Pending Changelog: Experimental Branch: 0.42.116002
SpudGun (DayZ) replied to rocket's topic in News & Announcements
Totally agree here, they can't remove the only way of getting out of these building without: fixing object/terrain collision, fixing the stairs and tweaking the insane fall damage. Some have suggested allowing respawn with broken legs but that's just the "easy way out", doesn't fix the real issue and isn't really hardcore survival. -
Sounds like arm is broke (experienced on experimental build) but not getting fractured status so unable to "fix" with splint/morphine.

first KOS. I think the forums made me do it!
SpudGun (DayZ) replied to Sistinas1973's topic in General Discussion
First off how did you know the first guy was all geared when you didn't see him? Anyways, had a similar experience myself, caught off guard at close proximity, in a pvp hotspot, at night aswell. I ended up blasting the guy with a shotty as he screamed "friendly please don't ki...". Too late. Made me feel real bad for a while. -

Mainly Scan's Today Only page. CPU+Mobo+RAM was a Super-Saver bundle ages ago, got the 780 Gaming when it was ~£320, case was from ebay (saved about £50 on that). -

4k downsampled to 1080p looks very crisp and detailed with almost zero jaggies. Granted Titans were silly money but this game doesn't need a 3 million euro PC to pull 4k res, mine cost less than 1k and can do it at about the same fps... -
who else is excited about the recent tweet from rocket?
SpudGun (DayZ) replied to mjf6866's topic in General Discussion
I agree about most guides making the game look like crap, just a shame so many are forced to do it to make it even remotely "playable". These are only distance tweaks, I didn't mind increasing the "fog of war" a bit in order to get some extra frames, pushing it too low severely impacts your ability to navigate though (unless you stick to roads). I am going to test 1500/1600, see if I can get the objects (trees building etc) to blend into the fog. -

I can't say I notice a difference between testing, minimum is always ~30 in these CPU limited scenarios. Did you try experimental? Comparing settings; the only things that should be having an effect is you are probably on default view distance of 3000/17xx.xxxx vs my 1500/1500 I also lowered shadowZdistance from 250 to 150 But then I'm using High object quality which is 750,000 scenecomplexity, so hmm..... Comparing rigs the 3.3 vs 4.8 2500k's and 1333 vs 1866 RAM will be a combined effect. GPU should not matter as we can see from utilisation. -

[Nvidia Users] A possible fix for Dayz crash to desktop
SpudGun (DayZ) replied to paradogz's topic in General Discussion
Nope, I'm using 334.89 and not getting driver hangs. I however don't have any of the other "bloat" installed i.e geforce experience, physx, 3d drivers etc etc. -

I just tested the spot with the settings mentioned in my previous post in this thread. Getting minimum of 35fps, I took a screenshot in afterburner as print screen wasn't working (just printing black screen) Edit: -
Dean himself was having this issue during the "studio tour" video, so I imagine it will be getting fixed sharpish.

Forced headbob for the sake of realism?
SpudGun (DayZ) replied to omgwtfbbq (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Even with the slider all the way down there is a little head bob still. If there was more I would not play anymore as it makes me feel sick... -
Please remove falling damage until you FIX the stairs/ladders
SpudGun (DayZ) replied to thequantum's topic in General Discussion
Seen a lot of people say they die to ladders and that they are one of the most dangerous things in DayZ but..... This. Random death on stairs can ususally (but not always) be avoided by not sprinting onto them. -

You overclocked by 300mhz over stock turbo, you're not going to notice much difference. Try for 4.5 to 5 then you will see a bit of a boost. Also experimental is better right now, I'm getting about the same fps in cities (~30) but with object quality on high compared to very low on stable branch. (rest of quality settings on high, AA off, FXAA low, HDR low, view distance @ 1500/1500 res @ 2880x1620). -
Paper jeans? Wetness shouldn't effect clothing durability, nor should it effect many items durability except maybe for example the box of matches.

Pending Changelog: Experimental Branch: 0.42.116002
SpudGun (DayZ) replied to rocket's topic in News & Announcements
Played a bit of experimental lastnight, New: Got a broken arm from fighting a Z, eventually fixed with splint. Seem to take a bit longer for healing to kick in when energised/hydrated (not sure if connected to fracture or coincidental). Bug: Found a(n obviously used) medium size backpack, that had in one slot an empty can of sardines, when I tried to remove it, it created a duplicate on the floor and wouldn't budge from the bag slot. Update: after logging off for the night and back on the next day the magic can of sardines was able to be dumped from the backpack without it creating dupes. Found a new bug though. Bug: Rain is falling as can I hear it and get wet/soaked but I'm not seeing it at all anymore. All quality settings are on High. -
Should the dot crosshair be removed from hardcore servers?
SpudGun (DayZ) replied to ztranger's topic in General Discussion
There's a few loot spawns that require looking at to pick up items as they won't pop in Vicinity. Thinking top of wardrobes/lockers/bunks etc. They should increase the player reach and item "hit" box slightly to combat needing to be so close and looking at a specific pixel, which would be nice. Has anyone tried this, WeaponCursor=1 for crosshair? -

Update Rev. 0.36.115535 (Experimental branch)
SpudGun (DayZ) replied to Hicks_206 (DayZ)'s topic in News & Announcements
If you mean you could somehow cheat death by not letting steam cloud update; then no that won't work as the player state will be saved server side. P.S Pulling the plug on an operational PC isn't good for it. I think the main benefit would be to save keybinds perhaps, although I recently re-formatted and re-installed Steam/Dayz and nothing was saved (yes cloud is enabled). -
Did you try the experimental build?

Tips for better situational awareness?
SpudGun (DayZ) replied to Sunslayer's topic in General Discussion
Lowering object quality (scenecomplexity) also reduces chance of properly rendering players at ~300m and out. This is in most "DayZ performance" guides, which a lot of people have used to run the game at a "decent" framerate, not knowing the consequence.
