforms. I now have bow and 5 arrows and ashwood stick which will become fishing pole once I find the hook. I also carry self made backpack, axe and shovel, canteens and some other knick-knacks. Game is so much better and finnaly I have a goal at all times worthy of pursue. Get to this lake, get this material, go to that hill, get the pelts, prepare the neccesities for camp, find light and heavier clothes. And most importantly - I actually have to be carefull where I go. I cannot waltz into Zelenogorsk anymore like Rambo. I sneak around and carefully look for ashwood trees, chop them down get the sticks and get the hell out of there. I am still in doubt whether to claim the greenhouses in Zeleno. I want to plant tomatoes. There are several greenhouses next to the military base. I will most likely claim them but will leave all my stuff at the camp. Travel light. Concerning weapons, I do carry the magnum and some bullets. And I will look for an SKS and stash it in my camp. If anyone unfriendly ventures into my camp I need to protect myself. Thanks bro!

If they just smooth out the animations it would add to the realism greatly. When they iron out the controls too it will be a joy to play. Too bad the engine is outdated so much work is to be done.

Is it like shivering? It happens a lot. Light a fire and warm up, it goes away.

Hey man. Contact the the group "the medics of wasteland" or something. They got a thread here on the forums "looking for medical support" or similar name. They will help you out fast.

Was not the same situation. We chased a guy through the airfield coz he killed one of my people. He looted the crash site and logged off, we were too far behind every step. Bastard
-
Found a crash site on NWAF yesterday. Was pretty much empty, someone beat me to it :)
-
I am all for realism, so I second this. But then I would expect a lot morr content everywhere a lot more Zeds to compensate for the shortened radius of movement.

Green mountain broadcasts have never been proven and there have been attempts at catching these transmitions. The attempts egzist recorded on youtube. People have been sitting there for hours trying to catch the broadcast at the certain minute of the hour. All attempts failed but have they done it correctly, who knows. The testings have not proven the egzistance of the broadcasts. They also did not prove the broadcasts do not egzist. Interestingly, nobody dared to recreate the experiment during the night. All testings were done in broad daylight. Even back in the Mod this place gave people the chills. And for no reason it seemed. Here is my experience when I first went to the Green Mountain several years ago during the Mod dayz. First the approach. I can see the tower from far away. My thinking was "It should be a good place to make a base. A safe house. Military protection. Radio tower must be able to broadcast something. Radios are good. I will go check it out". The thought of something going on there, good or bad, keeps me on my guard as I am crossing big open space of the surrounding valley. The big open space. Does not help with tension. It is like I am being watched from 100 different sides. I finnaly enter the woods. "Safety" I think. I go deeper. The sunlight barelly struggles to reach the ground here. "Did someone saw me enter the woods? If they saw me in the valley they must know I am here now" I talk to myself like I am talking to a buddy. Shhhhhh... I hear something. Noise. Leaves moving. "What the hell is that shape there? Is that someone there!?"...fucks sake it is a bush..." I press on thinking "Haha that was a good scare, not as if I would admit that to anyone, but it was a good scare." Now there is no turning back. And there is still a good way to get to the top. I carefully scout the tower from the edge of the treeline. The only enterance to the compound is located in the front - even creeping through the broken concrete wall is not possible without that 50 meter dash towards the main gate. "Better than staying in the treeline" I think and as I separate myself from the last pine tree - a feeling of relief starts to calm over me because sunlight brightens the ground again. Sprinting. Running. Noise of equipment cluttering. I am at the gate. And then I see it. Terrifying sight of pile of two dozen bodies. Human dead meat in military uniforms twisted in agony. Fear goes through every bone in my body. I have seen it before, civilians, but here.. My heart is sweating. Feeling of helplessness. This was suppose to be safe haven. High point that is easy to defend. Radio tower. It can be used for emergency broadcasts. Big radio tower. Safety. Radios are good, aren't they? I go from calm to numb with fear. Death is running to get me. If two dozen dead soldiers are now pilled up on the ground like nothing, who am I to survive at this horrible place. I feel eyes on me. Death. Running towards me in any second from any direction. I began moving erratically, looking over my shoulders... I give myself a mental slap on the face to get my shit together. The sun is shining but I do not feel safe like before. In fact the opposite. "Mortal danger" sweeps through my mind as I take one last glance at the pile of bodies, what once were the guardians of this overrrun base. Flies hovering in a post-death frenzy creep me out. Not coming back.

Can someone more knowledgeable pls explain how much burden on the performance would be to insert for example 100 different skins? It would be great to have that kind of variety.

Even better. Hit someone on the head, get them unconcious, cut steak out of them. As they wake up, hand them the cooked steak and after the first bite ask "How do you like yourself?" This cannibalism thing creeps me out more than anything -

Reading from your tone, you were obviously genuine excited about that. I wish I shared your enthusiasm about this clipping isue. Not playing until bugfixing phase starts. -
I would appreciate if devs made bears specially attracted to ghillie suits :D

My wet noodle between my ears tells me lets throw out most of the canned food out of the house loot spawns and limit them to supermarkets and mil bases only. Now you got some interesting hot spots on the map and houses should be source of tools not food IMO. Rarely should we find unspoiled food in the house due to time passing or being already ransacked.
