Right, well then. I'm guessing a lot of people will assume that I will be suggesting that things such as tea, moustaches and top hats should be added - and you will be wrong. My thinking is that with the current assault vests - DPM, Khaki, Olive, etc, is that why are these in the game, when the rest of the military intervention is American? (If I'm missing something, I didn't play much of the mod, nor Arma II). However, I am aware of the L85 that was in the mod, with the silly holographic sight, and the equally silly AWS sight. Essentially, my first suggestion is that more British Army items should be implemented alongside the assault vests - including a proper SA80. It could also be just as customisable as the M4 - whether it be using the iron sights or a proper SUSAT scope, or using the alternate rails allowing for the foregrip (which doubles as a bipod). It could possibly include a different, longer barrel - or the L86 could be seperately integrated as an LMG. This suggestion isn't just about the SA80, however, as other people have already mentioned this. My thinking is that more camoflauge could be added alongside it - at the very least khaki, olive and DPM uniforms, and perhaps berets. Also, the use of a smock - I don't know who actually uses them, but they are essentially just a coat to go over the camo shirts for colder weather - and have more pockets. On a whole, I think webbing is a must-have addition, with it being positioned under any backpack the player would currently be equipping, and most likely having the same storage as an assault vest. Apparently Mess Tins are being implemented, and with this there could also be ration packs found amongst military loot. I'd picture this as a box, just like the first aid kit, containing the seperate meals, and things such as water purification tablets, energy tabs, as well as smaller luxuries like tea (Fine, I do want it added.) and coffee. Also, if I'm getting really pedantic, I would like it so that a pistol could not be stored in the assault vest. I don't know if it is just me, but it really doesn't look like there is much room for one. I've seen suggestions for leg holsters - maybe they would just work like the chest holster, but with the possibility for one on both leg. (Not allowing you to dual wield, but to carry two pistols - if you can find two holsters, that is.) Most likely this seems like rambling, so I'll try to sum it up: L85 L86 SUSAT Scope DPM/MTP uniforms, webbing, assault vest, bags, smocks Ration packs - heatable meals, puritabs, small one/two time use stove, tea, coffee, etc Leg holsters Of course almost all of it would be military grade loot - perhaps the contents of the rat packs could be found seperately Loot would (if it can be) confined to select areas - possibly just heli crash sites? Those sites would be rare by their own right, and the loot that spawns would be even rarer

I'd like to claim full responsibility for this...

It's fine. In fact, I was just reading about the 30 Years War, and it mentioned the Danish island of Zealand. Not to be confused with the Dutch Zeeland, the micronation of Sealand, or the country of New Zealand. It seems there is one of each variety
-
As the guy who put the pictures of the red, green and blue beret on the wiki, along with that little selection, I didn't know this existed - apologies. Also, as far as I'm aware, you can't substitute Zealand with Sealand, hence the confusion
-
This. I mentioned the idea of possibly finding British ratpacks in my "More Britishness" thread, and before that would be considered, this would have to be implemented. I guess the food in the packs would be a LOT more valuable than the normal things you find, because of the amount of calories alone that they have.

If you can convince the Devs that a katana will fit into the lore, and not seem wildly out of place - go ahead. I like the idea of duct tape - if you have somebody handcuffed, you could not only put a sack over their head to blind them, but put the tape over their mouth to stop them from crying for help - making proper banditry and hold ups even more satisfying. The zombie blood idea - it's a bit weird, I guess you would have to take it from a zombie corpse or something - would it also cause the now "infected" player to groan a lot, contract fevers and sickness etc, before killing them?

I like the idea of automatic updates to the journal, it would make it so that a lot more people will actually bother with it. On the other hand, I could imagine people getting pissed off if they are killed whilst carrying a journal that they put a lot of time into writing, to have the journal stolen and burnt by another player, or just left, and lost during a server reset.

