Oh god so true! And they always moved right as you pulled the damn trigger! But I think that dogs and horses could work well. Need a meat shield whilst you fight something/someone off? Hide or send in the dog or horse! Need emergency food? Time for an Old Yeller moment!

An interesting discussion based on this speech
NanoAnarchy replied to helcol's topic in General Discussion
Ok I wasn't able to watch the video's due to someone else being asleep in the same room as this, but I have a point to make that I think people might appreciate. But first a side note. Wasn't it "talkies" as they were first known that drove Chaplin out of a job? Something about his voice if I remember right. Anyways, onto my point, and sorry if anyone has said this or hinted towards it, so many points to take in have kinda left me a little awed that so many people think along the same lines on a game like this. But yeah, I digress. The problem comes from the human race, in general, having a sense of self preservation. Now this may just be for ones self, their family, or maybe a community in general. However, anything that doesn't fall under this sense to a person, becomes a threat. So, instead of giving a chance to the stranger you might meet in the Dayz world, you would eliminate the potential threat, rather than risking what they have. Now people may disagree with this, and I understand why, but think of it this way. Outside of the affected community which a disaster has struck, how many people help? Yeah, if we list the number it sounds a lot, but when you compare it against the amount of people who could help? Yeah it's not so large. Now put this into a situation where the population is limited (Look at server size, 40 people is average max right now). That number becomes a lot lower, like maybe 5 if your lucky. Now personally I try to be one of these five, and the only time I have attacked a player is once I have been attacked by them first. I've also been lucky to meet others like me however. One guy saw me under attack by 2 zombies when I had no weapons. Now whilst I had it under control due to the fact zombies drop from a blow to the face, he still ran in, unarmed himself, and helped me dispatch them. In return I gave him a can of tuna so he could eat, and we travelled along for a while before going our seperate ways. To sum up, you will generally meet 4 types of players in this game. Those trying to survive alone, those trying to survive with their friends, those who want to help everyone, including theirselves, and those who just use it as an excuse to kill everyone. I'm sorry this isn't as philosophical as what others have posted, but it's my view on things. I hope you can appreciate that at least. -
I agree, but only on two options. No one close enough to make it so they are toying with you (Had this happen it's a waste of time, if I go unconscious I stay like it on a chance) Second option make it so unconscious times are reduced, I once spent 15 minutes like it. I know the game goes for realism, but it's still a game.

Sorry completely off topic, but this reminded me off something. Was at the construction site by Berenzo once, on the 2nd floor (Least I think it was, I forget how many floors there are) When I saw someone plummet past. Next thing I know, I'm shot back cus of desynch, and I hear something above me. So I run to the edge again and starting swinging my Axe out. Next thing ya know, someone drops past, Axe to their head stopping their suicide, all I know? Free rags!

Getting a damaged leg then force fed rotten food till i was sick

Obvious Troll is obvious? Though seriously, you know anything about this game, you know a lot of people mention things like this. If it did happen however, you've had an interesting first spawn. -
What's the best DayZ glitch you have come across?
NanoAnarchy replied to KaiDekA's topic in General Discussion
My best one? Finding one of the castles ( I forget the name, it's kinda middle of the map though) I was so excited I went to the roof, and went to the edge, wanting to scope my surroundings. Except when I got to the wall, my character didn't stop running, even though I had released the w button. Now what I enjoyed here is how he glitched through the low wall, and proceeded to run through the air for around 6 foot. When he fell to the ground and died. What didn't amuse me was he was my first character (HIgh pop server, geared out through luck, and had survived for 8 hours, around 5 of them in Chern and Elektro somehow, probably just luck or everyone was somewhere else at the time lol) -
Personally I don't get this myself. You say you'll wait for Beta, but then you miss the fun and excitement of new things being added! And also won't know your way around things that have been implemented between Alpha and beta stages! Just think of the fun you could have when it gets to beta, all these new players join and you know where to get gear, how to fix/build this or that and what not? Now don't get me wrong, the KoS thing is annoying, I'm currently taking tomorrow off from DayZ because of being killed multiple time, on multiple servers by snipers, as a bambi. I'm only doing this so the game don't piss me off that I don't wanna play. Come the next day though? I'll be back on. Just gotta take it in your stride, and learn from your mistakes. (On a side note, me saying I'll take a day off sounds cheap after what I said, but when I say killed as a bambi, I mean I hadn't even got far enough to enter my first building on that spawn before being shot)
-
Man mines the opposite. I find loads of ammo, no SKS XD
-
Stupidest players I have met? Those with a sniper camping Bambi spawn zones. Realistically speaking, they have nothing worth looting, and you just wasted a bullet or a few to take them out. What happens to you then when someone gets the drop on you and your out of ammo? Exactly, all your "Hard earned" gear is suddenly gone because you couldn't fight back simply because you attacked players who couldn't fight back and had nothing worth taking. Edit: I should state I've had this happen, or seen the results, on lower population servers ( Like 15/40)

