  1. same problem as many others. I died, and then spawned on the beach with infinite hourglass. player id:1679526, using arma2 v 1.62.96895, and day Z v 1.7.2.6. could I get a reset? I can't even abort the game/suicide. I have to alt tab and shut down the game to get out of the hourglass screen. *update* As luck would have it, there was a wandering bandit along the coast and took me out. Pretty surprising seeing as I was one of 3 people online, and the other was his clan member.
  2. player id: 16739526 Simply was killed by zombies. I logged back in and went afk, to another "you are dead" screen. now every time I log in, I'm unconscious, not bleeding, but with blood flashing. The conscious meter does not go down at all. I wasn't alt-f4 logging, because I did die a natural death (consumption via zombies). My problem is that I can't respawn out of the unconscious state. server was us 3110 and i'm not concerned with gear. I'd just like to play the game. thanks for any help.

    New Server

Is this listed as a hardcore server? I've had difficulty finding hardcore servers that have side chat disabled. I don't like the cross-hairs and 3rd person.

    Loot difference between servers?

Me and some friends been picking up the cans and tossing them just to clean up the loot spawn area. Then come back 45min. to an hour later. Clearing out a loot point is the best way to ensure new loot will spawn there again. It is a bit risky to do in the larger towns and areas with high traffic.

    Server Hoppers

Server hopping is very lame. The only reason I see to switch servers is if the one you are usually on goes down. Everyone has their own style of play, and mine is to avoid meta-gaming, such as alt-f4 when you have zombie aggro, or were fired upon. I don't even like the idea of clearing loot piles so it respawns. Sometimes I do this to be nice to the next person who happens by. I for one, find it irritating to limp my way into a good loot spot, only to find a single tin can holding the place of military grade equipment.
  8. As of 1.7.1.5 the loot tables seemed fixed to me (as in food/water/weapons ect. spawned in as normal). The flashlight doesn't aggro the zombies (which I take advantage of, but still think should cause them to at least walk towards you). It's the players watching for flashlights that you have to worry about. In a meta-game sense, there were only about 5 to 10 players in the whole server when I was playing. It was night time and I wanted to see if I could navigate through chernogorsk or electrozavodsk in the pitch darkness. Long story short, no I couldn't. It could have been due to my impatience. When you cross the threshold of many buildings crawling, you stand bolt upright. I blame that. I've taken to going crouched when crossing the doorways now. The game changes dramatically when it is night time. The sense of accomplishment from patience and feeling paranoid in the dark really outweighs that of day-time survival. Daytime for your casual bandits, night time is for the zombies. I'll have to be honest, It is so frustrating, that I'd rather just sleep till daytime, or equip myself well in advance for a night run (multiple flares+carrying a chemlight, and a gun with ammo). If you want to RP it, it can be considered too risky to explore zomble infested areas at night. Either way, the only reason I'm not playing now, is because my router died and I can only send emails through my work computer. One bit of advice: use your unarmed time learning how to throw those heaps of tincans. They've saved my life more than once via going up one stairwell, throwing the can to the other side of the barn, then crouchwalking my way out the other doorway when they were congo-line investigating the noise of the can-throw(yes there were like 6-8 of them). Experiment, have fun, report obvious bugs.

    A known hack?

I had a similar experience with what I assume was a hack (could have just been the server admin cheating). This was right before you spawned with nothing, as I had a makarov. I was running along the bean coast from kamenka and I saw a guy kitted out, kneeling next to a fire and an ammo crate. I was just running straight up as there was a zed chasing me. Now this was about 20 minutes after me and a mate killed a similar looking dude in balota (had ammo crate spawned next to him). The thing different here is that I had the drop on him, unloaded a clip and a half of makarov into his back, to no effect whatsoever. He had time to stand up, unlimber his huge sniper rifle and 1 hit me. A clip and a half of makarov in the back, and he didn't even have a broken bone.

No Vehicles on Servers: Heres the fix

I'm not 100% on this, but I think a main problem is when a vehicle is blown up, it doesn't respawn until the server is rebooted. I believe the current timer is adequate, and reducing the timer to 24 hours would be pointless, as any team which is enthusiastic enough to take the time to gather the vehicles will undoubtedly log on to save them, even if they have to do so in rotation. I do NOT like the idea of crafting vehicles out of scraps without something to build on in the first place. I have a hard enough time swallowing the idea of using a car tire for any vehicle other than a car. Hell it's QUITE a stretch to believe a person can carry around engine parts(essentially an engine block) without assistance.
  11. Side chat was removed to force people to use direct chat, and decrease the meta-gaming that naturally occurs in any game where there's a global chat room. I'm alright with crawling around with broken legs for hours till I reach a hospital (or dead survivor) with morphine. I'm more concerned with getting environmental clipping damage due to trying to open a gate, or go through a doorway whilst prone. Personally I like the idea of removing side channel, as you don't have to deal with those inconsiderate individuals who insist on using voip with it and ruining everything.

    a few bugs

This is an excellent list of bugs. One I encountered was whilst traveling in a vehicle as a passenger, I became de-synchronized ("red chained") and was dumped in a nearby field. I thought being patient would fix it, but it didn't. The driver told me that It looked to him like I was still in the vehicle, so I disconnected and then reconnected. I respawned in the road (probably at the location the vehicle was and where the server said I should be) and saw a corpse on the road. The thing is that the corpse was a duplicate of my own. I looked in it and sure enough it was a replica of everything I had. While I didn't loot anything off of it (my gear was pretty much sorted with as much ammo of the type i needed, and food/water for inventory space), one of our group thought otherwise and took tools, one of the guns and some other things. When he did this HE glitched out supreme. He couldn't move, had to relog and respawned under the vehicle. Unfortunately we had to run him over to get him out of there. (fun moment). tl;dr disconnecting while out of synchronization and in a vehicle can lead to entire character duplication. Those duplicated items cause problems (tools seemed to be duplicated fine.)
  13. YES. I'd go so far as to say you should start with nothing at all. Not even a backpack.
