Ran into 6 people in Novo tower on a 30 people server. No team mates or anything either. We were all signalling and waving....until someone took the first shot! Loving the layout over there. Leads to some good guerilla street fighting.

That is the definition of testing. Often when you fix bugs they create others, testers (us.) find them, report them to the devs and coders and they fix them. This is the whole point of alpha testing. This is the state of the game right now. Report them and wait.

I am not sure of my speeds but I have no broadband at home. I play with a 3G vodem stick or I tether with my Galaxy S4. I'm also only in a 3G extended zone so not full 3G and no 4g. (I wish!) Pings around 100 to 200 most of the time and I play on mostly Australian servers from New Zealand. Overall it's still playable. I get a random lag spike or desync but I can still get the drop on most zombies and players. I can't wait for optimisation or broadband though but for now it's okay.

I'm glad you took one for the team! Note to self, don't chop or stab flammable gas. But would you mind trying to pinch the next one you see please? I'm not sure what that does and I'm not willing to find out. Go! Report back here with results please....

I use pretty much the first pistol that I find bullets or mags for. Until I find something compatible I carry it all then ditch what I don't need. I only use them for zombie killing. I find I shoot the first and maybe attract 2 more then there gone.

I'm thinking though that if you're shooting at a car you're going to mess it up or blow it up or ruin it. Unless you already have all the parts and pieces to fix it with you then just shooting up a car isn't going to be the best option. I just hope the devs can balance it so they cars are not invincible because of this. But it might encourage trade for a ride!

Oh yes! I that would be a good option. 10 minute zombie mode but only as an option. It would stop some campers and make people just quickly pick and choose your gear before you come back.

Now I see so many posts about people killing on sight always and no one wants to talk to anyone because more often than not you will get shot. I have had maybe 10% of any encounter end like that. I do tend to play on servers that only have 10 to 20 people on them so maybe we are all just trying to re-gear or survive but I am just wondering if the majority of the people in these forums that complain about it are the minority. 40 of 40 servers are different and I would think most people join them to PVP. Do you find you get killed on sight every time like most posts on here about that topic say or is it like 50/50 or what? Is it just the minority whiners that are making the majority of the KOS posts? For example I was on a server yesterday with 15 people on. I was in the Cherno fire station. I came down the 1st floor stairs only to walk into a guy. I had no gun out but one on my back, (No ammo.) and was not even expecting anyone.(Dumb I know.) I yell out, "don't kill me, I'm just gearing up!" He says "No worries I won't shoot you." My first thought is 'ya right, I'm dead. So I just casually walk by him, get out the back door and run like mad! About 5 minutes later I'm in the grocery store. He comes running up, (Singing over voice, I am not joking!) and says, "Are you the guy I just met?" I say, "yes." and he says, "can you kill me and take all my gear, I want to spawn and meet up with some friends." I say, "Are you serious?" and he starts taking off all his gear, clothes and the rest and lets me pick axe him in the face! He even says as he's dying that I should have done it in one head shot so he didn't suffer! lol. I'm fully geared now. Thanks mate! Almost all my chance meetings go like this if I start talking. I have even gained some Steam friends from random encounters.Anyone else see a trend towards interaction more than KOS lately?

I played heaps of the mod and I find that I now enjoy just running around learning the map. With choppers and cars you usually stick to the roads so you don't ruin your vehicle. (Far to easy to do in the mod.) With choppers you fly from point a to b or go pick up a newly spawned mate and bring them back to your base or their tent. Now I am learning the map on foot and it is completely satisfying. I think if you're going to hand out in one spot the whole time once we do get vehicles you are going to be at a disadvantage. Your car or chopper or bike or horse is going to die. You're going to need to parachute out or dismount or go find a tire or engine and you aren't going to have any idea where you are. Like others said though it sounds like the OP is just in it for the PVP so each to their own but once this games becomes more complete I am going to know soooo much more about the new and existing areas than the rest of my friends who are still playing the mod. A good skill to have.

Sorry to say but Op sounds like the stereotypical American as the world sees them. It's like when I watch The Amazing Race and they are running around in foreign countries complaining that no one speaks English. Not meant to be an attack to you but just the first thought that comes to my mind being a Canadian in New Zealand. :) Back to the question. I find that instead of alt/tab or steam overlay I have my ipad beside me or my s4. Each has several apps with a map or if you don't want to use the map they also have the words of every city in both languages. You can scroll though the names until you find the correct one and then read it in English. I use iZurvive for the map but the free version of DayZ Central SA also has a crafting guide so you can quickly look up how to make a splint or what ammo goes with what gun. I think you can only get that one on Android though so far.

Anyone else find they are having less KOS meetings than before, the same or just hit and miss? After I posted this yesterday I jumped on and was in Balota with a server of about 20 people. (started off with about 3.) Running from the police station to the tower I see a guy in the distance coming from the tower. (I hope you know who you are!) I hear him talking and he runs right at me yelling, "Friendly, Friendly!" I say it too and he ran a full 2 laps around me. I said stop moving and he stops and shoots me dead. I was fully geared and he looked like he was too. Please noobs and COD kids! If you are not friendly don't take the cheap way out and yell friendly. At least have the decency to yell something like, "DEFEND YOURSELF!" before you shoot me in the back. Give someone a fighting chance. If you die too bad but at least you get the satisfaction of the adrenaline rush and a battle!

Haha, like your life flashing before your eyes? I like it! A bit hard to implement as most of the clips would be RUN, RUN, RUN, RUN, RUN, RUN, RUN, RUN, DRINK, CHOP WOOD, COOK FOOD, BURN FOOD...repeat.

Most of the time when I see someone lose connection there is then a BattleEye message with a reason. I wonder if this is more for BE testing then for Dayz testing? Remember, we're testing this game.

What about as in some versions of the mod it would show all kills in words with distance and with what weapon. So how about "you are dead" with that underneath?
