Maybe they took up metal working as a hobby instead of just standing on the street corners of towns like they do now.

(Modern) Water purification / filtering !
Pvt_Larry (DayZ) replied to Combine (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
I do a good deal of backpacking, and I always use a water pump like this one: They're pretty good at what they do, but the filters need to be changed after a couple weeks of use, which could also be a mechanic here. -
Yes, I see where you're coming from. Chernarus as it is is very rural; it would be nice to have a few areas or even neighboring regions that are a bit more developed.
-
I like bigger cities, but I think that there should be more zombies all round (a bit slower and weaker tho) and I agree that loot should be random. I don't want there to be any place that you have to go to to find something.
-
Cool, nice playstyle. I've tried the same sort of thing, always have some beans to share. If I want to play a first person shooter I'll do that; but here I just try to make the apocalypse a little more pleasant for everyone.

Military Unit Stationed at Gorka? [Lore]
Pvt_Larry (DayZ) replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
Awesome job all round. Nice find with the item and the unit histories are excellent. I now consider them- SEMI-OFFICIAL LORE!! -
I've always made a habit of being Mr. Nice Guy. Take a guess at how that always ends. I'm not going to whine about KOS, I get it. I just personally refuse to be that guy, so I never take the first swing.

Rain could be a bit less common. I mean, the apocalypse was going alright for me, then this rain came along and it's really spoiling my mood.

burying loot! make the shovel useful :)

AAAARGH! Go to Elektro and hunt for me buried treasure, yaargh! -
I actually do like this idea. So much fun with hostage taking in this game...

Experimental brings us hunting, do you want to know what this means?
Pvt_Larry (DayZ) replied to hannibaldaplaya's topic in General Discussion
Based on the number of zeds around most didn't get far or last long, so it doesn't make sense that most of the supplies would be used up. It would make sense for it to have moved, and be found either in vehicles that attempted to flee, or in whatever safe zones refugees would have attempted to create. The number of cans right now is too high, based on the number of server resets. If the time between resets increases, and the amount of cans increases by a bit, then I think that would be ok, because then you do have food becoming scarce after a while, necessitating hunting. -
I think I'd rather use my limited gasoline to drive a car instead of power a glorified joy-buzzer.
-
Alright, so it's pretty clear that the Liberator doesn't make a ton of sense, but I'm totally on board for some improvised zipper guns in Dayz.

Even without steam, you should be able to form a group (I'd say limit to four people at max) and be able to spawn without equipment. It can be quite frustrating spending over two hours trying to find my friends in-game.

This game can get so psychological sometimes, it warrants a real study. I don't know if this is a real deterrent, because to some people it would always be "just a game" and there's some real gore hounds out there. Still an interesting concept and certainly a step in the right direction (so long as it doesn't get banned).

If nothing else, they need to be there for immersion. But it seems like getting brain fever from a rat would get old pretty quick.

On topic: Yes. Sleep aids could be dangerously fun. Off topic: Sleep aids sound dangerously fun. I guess I'll stay away from those. I guess.

Really liked some of these; except what the heck would a nambu be doing in Eastern Europe? -
recognizing peoples and studying dead bodies
Pvt_Larry (DayZ) replied to valtsuh's topic in Suggestions
Yeah, pretend I said this as well. -
What if someone starts looting you and your character is ticklish? On the other hand, you should be able to check for a pulse also. Btw this wouldn't work for too long because everyone would just start putting bullets in people's brains "just to be on the safe side."

God help you if you are not trolling.

That's right. The best you can do is try to be king of Chernaurus, and stash up as much tuna as possible. Bases and some vehicles. Or get everybody together and create a thriving post-apocalyptic democracy- or dicataorship. Major credit for anyone that does that.

One day the game is going to be more oriented on actual survival, with hunting, cooking etc, instead of just hunting for cans the whole time.

Solving problem of kill on sight - Vehicles.
Pvt_Larry (DayZ) replied to Outroduce's topic in General Discussion
First off, KOS will never go away. Yes I think it will get better as more options become available to players, but it will never completely disappear. As for vehicles, right now it would just lead to cruising with M4s and then you have a KOS drive-by situation.
