My fatal SKS experience... One morning I was covering the NW side of the airfield at Bilota while some friends were checking out the Administration building. I was kneeling behind a tree when this guy (all kitted out, M4, camo, assault vest, shotgun) comes walking by in a crouch right in front of me. I was surprised that he didn't see me as he was a mere 5meters in front of me. He moved off to my right (about a 2 o'clock position) and crouched down next to a fence. He was still only about 10meters away and there were no bushes or grass between me and him. I raised my SKS (I only had iron sights). I put the sights about the middle of his left shoulder and shot once. He didn't move, I shot again. I'm not seeing blood or any sign of my bullets hitting anything. He still doesn't know exactly where I am. He gets up and starts running from my previous 2 o'clock to around to my 5 o'clock. I shot three more times hastily (apparently not drawing any blood...but not really expecting to). Then I stood and started sprinting to his left toward some cover. I was pulling my axe out as fast as I could. He starts shooting at me with the M4. I turned toward him with my axe drawn. I see him drop his M4 as he brings a shotgun out and starts shooting (apparently he had the unlimited shotgun ammo script). I managed to get two hits on him with my axe (this time I drew blood) before he fatally shot me with the shotgun. I dunno. I've killed zombies with the SKS for practice (both at range and up close). I will admit that he took my quite by surprise, so I didn't check to see what my SKS was sighted in for. But even so, at 10meters aiming at his shoulder, I should have hit something. Unless the ballistics of the bullets are based upon fantasy? I'll have to try it out against a wall sometime. In the meantime, if they're close enough and don't know I'm there, I think I'll just stick with the axe.

If Buffalo, NY or the UK are OK with you for a server location, then take a look at gaming deluxe. Being stateside, I'd prefer a company that hosts in a few more locations. Its a shame that nfoservers.com didn't get on the band wagon. That being said, while I don't really care for gameservers.com, with the current state of DayZ SA and the limited options there are, we've had good luck with gameservers so far. The server has been loaded with 40 players many times and there really hasn't been any performance issues that aren't common to all DayZ servers. I generally prefer to use nfoservers.com. Perhaps when the server files are released and the game goes 'live'.

Wow. The bullshit never ceases does it? Listen up boys and girls. Don't believe everything you read on teh internets. Especially in the DayZ forums. ^_^ Never in all my years of running servers have I seen a forum spew so much blatantly made-up rhetoric presented as fact. Though I must admit, its not exclusive to this thread. Some clueless admin wannabe posts something and some clueless forum goers latch onto it as fact. Admin abuse happening? Sure. Exploits and cheating going on? Sure. Admins 'rolling back hives'? lol Bohemia ought to get a better grip on their database security. :D

Actually, for camo, you have to Paint the Mosin with one color, then ADD the other color. Otherwise you'll just paint the gun a solid color again.

Thanks for your prior post and thanks for speaking up. The misinformation that gets spread about these forums by clueless players simply astounds me. You'd think that every server admin plays on their server 24/7 and has nothing better to do than run their clientele off with (non-existant) SUPERADMIN POWERS! OOOhhh. We can do what? Have one admin logged, change the start time and kick people? Hell, at least one of the four(or is it three?) GSP's automatically restart the server on a set hourly schedule. Nothing the admin can do about it.....yet the admin gets the blame. If you don't like a server, for goodness sake, play somewhere else! If it needs reporting, report. Just quit the whining.

I didn't bother to read every single post in this drivel of thread. As a server admin, I have a question.... How do you know that it is the server admin you killed? Or, are you making yet another unfounded assumption. I wish I had a way of knowing who I was encountering in the server. It would solve sooo many problems...for everyone. Sorry, but your whole story just reeks of troll. There's just a little too much 'coincidence" happening. Tips from a long time server admin, do your due diligence. Write down the name of the server. Report it. And NEVER play there again. No one likes to pay close to $90 a month for a server that no-one plays on. I can't WAIT for private hives......

Admins like to see them. I'd be OK with the 'player losing connection' message only being shown to the player. But I would like to see the message when he was removed and any messages pertaining to cheats.

The cool thing about the video is that now I have his Steam ID, and a bunch of his friends (guilt by association). Banned on every Steam powered fps shooter server we run. Sure does make life easier for us admins when the morons post their 'escapades'. B)
