Kickass PC setup and weird performance
SpudGun (DayZ) replied to pabloottawa's topic in Troubleshooting
The rendering side of the engine is really dated (started out as DX7) and has had stuff tacked onto it for years. You can see this by how beautiful some aspects of the game look compared to how basic some others are. Other (more modern) engines have no trouble pushing more poly's while maintaing a more fluid experience, making use of newer (more efficient) CPU instruction sets and DX11+ features to push visual fidelity, albeit in a more confined and controlled environment. The devs have started work to seperate the render from the sim, but this is no small task so I'd imagine will take a while. read more here: http://dayzdev.tumblr.com/ -
Rolling Update Rev - 0.43.116251

I just checked, it's still the same version. (42.116181) -
As said above, running source at 30-60 FPS isn't gonna help here, for reference I can pull 200+ FPS in L4D2 yet still get ~35 fps in DayZ towns. This below might help ;) http://imgur.com/t4Gzn

Brian Hicks @Hicks_206 2 mins We're holding off on pushing to stable with the hotfix, as I want to gather more data. However, I'm turning on every exp server we have.(60) -

Tried a bit of the Hardcore experimental (AcceleratedTImeTest) and whilst it doesn't lag as bad as the previous build for me, there are still some nasty spikes; this time with added rubber banding. -

Cheers. -
Your 42" LED isn't "real" 120hz so if you are trying to run it at that you will have problems, also running two different refresh rates is known to cause issues.

That feedback page is about Zeds though?

Character not showing at home screen
SpudGun (DayZ) replied to Problematic's topic in Troubleshooting
If you are using launch options; remove -world=empty and -noIntro. If not then ignore this post. -

i5 2500k @ 4.8 - 8GB 1866 - ASUS Z68 PRO - MSI 780TF - X-Fi XG - 64GB SSD - 500GB HDD - Win 7 x64 In game settings Video: Rendering Resolution @ 2880/1620 / VSync OFF (use RTSS to frame limit @58 FPS). User Interface: Resolution @ 1920x1080 Textures: Video Memory - Auto / Texture Detail - Very High / Texture Filtering - Very High Quality: Objects - High / Terrain - Has no effect in game(server fixed at Normal). / Clouds - High / Shadows - High Rendering: AA - OFF / Alpha to Coverage - OFF / Edge Smoothing - FXAA Low / HDR Quality - Low / Ambient Occlusion - OFF (would have on but can't without PP at least Normal which I don't like). / PP - OFF I get 58 fps (capped) out in the open and drop down to around 30 fps in the larger cities. -

It's definately an ATi/AMD problem with the transparency, I had it on my 7970 but not on this 780. I stopped using AtoC however as although it makes the trees/bushes and grass look nicer; it makes spotting people in them (mainly trees) much harder due to them being fuller.
-
No worries. If there's nothing in the bios; through task manager I guess though I'm honestly not sure, not had an AMD CPU for 10 years now.

Maybe you can achieve higher OC with 4-5 cores disabled? The only way you'll speed up the render thread (main bottlekneck) is with brute force. Edit: Snippet form HardOCP: AMD did actually suggest that reviewers disable cores to hopefully benefit overclocking successes. Try disabling cores: disable cores 1,3,5 and 7 for optimal performance (Cores 0,2,4 and 6 remain active => 4CU/4cores active) disable cores 4,5,6 and 7 for optimal OC (Cores 0,1,2 and 3 remain active => 2CU/4cores active) Also did you try reducing view/object view distances? (For SA, may apply to others.)

Vsync off and max prerendered frames to 1 helps a bit with responsiveness. Still get stuck on everything though (banisters in particular). There seems to be a slight delay between letting go of W and actually stopping. Also things like drawing weaping, vaulting, even changing stance, has server related delay to it (aswell as some other quirks), which results in some real "WTF" moments.

Yep, or even the AN94
-
It will. But with careful gameplay tweaks it should be a matter of if it's worth it (to just KOS).

Pre built are not worth looking at. If you can build lego you can build a PC.

Runs the game, but want something a bit better
SpudGun (DayZ) replied to blissfulkunt's topic in New Player Discussion
The custom cooled and oc'd ones require one 6pin but still consume very little power: http://hexus.net/tech/reviews/graphics/66793-gigabyte-geforce-gtx-750-ti-windforce/?page=10 Really though if OP want's higher FPS he will need to OC that C2Q as far as it can too, as previously suggested. Also about not being computer savvy, everything you need to know about it (pretty much) can be found with a quick google search. As I just said in a different thread, if you can build lego you can build a PC. -

Or he was in 3pp using the "crosshair" to aim. -
Nah, GPU is fine for med/high settings @ 1080p, but if this was for gaming; why FX8350? 3570K is a tiny bit more but would stomp it at the same clock speed, plus not sure why you got just 4GB of RAM.
-
It's not been fixed in the sense you can't actually do it anymore, it's just BE is supposed to kick the player if certain .pbo's are missing. The problem with that is sometimes it can take up to "several minutes" to do so.

Got launch options set, which one of these removes character preview at menu?
SpudGun (DayZ) replied to wmike20052's topic in General Discussion
I think it was originally set to 2047 as ARMAII was a 32bit app and not large address aware so was limited to the amount of RAM it could use, It was however updated to run LAA so doing this now would most likely gimp performance (untested). Rather than using the maxmem commands there is another launch option which often goes unmentioned, -malloc=system this lets the OS dictate the memory/page file usage.
