I haven't played this game in ages so I'm wondering what I have missed while I have been gone. Have there been any big improvements during the past year? Also, I see that the forum has been moved. Are all of the old members still here that I know? And where is everyone's favorite deranged horse moderator? :P

Welcome to the game and the forum! Gather around the campfire and I will tell you a story about the dreaded creature that inhabits the the wilderness of Chernarus. A creature so fearsome and deadly that her name is only spoken in whispers. Legend has it that the creature has a massive hoard of cans of beans somewhere in the deepest and darkest area of the wilderness and one time a bandit stole several cans from this treasure trove of beany goodness and carried them back to his camp so he could share them with his fellow hooligans. Unfortunately he had no idea what kind of horrible fate was about to befall them all that very night when the creature came lumbering out of the woods to reclaim her precious beans and left a trail of blood and dismembered corpses in her wake as she returned to her home moments later. That creature is known as the......... It is said that if you should stumble upon this beast in the woods, your only chance of survival is to offer her a can of beans and hope that she doesn't dismember you. If you don't have any beans then may Jebus have mercy on your soul. :o

Yeah, if I see those or if I see someone running around naked, I always get ready to start shooting.

A little over two weeks ago and I was looking around in the buildings for supplies when three people found me. I only had a mossin at the time so I didn't have a chance. Before I died, I did say "Go ahead and strike me down and I'll become more powerful than you can ever imagine." :lol: I will find those three eventually and the consequences will be severe. Wookiees hold grudges. :o

I've been playing a little while now. My first day actually went really well. I had no idea what I was doing to still managed to not die. :o Now I'm a pretty good sniper, solid in close quarters, pretty much have the map memorized and rarely die. :thumbsup: The thing you need to always remember about Day Z is that right now combat is more about getting the drop on your enemy than having traditional FPS skills. If you shoot first you will probably win the fight, unless there is a hit detection issue or your aim is really bad. :P

You can't intimidate wookiees. :D

I have no problems with running into a building and blasting people at close range but sniping can be a lot of fun. :thumbsup:

I have questions! #1. What server are you on? #2. What is your exact location? #3. What weapons do you have? I'm asking because... umm... I'm just curious about where heroes like to hang out and what weapons they use!

Thank you joining this ragtag band of gremlins as we battle our away through the desolate and danger-filled landscape of the DayZ Forum. The rules for surviving this mess are pretty simple. Follow Wheaton's Law, become the Smaug of bean-hoarding and remember what your parents taught you... Also, watch out for a demented-looking horse, a purple viking, a bearded axe-wielding lumberjack and/or serial-killer and the many other dangerous creatures that lurk around this place. Anyway, much like a deranged, post-apocalyptic Santa Claus, I have brought a bag filled with cans of beans for all of the newcomers. :o

This is probably the biggest problem with companies releasing Alpha or even early Beta versions of games for people to buy. Most people don't seem to understand the difference between early versions and finished products. Part of that could be because even a lot released products today seem to still be Betas. :o But still.....

Well, I have been kinda busy the past several weeks and didn't have a lot of time for gaming but I finally made my return tonight and proceeded to be killed by a bandit. I went afk for like 30 seconds to grab something to eat and came back to discover I had been murdered during my absence. <_< My death shall be avenged! > :( So have there been any big changes or additions to the game during the past month or so while I was gone?

Wow, I think that may justify a rage quit. :o Nope, I would never go afk in a building that people go to pretty often. lol I was just standing around a bunch of trees and didn't think anyone would see me there.

I will, I was just hoping for a quick summary. :P

lol I beat that on Planetside 2 once during my first time on the game. I hit Instant Action, got dropped into a battle and was immediately run over by a Sunderer. I was alive for a total of about 3 seconds. :o I haven't died that fast on Dayz yet. Actually I have done pretty well up until now. I have only died 4 times so far.

Considering that people get really upset when they die in FPS games where they have unlimited lives and don't actually lose anything, i'd say its not surprising at all that they get mad on here. :o

I wish! No, I can't do a good wookiee impression and I am sure my friends are all thankful for that. I would be doing it all the time. :lol: And it would be hilarious doing it in games. Some people can do pretty awesome wookiee sounds.

Other than server lag, not really. I do get issues in cities sometimes but again, I think its the servers. My PC is pretty good.

Bring on the death squads! I'll show them what happens when you upset a wookiee. :o
