Kickass PC setup and weird performance
SpudGun (DayZ) replied to pabloottawa's topic in Troubleshooting
The rendering side of the engine is really dated (started out as DX7) and has had stuff tacked onto it for years. You can see this by how beautiful some aspects of the game look compared to how basic some others are. Other (more modern) engines have no trouble pushing more poly's while maintaing a more fluid experience, making use of newer (more efficient) CPU instruction sets and DX11+ features to push visual fidelity, albeit in a more confined and controlled environment. The devs have started work to seperate the render from the sim, but this is no small task so I'd imagine will take a while. read more here: http://dayzdev.tumblr.com/ -

I just checked, it's still the same version. (42.116181) -
As said above, running source at 30-60 FPS isn't gonna help here, for reference I can pull 200+ FPS in L4D2 yet still get ~35 fps in DayZ towns. This below might help ;) http://imgur.com/t4Gzn

Tried a bit of the Hardcore experimental (AcceleratedTImeTest) and whilst it doesn't lag as bad as the previous build for me, there are still some nasty spikes; this time with added rubber banding. -

Cheers. -
Your 42" LED isn't "real" 120hz so if you are trying to run it at that you will have problems, also running two different refresh rates is known to cause issues.

If you are using launch options; remove -world=empty and -noIntro. If not then ignore this post. -

Can someone tell me the parts I need to build a pc for dayz SA and minecraft?
SpudGun (DayZ) replied to Michael_42's topic in Technology/Programming
If you already have 7 just use that.. -
It's definately an ATi/AMD problem with the transparency, I had it on my 7970 but not on this 780. I stopped using AtoC however as although it makes the trees/bushes and grass look nicer; it makes spotting people in them (mainly trees) much harder due to them being fuller.