I think that in the bigger houses, you should be able to mount and slide down the bannisters, just like Nicolas Cage did in National Treasure 2. Also, going off of how I broke my legs by running too quickly towards the top of some stairs, I do see this going horribly

I wore mine on a trip across Europe - it fits just under the waterproof liner in my backpack, and actually helps waterproof the bottom even more. If we have a real outbreak, I'm definitely bringing it along

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Principality_of_Sealand I'm not sure who you are on about, in all honesty It depends whether it as the A1 or A2, does it not? I've personally only handled the L98 Cadet version, and had no experience with either the A1, or the A2, but as far as I'm aware most of the problems were only with the A1 and were generally gone with the introduction of the A2

New Sealand? Like, the micronation off of the coast of Sussex?

The Community's List of Suggested Weapons for Dayz Standalone (Version: 1.29)
ElEric replied to alexeistukov's topic in Suggestions
I like all of the weapons in the rifle poll besides the last two. I just don't like the look of the hunting rifle, and the VSS I can imagine being too overpowered/abused, unless it was super-duper-super rare -
Not to derail the thread - but I agree, and present my horse mask - "Assassin's Steed." Anyway. Horse marks - whichever varient, black, brown, unicorn etc, along with other masks would be great for scaring the shit out of people. You have my beans
-
You think? I really don't like the colour of it, and to be fair, I'd rather be able to slight customisation on as much gear as possible. Like igotrage said, even the ability to spray paint it would be cool
-
I like the sound of that - it could potentially have a higher spawn for vehicle parts than anywhere else, but otherwise be pretty isolated. I can't help but think it would be like the med tents used to be, if it spawned general military look. The firefight potential would be great, kinda reminds me of that Modern Warfare 2 mission, just less arcade-y.

At least you gave reasoning for disagreeing: see below.
-
I did not know that. I guess, you learn something new every day. Also, what do you mean when you say "better" 5.56 rifles!? If I ever find you in game, I won't be sharing my tea...or bullets, actually. You'd get me first.

I'm fortunate enough to have been allowed into the Nicosia International Airport - apparently it is now the HQ for the U.N. Peacekeepers there (they allowed us on). This plane was on the tarmac when the Turks invaded, and you can see what forty years has done to it. Is this the sort of thing you have in mind, when you mention the abandoned aircraft? Or would it be a more military style wreck, such as this Shackleton - also at Nicosia. It's all quite spooky stuff, when you're stood next to them.
-
Of course, the improvised, civilian and the Russian weapons would come first, that goes without saying. Of course, it's all still in Alpha, so I wouldn't expect, or want, any ideas I would have to be priority - mainly looking for a "This seems like a good idea" or "I don't really like this, here is why:" Then again, you did exactly that. Can I ask though, why would the Hi-power make it through, rather than any assault rifles? Canon says there wouldn't be any British troops around to lose their gear, so if it was captured closer to the borders, wouldn't the rifles be lost too?
-
This. This 1000x. I would agree with Shadow, though. I don't like the idea. However, it's not too bad, because Janol piped up about the timeline and suggested the "fresher" bodies - something that I would like to see
-
Seeing as though I both speak and think with one, I guess that is fitting. Going from what the others said, about needing more local, Eastern Bloc gear, I completely agree with this. It would be pretty cool if deceased bodies spawned around the wrecks as if they were survivors that had been killed. Obviously, this would mean damaged gear, to an extent. That did get me at first, and I completely forgot about the pistol. It never really shows up in vidya games so I've paid little to no attention to it. Obviously, it would share a "faction" loot spawn - popping up with other British gear, just as how American gear could only show up in American outposts, etc.
-
Water just came out of my nose, thank you
-
I see where you're coming from with that. I've got really mixed feelings over it - I'd rather see the Eastern Bloc equipment massively abundant compared to everything else, however it would be nice to have that little bit of home added in. I'm sure most of my suggestions, such as the holsters, webbing etc, would work for the Russian camo counterparts, but I've just never encountered TTsKO outside of the two items in DayZ. (Super rare British/American gear in downed Chinooks/Hueys/Blackbirds could work)
-
Say, however, you're up on top of one of the big towers near Balota - it doesn't matter if you're a bandit, or a hero who is out to snipe the bandits, they could help cover your back in case someone sneaks up on you
-
This seems like a good idea. You could even leave a cart full of loot (Obviously of little value) out in the open just to attract people to it. If you're that sort of person, of course...