Really? Ok considering this is a survival game in an improbable situation (I say improbable cus hey, who knows what could happen in the future) You are moaning about not being able to make splints out or tree's? Considering the fact that you'd have to find one with a sturdy enough section, within reach of having to crawl? And if ya don't like having to crawl, work out where you are, find a way of killing your character and rush back to the body. Mercules, this ain't aimed at you, but it makes my point, I know your being sarcastic lol. This kinda makes my point with a little more emphasis I know your talking sarcastically, but as your point makes, there is currently no crafting system, (apart from modding weapons and fixing them, alongside clothes). However, you wanna make a splint from a tree using an axe with a broken leg? Ok how do you plan to gain the leverage to swing said axe hard enough? Or be able to reach the branches good enough? Considering everyone so far has mentioned trees for this use, no one has mentioned that the trunk would take forever, and finding a suitable branch within reach.

Not trying to cause an argument here, I think what Hethwill_Khan meant was along the lines of the quote "History is written by the victors" The quote may be wrong, and I can't remember who said it, just saying is all...

I agree and disagree with this post. Yeah, safety in numbers I get but saying they suck at video games? Not so much. After all they get the idea that a lone wolf is easier to handle than a group would be. I get it's your personal opinion, and I do agree there are clans who are arseholes to those who aren't members, but ya gotta understand this is because they are protecting their own. You saying if a fully geared player ran at the ready, you won't do anything? On a side note, I have no plan to join a clan, and so far he only person I plan to play with is my nephew when he gets the game in a few days
-
So if I ever run into you guys I may have a chance =P I do find that in situations where I am powerless, becoming the fool is the best option lol. Though only if the fool is eager enough to please that when you let him go he runs for the hills ( so to speak) I agree on this completely. The only time KoS pisses me off is when I have gone out of my way to make it clear I'm not a threat. That or when someone kills me for the fun of it, seeing I have nothing worth taking. After all, there's being a bandit, and being an arsehole stopping new spawns enjoying the game. But don't get me wrong, the fact I could die at any moment is something I love about this game.
-
I may of misread this, and sorry if it's out of order. But from the sounds of it, you and possibly your group have held people up in the past. And all that comes to mind is that if you held me up, I'd ask straight " Do you want me to wriggle for you? After all, to understand the power of the wriggle you must first see it!"
-
I get your mocking those who say the game is not realistic, but all that comes to mind is that you should of answered " Well you got the other leg to push still?" or " You do know you can drag yourself along by your arms?"
-
The stupidest people you've met....
NanoAnarchy replied to thelonewarrior's topic in General Discussion
Personally I haven't had one, but I let my nephew play today as he was thinking of getting the game ( He's 18, but I didn't want him wasting money if he weren't going to enjoy it). Anyways, he was on my current character who weren't really well geared ( Cargo pants, some food, drinks and a fire axe, so I didn't mind if he got me killed) Anyways, a bambi runs upto him out of the blue and punches him once, then runs off. A few moments later he's back with a friend, the one punches again, runs off and the other stands there. Now my nephew is in a dilemma, wondering what to do with the guy left. I tell him straight, kill him, ya can't trust him (We had tried to communicate for a minute with no answer). Well he does, and carries on. A few moments later we find the other guy, now with a broken leg somehow, being attacked by a zombie, shouting at us "OMG you killed me friend, at least help me." Our response? We sat down and watched him die =) Moral of the story? Don't be a dick then expect help. -
This is so true. First ever spawn, I'd been lucky enough to find a dead body fully kitted out (Fully customised SKS, clothes, backpack, food water, ammo etc etc) Survived for 7 hours, avoiding players, killing zombies (Was still getting used to it) However, I didn't know at the time about the wall/rail glitch that sometimes happens. So I'd found one of the castles and was like cool. Went to the roof to get a lay of my surroundings. Walk to the edge and don't stop, only to fall to my death. End of the day it's alpha, shit happens. Laugh it off, and go do what the game is about. Gearing up and surviving. Also, did you check what time it was that the server reset? As many have scheduled resets.

