it was a few days into the game, started getting the hang of it and decided I could help out or point the way to new spawns... sitting on the 2nd floor of the construction site and I see a guy with a crowbar wearing a helmet, pants and no shirt.. so I assumed he'd escaped from zombies and used his tshirt. since I had a big pack with just a few bits of food in it and an axe I was set to go inland and survive. he runs up to the floor I'm on and I stand up and do the wave-tilt-thumbs-up-friendly dance and he does the same., ok he's cool so I tell him there's a giant mountain pack behind those bricks and show him where. he looks at it a second then my screen flashes grey! that sumumabitch is tryin to kill me!!?! I barely manage to take out my axe, bleeding already and we strafed and ran around in circles (yakety sax playing in my head) till he finally fell face down. checked his pulse.. no pulse... whew!! I was so amped up I almost forgot to bandage myself

I don't care to see mine or anyone's name in lights, kill counts or any of that. but might be nice to see what (not who) killed you. "you've been shot.." "you've bled to death" "you weren't paying attention and one of those feeble infected 'zombie' things whacked you" "your leg spontaneously fractured killing you" "you fell off the last two steps on those stairs and died"

haha rocks... then you'll hear "granite is OP!! I got in a rock fight with some guy who was sniping with granite.. my sand stone rocks fell apart on impact!! wtfdevsyousuk!!"

since we're talking about realism in games.. strafing and slightly erratic movements doesn't break immersion that much. not as much as an item instantly appearing in your hands from the bottom of a back pack. so making movements in game match real life for realism sake should be carried over to item switching as well right? I mean shouldn't a person have to put their rifle on shoulder, take off their pack, open it, take out the new item, put pack back on and then ready their pistol or whatever? yeah sprinting forever and bouncing around like an ADHD child on crack while carrying a full pack is kind of silly

you are RENTING ther server not using Your server... you're paying to use their toys by their rules. if you do not like their prices or rules then don't play or pay. coming to the GD forum to complain about their prices and rules is like me bitching at the post office because mcdonalds fucked up my order

my first week I didn't know morphing fixed broken legs.. (i had morphine in my pack) I had sticks and crawled around for a little more than an hour looking for a t-shirt to tear up. was so pissed about crawling I didn't notice I was still wearing my t-shirt... till after I finally found one the same color I was wearing. fun times...

usually get off the coast ASAP and check a few buildings along the way.. stop in a tiny village and fuel up.. then take my time carefully finding gear.. takes about an hour if I'm lazy and then I'm set for life (however short of a time that might be lol)

I was making my way through the smaller towns gathering some food and I see the top of a fire station off in the distance.. so I run up to it and start climbing the stairs. on the top floor I see a fountain of blood pouring down through the ceiling. I hit the mic key and give a "hello? you ok up there?" first time using my mic so I wasn't sure I'd get a reply but I hear "hey! I found a dead guy up here with stuff in his pack!.. come up if you want some!" still too new and naive to think it could be a trap and I'd only add to his loot collection/body count I glitched through the wall onto the ladder and climbed up. sittin there over the body is a guy newer than myself, who didn't kos me lol. we spent a few minutes vultering his pack and decided to team up and see what we could do. a while later we have some meager supplies and no ammo for guns. we head off to the nearest large city. goofing off and running around pantsing people, punching whoever got close enough and running from anyone with a gun was fun for a while... then we ran up the fire station tower to the top floor to have a look around and rest a few. we hear zombie agro sounds and look down to see some geared up dude running up the road.. being clueless like we were we didn't bother to keep guard or even think he might be heading our way... a few minutes later he comes up the stairs, fire axe in hand and starts whacking away... all I had was an extinguisher and my partner had an axe or shovel, don't remember.. anyway the dude falls down and we're alive! we patch ourselves up and start going through his pack.. a gold mine! the whole time congratulating ourselves.. it was a first kill for both of us! only he wasn't dead.. and while we're patting ourselves on the back and looting.. the 'dead' guy stands up and takes us both out with two axe swings lol after a serious wtf?? moment I started laughing so hard it lasted well into my next spawn

this would be a cool experiment and if it works you could expand Uranus and fit more people in it scouts/looters is a good idea too

like being an hour into playing on a server.. crouched in the bushes and seeing "no fapping in the woods!" like they were reading my mind or something!

if I want gun play I go to red orchestra 2.. I wish bi would hire on some tripwire people

I understand the OP's frustration. I've gotten geared up.. by that I mean a rifle, axe, basic clothes and a lot of food/drink to drop for freshies.. not trying to be a hero really but give a little hand to new spawns or those guys who just can't find anything useful.. or team up with and help someone loot for their preferred items.. but in the last week I have met two friendly people out of dozens who've either taken shots at me or played the "hey I'm friendly let's stick together *bang* haha bitch I gots yo shiiiit!" and the kos/spawn campers.. I know teamwork and all that should improve as the game gets closer to release and more features are added.. but for now it's "when in Rome" time and time to be a douche like 90% of current players I just hope that the features that will lessen the dick head style of play will roll out sooner than later I don't enjoy being a dick but I guarantee I can be a bigger dick than the rest of 'em :)

I've never been an RP fan.. from trying to play d&d on paper to eve online.. just couldn't get into it. but dayz seems like the right kind where I could go along and enjoy a bit of RP actually.

I like the idea. spawning on the coast all the time gives me a hamster wheel feeling. knowing where you are almost instantly and then running the same old path to gather your shit. to me it's not as fun as I think spawning in a random place would be. gives it a little more of a challenge starting out

after a bit of BS on a "friendly-mature players" server today I'm shooting anyone I see that I don't know. unless they look like a freshie.

shot at someone with a sawn off spitting distance away.. separate shots center mass and didn't do a damn thing. he wasn't wearing a vest or anything like that either. shot at a zombie from the too of an apartment just for fun. it was far enough away that I couldn't see much detail of the zombie standing profile to me and the second shot hit.. saw the pellets hitting the ground in a 3 foot radius around him

so... basically you're so terrible at this game that you need to have your 'target' lead right up to you? that's not 'hunting' kid.. that's like bragging that you tracked down, stalked and hunted a pizza delivery guy who you ordered from and showed up on your front step LOL you guys are hard core to the extreme! holy shit!
