What I've noticed recently is that especially in big deathmatch towns on the coast the game nearly feels like CoD or Battlefield. A major aspect of this are the running-animations in my opinion. I think that therefore the sprinting with a raised gun-animation should be removed, the newer sprinting with a gun in lowered stance-animation should be revamped back to the old one (it's a bit slower) and the new sprinting animation should be changed back to the old one (who the hell runs like that?; the old one seemed much better and much more realistic). DayZ doesn't need to try to be and shouldn't be like CoD or Battlefield, at least movement-wise. What are you guys' thoughts on this?

If somebody wants true survival, Skalisty isn't a good place yet. In my opinion, there should be animals spawning on Skalisty and maybe some more houses/structures to loot, especially in the south-east part of the island. I think there should also be at least one Ashwood tree and maybe a river originating from a rock at the highest part of the island for fresh water if the well's are broken/not availible.

So currently, nearly everyone, except for players with high-grade military loot is carrying a drybag. They've got more slots than a small taloon backpack and are even waterproof. I think that because of this the drybags are very special and shouldn't be that common, maybe only spawn very rarely in civilian buildings and commonly in military buildings. I still remember that finding a small taloon backpack shortly after spawning was one of the best feelings in the game.

As you guys know, there are plenty of bugs on 0.50 stable, for example all items being pristine, drinking from wells isn't possible and loot quantity on non-persistant servers is seriously way too high. So is there any news on a hotfix/update coming soon? To me, these are gamebreaking bugs and should be fixed as soon as possible.

I'm going to update my original post. I think there should also be at least one Ashwood tree and maybe a river originating from a rock at the highest part of the island for fresh water if the well's are broken/not availible.

But they we're oon experimental hive for a few weeks so i thought the testing was done there.

Exactly; there would be no point for the deer stand if there wouldn't be any animals.
-
Of course it would make sense. Animals are crossing over in the winter when the water is frozen and then keep living there.

So my First Person character was logged out at North-West Air Field. None of my Steam friends were online playing DayZ so I decided to roll solo. There wasn't much loot in the fire station so I quit NWAF. and moved to Grishino with the intention to quickly check out the new half-finished town Severograd. I was going around Grishino, avoiding it to try to find some animals though (I didn't). Whilst doing that I'd noticed Devil's Castle up the hill and decided to check that out because tents spawn in castles. When I got to the castle tower I'd noticed orange light originating from the top and got surprised because there are not much players going to Devil's Castle but also frightened of losing my gear. At the top I found a fireplace with no one near it. They had also left a piece of burnt meat and a ruined frying pan there. So I realised that there had been players there. Still, I continued making my way to Severograd, at first in a completely wrong direction, straight to the North. Then I looked at my and turn west seeing a completely random deer stand in the wild far off the main road. The location of it: DayZ Standalone Chernarus+ Map - DayZDB In it there was only one item of loot. A spray can with only 75% left! This indicated that other players used it before me and had to have been there before me. This is quite surprising because of the randomness of this deer stand. So probably the players from devils castle had taken the exact same and wrong route that I took. I continued to Severograd hoping to meet these players. When reaching the heart of Severograd, the WW2. monument I saw both players in military outfit standing close to the wall near the school. I shouted that I'm friendly and that they shouldn't aim at me; still both of them moved closer to me whilst staying quiet. In panic I decided to climb to the top of the school. After lying down there for a few minutes I noticed one of them scoping out the area looking for me right on the balcony below me. I took the shot and killed him. Whilst I was looking for his friend his friend suddenly popped up behind a green building hitting me. I killed him though by getting a very lucky chest shot on him. Both of them had cooking and hunting equipment on them indicating that it was the players whose remains I'd found at Devil's Castle. This is such an awesome story because usually stalking people and locating them by their remains is very hard to do and uncommon in DayZ. But this shows that it's very well possible which makes this story so awesome and one of my most epic DayZ moments. In my opinion, this is perfectly described by DayZ's motto: "This is DayZ, this is your story."

