Sees are relatively easy to deal with 'as is' one a player has acquired a reliable offhand ( axe, hoe, ect) but up until that time they're nearly unmanageable. My suggestion would be to reduce their spawn rates with 1k of the spawn points to give fresh spawns a chance to gear up or group up before going inland.
