Sometimes, I wonder if the blood type thing has really worked out in the game. Because test kits are rare, I never really use blood kits. Also, I never understood why you cannot give yourself a blood bag. I guess it is to force cooperation (I am pretty sure you can give yourself blood in real life), but unless you are already in a group, it takes a lot of trust to let a stranger blood bag you.

Temporarily buff Melees to make them Useful
stc105 replied to hannibaldaplaya's topic in General Discussion
I doesn't take a lot to kill someone (or break their bones). If you hit a zombie (or person) in the head with a bat, chances are they will be knocked out or dead. The melee combat in this game need to be worked on. -
What's your favorite town or part of the map?

I am so new to the game. A lot the places you guys talk about I have yet to travel to. I am going to Grishino right now, and will hit up Devil's Castle later. Then I will make my way into a giant U back to Grishino. I spent a few nights in Novy Sobor in an orange house. It twas nice. No favorites yet. -
hope dean doesnt add more zombies (at least for a while)

At first, I was scared of zombies. Now, I treat them like a pesky bug. Pro tip: just circle them and hit them. Seriously just circle them and hit them. Now I can take on four or five zombies without a threat. The dev team needs to fix the zombie AI, and there magical ability to see through walls. Then, I will want lots of zombies. -
I normally don't say this, but I like you voice ;) I thinking chasing him was a mistake. Rule 1 when dealing with bullies: don't feed their egos. Probably should have left, found a gun, and then came back and did some troll hunting.

Personal feelings of military weapons (and future weapons) in this game
stc105 replied to Demoth's topic in General Discussion
Thanks for the interview link. I think some of us are worried about this weapon crafting stuff. I mean why not focus development on loot storage (tents, safes, or whatever the dev team comes up with), AI, vehicles, or even base building. I am not sure why crafting weapons is such a big deal. It appears to me, that the devs are saying that the way things are now is temporary until we implement are awesome weapon crafting system, and then we will turn down the gun spawns. No offense to the devs, but if I want to craft weapons, I would go play Minecraft or Rust. The problem with craft-able weapons is that if you don't lower gun spawns, then everyone will just skip over the weapon crafting. The problem with lowering gun spawns is that server hopping will be more prevalent. Heck, I would be tempted to server hop just to be one of the few with a M4 and own your crafted nail bat or crafted bow. I agree the devs want variety, but if they aren't careful DayZ will become a very different game (whether that is good or bad is up to the individual) than what it is now. I really hope DayZ does not become too crafting crazy. I wouldn't mine some crafting, but please do not make this game Rust with zombies. -
Advent1, I disagree. The DayZ controls felt odd to me. Usually, I play keyboard + mouse, but I just couldn't get the hang of it in this game and it was ruining the fun (though nit as bad as Mechwarrior) . Spent a few days setuping my gamepad, and now I can't play the game without it. Although OP, you should use JoyToKey to setup up advance keys to the gamepad. The x-input and how it is used natively sucks, and really don't like xpadder. I can post my gamepad profile if you'd like. I can do almost everything but the 1-9 hotkeys and the F keys. Honestly when it comes to precision, the gamepad can be tweak to be really close to mouse precision. Although using a professional gaming mouse will always out beat a gamepad.

Personal feelings of military weapons (and future weapons) in this game

Making ammo would be cool. You could find empty brass cases, and you would have to go to a factory to use the equipment. -
Personal feelings of military weapons (and future weapons) in this game

I read somewhere (maybe on the form) that once bows and makeshift weapons are out, gun loot rate will be turned down. I do not know about Eastern Countries, but I know that in my tiny town in no where Illinois, finding guns by loot stores/homes would probably net you a huge stockpile. I am not sure that guns should be rare, and in real life I would chose a rifle over a commercial bow (not even makeshift one) any day. I agree with OP. The devs should get really specific on ammo and have a wide variety of ammo types and gun types. So for example, finding a Desert Eagle would be both rare and awesome, but trying to find the .50 AE ammo would be just as rare. A wide variety of ammo types and differing ammo rarity will naturally stop people from walking around like Rambo. It would also add interesting decisions when looting. It also might make ammo a trading commodity like food or water. Also, why not add civilian variants of weapons with semi-auto fire only. If the devs reduce guns to a rarity, I will be very disappointed. It would also make little sense to the setting of DayZ. -
[Day Z: Standalone] Controller Default Layout
stc105 replied to IncrediBurch's topic in General Discussion
That is weird. I suggest to everyone that they use a third party tool (like JoyToKey) to play this game. The x-input is messed up, and pretty much unplayable. Using JoyToKey, I can set advance key commands or switch controller mappings on the fly. I tried mouse and keyboard, and the controls felt awkward, which is strange because most games I play I use the mouse. I setup the gamepad, and now the game feels intuitive. Yes a mouse is more accurate, but with the ability to change dead zones and sensitivity, you can get pretty close to mouse like accuracy.