So I've got a new computer only to play DayZ. The specs are: i5 4690KMSI GTX 770 Twin Frozr Still, the game is barely to unplayable, especially in cities. My fps drop to about 25fps in big cities on pretty low settings (GeForce experience settings). I also get tons of random lag spikes. For example i go though a smaller city with 30fps and every 20-30 seconds i drops down to 20/25fps. It's really annoying because i only got this computer to be able to play on the highest settings at decent fps. I'm so sad right now. :( So is there anything wrong with my PC or is DayZ just so unoptimized? And if have you guys got any solutions for the low fps/lag spikes?
-
My real problem are the huge lagspikes though! If I'm in a city i get around 30-40fps and then i suddenly drops down for a short time to 20-25. And the same thing in the woods and everywhere else just with higher framerates.

How should I tweak my settings? Also you probably get frames that good because you're running it on an SSD.
-
Wow. DayZ really sucks in terms of performance.

I've got the exact same card and I've got the exact same problem.

On the new experimental patch wich just came out, the game modes ("Regular" & "Hardcore") have been renamed to "First person" & "Third person". I honestly think that this is a step in the wrong direction. The dev team has the chance to differentiate these 2 game modes further than just by first person and third person camera view. In my opinion there are be lots of more differentiation options for the dev team to efficiently target the 2 main player groups until private hives are implemented, the "Hardcore" player who aims for realism authencity and roleplay and then the "Regular" player who often plays casually and likes the PVP aspect of the game more than the survival aspect. To target these main player groups, the devs should reserve themselves the option to differentiate the game modes by keeping the names "Regular" and "Hardcore" instead of renaming them to "Third person" and "First person" indicating that this would be the only difference between the 2 game modes. And if there are no differences than the camera view at the moment then the devs should at least keep the option of naming the game modes "Regular" and "Hardcore" in the back of their head if further differences between the game modes are implemented.

I'm sorry; I haven't played DayZ that much so I didn't know. I've removed it.

Options to identify a body (Hide playername when checking pulse on Hardcore)
kll4 posted a topic in Suggestions
Hardcore is at the moment getting more and more different from Regular apart from just being able play in first person mode. Hardcore is getting much more focused on realism wich is quite convenient for people wich actually prefer realism over gameplay. (For example: http://www.dayztv.co...osition-on-map/; not on Hardcore as said in description.) Reevealing a playername when checking his pulse is not realistic afterall and therefore shouldn't be able to be done on Hardcore. Instead the playername should just be replaced with "He/She" thus increasing realism and satisfying players preferring realistic gameplay. -

Options to identify a body (Hide playername when checking pulse on Hardcore)

This is brilliant and a really good solution solution. But maybe there should be a "Check face" option then apart from "Check pulse" wich would only give you "He/She has a ... pulse; is warm/cold to touch" if it's an unmasked person and "The person has a ... pulse; is warm/cold to touch" if it's a masked person. And it would be even better if you'd only get to see the "This looks like ..." if you'd spent time with the person (including talking to each other)/had interactions with the person like feeding, bandaging, ... . Just a minor enhancement would be an animation in wich you turn the person's body to the other side to check his/her face. (Unconscious/dead players' bodies are lying on the chest atm..) I agree. Now that we're getting more and more types of faces for both male and female characters there might not be a need for it but only if the customization system will be getting really advanced. Also the new faces would need to be really distinguishable from each other if we're not getting a full customization system like in Skyrim for example. And I also agree with you in terms of the name being too much when only checking the face but until we're getting more customization options this would be the best solution. In terms of tags, there should be a system to identify a tag and then just leave it out of the name you're getting when checking one's face. Well, it's an issue to me and I'm here to discuss about it. And if you're just here to talk nonsense then yes, please 'sign off'. -
Options to identify a body (Hide playername when checking pulse on Hardcore)
kll4 replied to kll4's topic in Suggestions
Guys, i think you are discussing too much about identification methods here rather than hiding the playername when checking pulse on Hardcore. As I said, Hardcore is in the future going to be for the more 'hardcore' players and therefore more realism. And identifying someone's name by checking his pulse is, as I said, not exactl realistic at all. -

I've improved my suggestion for the playername when checking pulse now only to be hidden on Hardcore. -

I disagree with you. The only option left excluding retreiving the playername by checking his/her pulse would be having the player tell them. This is the most realistic one and should be the only one.