Depending where I am I adopt a number of approaches. First is if someone has shot me, I approach menacingly threatening to bit their legs off. (Please some get the reference lol) However I mainly end up crippled through desynch or a glitch. In which case find some rotten fruit or disinfectant and down them! Once done I usually crawl round looking for sticks and charcoal on the off chance I may get lucky! Or crawl for a zombie! After all might as well feed the natives! Finally if I'm close to a high building time to suicide off it! On a side not, broken leg means you can't walk, and so far I've not managed to crawl up stairs. However I can climb a ladder. Logical =P (And before someone says it's possible I know, I just meant it would also be possible to drag your ass up some stairs with a broken leg)

hope dean doesnt add more zombies (at least for a while)
NanoAnarchy replied to bioned's topic in General Discussion
I quote this guy for 3 reaons. 1) His points hit the mark exactly. Unless they up either the damage, speed or amount of Zombies ( Possibly a combination of them in my opinion) Your biggest problem is other players. 2) His name is too awesome to not quote, but that may just be the rooster teeth nerd in me. 3)Just look at his signature and dare to disagree! -
Deathlove, I see what ya mean, but odds of getting your hands on a real one? Especially in this sort of enviroment? Yeah they are gunna be slim to none. As for what Nicko said, I agree and disagree. In a real life zombie apocalypse, ideally you want some like sturdy metal bar you can easily swing for a certain distance ( Imagine a metal 2 x 4 sort of thing, or a metal baseball bat) As it won't break easily. As for up close and personal, like only a foot/30 cms from ya, you want a ball peen hamer. Blunt force traauma, no hooks to get stuck and no points/blade to go dull =P (Me and a few friends had a long drunk conversation on this one night lol)
-
Oh I so agree. 15+ hits on a zombies head and it's still coming at me? Yeah something is fucked up when I can take a zombie out with hits from my bare fists.
-
I agree with everything SoulFirez just said, though I'd like to add something. You always have the option of restraining them (If you have handcuffs and are sure they don' have backup). On a side note I just remembered, I encountered a Bambi the other day who caused me no harm, and went on his own way. However, he didn't see the zombie come from now where and go to attack him which I shot at (was at the town north of Elektro, I forget the name) who then went serpentine. Sorry for scaring you if you read this, you were gone before I could assure you you were safe.
-
Could you please clarify who this was aimed at? Sorry might sound funny of me, but I'm sure there are a few people who are unsure if this is aimed at them or what.
-
Oh I agree completely. I may be misreading what you wrote, all I meant is that you gotta laugh about those times when you get killed due to your own fault. I only mentioned the two times that angered me to emphasise that for both of them, (Even with only around 40 hours of play) I have around 10 more that just make me laugh. Another one I had was in the NWAF, someone was prone in the grass and I hadn't noticed them. Well I ended up stood more or less on them when all I hear is " Dude, your kinda stood on me" To which I went wahhhhhh and panicked, drawing my weapon, to get shot down by them. Couldn't blame them, and I laughed about it. I only wish I'd kept my calm.

Will there ever be a way to walk (more) silently?
NanoAnarchy replied to infiltrator's topic in General Discussion
This. First time I had this happen (Though I think it was in a different building, I'd gone upstairs) Resulted in me freaking out, watching the stairs calling out " Who's there? I'm friendly! Come on Guys I know your there!" For a few minutes lol
