  1. No' date=' that's not it at all, people play this game and there are ups and down throughout one life. I spent 6 days on the game, one guy disconnected when we had him locked down and 2 days after that I get shot in the back without a chance. [hr'] Sorry mate but its going to happen. Even if the guy that killed you was in front of you if he got the drop on you you'd still be dead. ONE bullet will but you down in this game doesn't matter if you saw where it was coming from or not. And you know what? ITS HAPPENED TO ALL OF US. We all got pissed, but then either went hunting the fucker that killed us, or accepted that its a game and we got unlucky/stupid/whatever. Whats happened to you ISN'T unique. Its a very real and harsh part of this really harsh mod.
  2. Also less fun. And less interesting. But its cool, its alpha, just have to get tweaks made so you can't benny hill though a town and then lose your zombie train by diving behind a tree. Cos doing that just turns 'hardcore zombie game' into 'chicken run hide'n'seek with retards'.
  3. Agreed, bandit skin was imperfect as well, I guess thats universally accepted by all now apart from the diehards. Problem is, we need to stop referencing that bandit/survivor mechanic. It didn't work as skins, it doesn't work as heartbeats. But most are comparing how heartbeats work to how skins worked. That is a flaw in the thinking, heartbeats shouldn't be considered a reworking of bandit skins, it would be considered alone on its own merits. Like instead of thinking bandit skins > heartbeats > which is better? We should look at it like: attempt 1: Bandit skins > didn't work > binned. attempt 2: Heartbeats > still in test, seems to have its own problems > tweak or bin. Maybe instead of trying to replace an imperfect mechanic with another imperfect mechanic, we should bin the whole idea and see how it pans out without any 'bad man indicator'? We are testing alpha after all, so far the two methods tested don't work, so maybe lets see if the game works without them. Let people act on their own instinct rather than being aided ingame, see how that works, if it feels it DOES need some way of pointing out psychopaths, we can try a new method. TL;DR Bandit mechanics don't seem to work however they are implemented. We haven't had DayZ with NO bandit skins/indicator. Let try it without? Maybe its not even needed? Its possible that the 'bandit problem' isn't anything to do with the game, its to do with the players. Stop trying to fix the game when its not the problem. Players are getting killed by other players, because players love killing each other.
  4. Yep, didn't even need to test it, it was always just another poorly conceived pointless mechanic that only exists in an effort to make the forums slightly less full of crying and whinging. Didn't work. The problems isn't 'I can't tell bandits from survivors', the problem is NO player is totally one or the other. When all players operate in some ever changing moral grey area, any mechanic to show how 'evil' a certain player is is just bunk. I know the mod isn't about balance, but this just gives a safety net players and makes a huge part of the psychology defunct. Why wonder if you can trust someone if a simple mouse-over answers that question?

    Kneecapping newbies

A lot of people pointed this out clearly in his vote thread. But we got drowned out by the self-proclaimed 'hardcore' crew and the PKers that were drooling over the idea.

So how did the zombies happen?

No need to yell. I was just stating my take on it. I know it was caused by a disease. Sheesh...sorry for trying to have a little fun with it. Apologies. I'm just used to having to shout through a sea of spam and troll posts to actually answer an OP questions or keep a discussion going on here. No offense meant.

    Safe to play?

Deer stands have a higher chance of ending your game than zombies and bandits.

    Safe to play?

You'll still fall off a ladder and die or shatter you bones by daring to step to close to a rock or tree anyhow, so its about as safe as it always has been.

Anyone get this working for a Mac?

How the Dog Mechanic work and more

I don't think it'll work. I'll skip over the clumsy 'be-friending' stuff and get to the core: It'll be clunky, frustrating and because of that, useless. You won't even be able to use your dog half the time in combat because the time it takes to set the squad commands for it you'll be shot dead. Loads of other issues but a huge one is its not even a very good or original idea. Seems most suggesting this have thought Zombie Apocalypse > Apocalypse > Fallout> OOH! Dogs! Even Fallout nicked the idea from A Boy And His Dog, the name Dogmeat is from that film even! That said, implemented well, it COULD be pretty cool, but on the ARMA 2 engine based around squad commands... ..well thats going to be a annoying clunky mess.
  11. But you wouldn't know their intentions until they did something that made that obvious. Being just close enough to someone doesn't tell you ANYTHING about them. In fact anyone that being in proximity someone means they can read their intentions to are either living in a dreamworld or are very judgmental people. and judgmental people are VERY often wrong.

Base building ideas (How it should be done)

NO. NO. NO. Base building: YES. But not like this. The 'buying' system is, well, crap. If you want to build bases, you should have to find stuff and fix stuff up. I know you don't want to have to think 'I want to build a tower, but it'll take 30 Hueys load of wood to have enough materials.' TOUGH. You want it, GO GET IT. Your meant to be scrabbling in the dirt to hang on to your life, not trading in surplus weapons for materials from nowhere. Children, there used to be a saying in the 'old times'... 'YOU WANT SOMETHING, YOU WORK FOR IT.' Not QQ on a forum til you get your own way. (that saying that you are OP, just pointing out a common theme on ALL game forums.) But yeah base building would be a great inclusion in DayZ, but server hopping HAS to fixed before theres any point even coding any of this, and it NEEDS to be done in a way that it takes HARD work to achieve. Like 20 x harder than getting a helicopter fixed at least.

Anyone get this working for a Mac?

    Err, Nobody was dude....
  14. Could just put ghillie camo over your backpack bro. They exist in reality. /derp You haven't noticed that you currently can't loot a ghille wearers backpack at the moment then.
  15. Yeah, this forum needs an ignore function really. May look if there is one. EDIT: yep, there is. this forum may become readable.
  16. 'butthurt' first then a shitty jpg link? Seems you give a few fucks seeming you took the time to go to the effort to edit your post. /clap. Anyhow enough of the usual DayZ 'let derail all discussion' stuff now kiddie. Matey was reported for sexist undertones and also adding nothing useful to the thread. Much like yourself. Got anything to add to a discussion about skins for female toons? You must have a lot of friends. Plenty thanks. Bet yours find your input riveting.

    Client-Side Modifications

I'd be keen on hearing why you don't like the idea of everyone having cleaner movement also. If its done in a way that every player has it, what would be the issue? Surely being killed because the game engines decided you can no longer fit though an 10ft wide barndoor is annoying?
  20. Well tbf, the female skins shouldn't have been rolled out until they could make use of the camo/ghille skins. Kind of feels like in the rush to give people the camo to make up for loss of bandit skins the two ideas never connected when they should have. They should remove Ghille suits and female skins until female have access to all skins and they stick a visable/lootable backpack on the ghille suits. Simply fix the whole set of 'skin issues' in one go rather than piecemeal. Reported for being a sexist moron.

    Client-Side Modifications

Do people read these threads? For the 3rd time, could this be implemented into DayZ? No advantage if everyone got it patched it at the source.
