Hello there If you read my post again, you will notice a small paragraph describing how DayZ Mod incorporated new players right into the game to get that "lost in apocalypse" feeling. I am not some crazy "everything I do not like is worthless" person. Rgds Cal

The beauty of the DayZ Mod was that there were no traning servers or offline mods. You would get thrown right in. Like the real apocalypse you would encounter inexperienced people running around scarred, learning things the hard way. Proper way. Offline mode...blah...

So I found myself in a zobmie apocalypse and oh looky I am almost naked by theres a glow stick in my hand. Where was I before the apocalypse? At a techno party? I droped out of a military chopper and could only grab a glow stick? I was at frolicking in a night pool at a warm brothers party? Realisssssm

By shuffling around my cfg. file I got steady 30-40fps in the cities. Problem is, players do not render either at normal distances so I couldnt spot anyone outside 500meters. Oh dayz why u no show love for us???

To the OP, why the urban legends and fan art died out... Players have explored the game many times over by now. The mistic aspect is gone. The game has been violated many times in and out. All is well know and there is no unkown. I played yesterday, although I said I will not play until next patch. I went solo and roamed the villages on the interior of the map. No zombies. No players. Sometimes I got the feeling back. But it soon disapeared to feeling bored. No threat. No challenge. Nothing to write home about.

Same thing with me. Came back after some months to check whats is new. Saw that the game had a 1GB or so update yesterday on stable. Same laggy crap as before. Waiting for the next patch.

Yep! They changed it to Zero once they saw Zombies will be bugged as hell. Lmao :D

Oh so we shifting from zombie survival game to a "survival game" where oh looky there are also zombies. I understand that fanboys absolutely LOVE this game,I do too (bought a new PC just to run DayZ better), but for the love of god. Stop telling yourself that a game called DAYZ with emphasis on the "Z" does not have main focus on the ZOMBIES! Dayz without zombies is one of zillion mods for ARMA where you can free roam a huge map and have continuus battles with factions or go lone wolf while having to cater to bodily needs. So DayZ actually has primary emphasis on Zombies, yes. It is another thing that people have subconciously start reverting from zombies because they are such crap right now. And for a long time.

So you accumulated stuff over several months and even avoided persistance problems and tents disappearing. Please do share how. :)

If you're a Dung Beetle, a piece of crap is good. Not just good, it is pretty great. Sometimes it's probably awesome. So yes, a piece of crap can be good. Like Dayz current state. It is crap, but we all like it so we talk about it and play it. See? XD EDIT I don't actually play Dayz ATM as it really is a piece of crap. But will later when bugs are fixed. A masterpiece it will be.

You know whats works to avoid getting annoyed by Dayz alpha broken gameplay? Not playing! Worked for me! Now I come to the forums every now and then and laugh at how people still loose their mind over Dayz, same as I once did. There are other games, until this one is finished. Go relax:)

Dayz is best at it's genre (online survial). But not best of all time. A lot of years and gamer generations have to pass through the game in order to call it a candidate for best of all time. Heroes of Might&Magic Settlers C&C Warcraft/Starcraft Quake ... One day this list will also have Dayz

I love the game but to anyone buying it, please be aware of the below-standard frames per second and lags when you get close to cities. The game is awesome, but performance is still low. I am looking forward to see it improve in the coming months.

Guys, take a look at the video reports from the recent fires in Siberia. Those places are stuck in ww2 era.Check out videos from Ukraine-Russian rebels conflict. South East Ukraine looks like Chernarus. Btw I was traveling through central Czech Republic two weeks ago. I can tell you, the landscape looks amazingly similar to Chernarus. I know they actualy copied a region in CZ to make Chernarus map, but to see it in real life was awesome.

What a heart-warming story. A solitary tear came down my eye at the bumraping part. We need blood and gore on the walls and floors though. I want to be able to recreate the event in my mind after I find a messy scene.

Players feel threatened from all sides. Bodily needs. Diseases. Zombies. Then we see another survivor looting houses ahead, and think "The hell you will...that loot is mine" There is now zero incentive to be anything but a sneaky backstabbing badstard towards strangers. And I am medic usually in my group, so this is difficult for me. One more thing. Specialisation, as in different playstyle roles, is gone now. Everybody are universal - survivor - bandit - scavenger - farmer - medic.

In continuation of this topic,music is a really big part of any game that can make or brake atmosphere. Dayz already has tons of atmosphere but music would enhance it even more. Are there any plans to implement music? Has anyone caught any words from the devs on it? I know it is beta talk but hey, we're getting there :D
