the key word here is RENT... you are renting a server not owning it. if you own a house you can paint the inside any color you like... if you're renting you have to live by the owners rules. if you're renting a server (for now) you can't boot people and use it as your own private loot farm. spare us the "my hard earned money!" bullshit too

that wasn't a bad thing.. you really did him a favor. who knows how long he was up there waiting to snipe someone... see person-shoot-wait-see person-shoot-rinse and repeat. probably not much fun. but you engaged him in conversation, played out a scene, gave him a story to tell. cheers to you! lol

Few random issues/questions for a "born again" player (search was not very helpful)

I toss the flashlight out but hold on to the battery in case I find a baton or cow tickler. if it comes down to space food/drink wins over battery

stairs had my character make that noise a week ago... went to 3rd person view to make sure he wasn't squating or rubbing one out quick
-
that would be way better than the text spam... shivering, can't aim, gun shakes kind of thing.
-
yeah pretty much lol just chalking it up to alpha though
-
to your P.S.... it only took me 5.7 seconds
-
how far did you run in that hour though? it took me 6 cans and 2 bananas to get energized when I last played
-
this is the only "to the guy at xxxx" type post that was fun to read! at least you had the smarts to make sure it was dead... I probably woulda strut around with my sks in the air singing "We Are the Champions.." while he stood up and knocked me out

the way he's using the compas in the vid is the best way to use it now. don't have to switch gear in your hands, look down at it, then switch back... the way the compas is pointing in the inspection window is the way it would point if it were in your hands... very simple, quick and efficient -
that's kind of what I've been wanting to do when my current character dies. find a splitting axe, matches, rope and a canteen. everything else will have to be crafted and hunted. apart from clothes I mean... until we can make some snappy deer skin pants!

in the last month I've only found one crash spawn. just mags and a grenade. before that I would almost always find one, or even two, on the north side of GM. haven't found an m4 in quite a while though.

it was a week or two after buying the game. looted my way up to the top of the construction site and paused to look around. then saw someone less geared than me with only a helmet, crowbar and kiddy pack. so I show him where a giant mountain pack was sitting.. my screen flashes grey and I look up to see him whacking at me with the crowbar. thankful I had a motorcycle helmet too and they were iron plated at the time. I took out my fire axe and we chased each other in circles Benny Hill style till he fell over dead. not the most thrilling of kills by any means but it was my first pvp in dayz and I was so excited I almost forgot to bandage myself
-
lol that's been "my dayz story" right there for a while now. for fun, and out of boredom, I usually gear up and drop my shiny kit in random spots... then strip down and run to wherever the most action is and start singing in direct.. "do ya really wanna huuuurt meeee.. do you really wanna maaaake me cryyyyy..." but lately I get as far as "do you really wa*BANG!!*" before I'm back at spawn

tents and stashes won't stay stocked by themselves though. they'll save you some time gearing up a couple/few lives but eventually you're gonna have to spend the same amount of time stocking up again. unless you have teamwork and people are taking shifts/turns playing the stock mule... but then that's a benefit to working in groups.
-
I kind of understand how the OP feels in a way. right now it's easy to gear up (by design I assume) so gathering up those ak/mags, m4 pieces, food/clothes all that good stuff and then dying isn't a big deal really, just an inconvenience. I'm hoping it's gonna be a struggle to even get ahold of a gun and ammo by the time beta hits... when losing your shit will really have an impact.
-
I'm not saying you're a dick, or you suck, or your play style is wrong. but seriously read your OP again. if you really wanted to get in touch with this person (as if people actually run to GD forum to see if there's an apology lol) and apologize your whole tone would have been different. it might have been something like "hey dude at Whatever Village, I don't normally kos but you had something I really wanted and couldn't find... I didn't make contact because I've been burned too many times trying to be friendly.. contact me an I'll make things square with ya." might not have been so many people hating on you for sounding like a douche bag
-
so you could talk to them? bullshit lol your whole post was full of smug, self righteous, rub-it-in-their face attitude. and don't even try the "well if that's how you read into it." crap either lol

I think he expected cheers and praises for finding a hat.

wait... are we supposed to make a post when we kill someone? am I supposed to cheer for this tale, that will surely be told for generations to come... should I wait for a Part 2?? I don't.. I don't know what to do.. someone give me direction!!!

Tents. What are they good for? Absolutely Nuttin
skypig replied to RAM-bo4250's topic in General Discussion
never found, seen or used a tent yet but I'm assuming there's a limited space that you have to store your stuff. so it's not an infinite gun/ammo/food/clothing machine. if someone is using it for their pvp resupply depot they've only got a handful of times to gear up from it. and it'll have to be restocked eventually... so really the time they save running back to the tent to gear up is gonna be spent restocking it in a short matter of time. not to mention what others have said about body temp and weather screwing with everyone on the way to their tents. in the end it's not gonna be the time saver some people are fearing -
then don't reply to them. the posts will get pushed off the page and eventually they'll learn, on their own to search for an answer in the proper place lol or they'll give up and drop the game. it's win win
