Give him credit, he's smart enough to stay off the ladders and stairs.

150 hours, killed 3, all in self defense. I died in 2 of these encounters from wounds or friends of theirs.

Saying you don't like it is not the same as saying it should not be part of the game. I don't care for it but recognize that it exists and always will in a game with people, guns and little consequences. KoS happens in the context of playing the game, people with guns in a lawless world will kill each other for fun or survival. To me, that makes it a valid part of the game. I would not describe it as a "feature" though. It's not an inherent part of the game by design; KoS is a human behavior, not imposed on us by the game mechanics. The fact that humans have free will to act however they want is part of the appeal of DayZ. Combat logging is not playing the game, it's avoiding the game. There is no in-game context for vanishing completely. If you're really interested in reading opinions on this, there's a handful of threads like this over the last 2 weeks to read.

I sense a trend. He did this yesterday about bleeding out, too. Total rant, complain about how no one listens to him, then softens his tone and tries to act as if he's got a valid bug or suggestion. Next time you want to rant, wait 10 minutes, calm down, and skip straight to the suggestion part. You'll find people will be a bit nicer.

2% were left unscathed, but judging by what I've seen, they also turned into enraged, violent people.

Seriously do something to the blood loss.......
PJSleaze replied to Zjasuu's topic in General Discussion
My recommendation has changed; don't play like a loser. Look, if you start out geared and loaded with bandages and guns, that kind of defeats the whole "try to survive" challenge. The challenge is to start with nothing and survive. So yeah, you start as a miserable loser by design. It's up to you, not the devs, to take it from there. -

My recommendation is not to lose blood. Problem solved! -

We have the construction worker already. Add those two and the appropriate gestures for YMCA and we'll have a dance party in Elektro -
"Strike" "That was outside!" BANG! BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG! "Strike"

Yeah, because bandits and KoSers are part of the game, they're acting in game. Hiding behind a tree and vanishing is not. Again, it is not playing at all. And if collecting gear is so much fun, hell, they get a chance to do it all over again if things end badly.

Yeah, the language in the thread is over the top. People can argue the point without being jerks. The point stands though- you call it "playing the way they want" but it is in fact NOT playing the game. It is the antithesis of playing; it is quitting at the very moment when the game becomes a game, when interactions and decisions are most important, they'd rather take the easy way out and leave everyone else standing around. This is the same as the kid who says "I'm taking my ball and going home". Note- I'm not a PvPer, and I think you can for the most part avoid it entirely if you want. I don't think it's an unrealistic element in a post-apocalyptic world. It is part of the game, and always will be. Learning how to prevent PvP (edit-PvP death) through your words and actions is part of the challenge of survival. Logging is undeserved survival.

I'm going to continue to try and use logic here. Vanishing into thin air when presented with danger is an unintended result for a survival game.
-
it is in the game to log you out, that is it'spurpose. Using it strategically within the context of the game is an exploit.
-
Not true at all. It's a shitty way to play, but it's still playing. You're still subject to the dangers of the environment and other players. You're still an active participant in the world.
-
Kind of takes the survival sim element out of the game if survival can be achieved by hitting "exit". At that point- the OP is right. Why play? You're not playing the game.
-
When players meet, you run the risk of one players "playing the way they want" conflicting with someone else's. Look at all the KOS talk. In this case though, one player wantsthis encounter to come to an end in the game- the other does not, right? Ending the conflict out of game by logging is not "playing" at all. It's quitting. So now, you have one player unable to play the way they want and another player who stops playing when there's adversity. See the problem here? Understand why this is frowned upon?

Yeah, I do like the street sign and highway idea. The occasional "route 12" (or whatever) sign on the longer roads between cities would be helpful and would make sense.
-
what, you mean like these?
-
Yeah, that's what happened to me. Second floor and everything, except that guy was a much better shot- these clowns who shot me had no chance without cheating. I'm sure they'll fix it too, meanwhile, I'll skip the airbases for a bit.

150 hours. Saw my first last night- 2 guys walking and shooting through walls at Balota on HC servers.
-
This ones for all you more guns more guns people.

Awesome. Now anytime someone bitches about KOS I'm going to think about the mom scene. -
Yup, ran into two guys walking through walls last night at Balota. Pain in the ass, isn't it?
-
I'm assuming people walking through walls is a known cheat/hack? Just got killed by someone who walked through the second story wall in a jailhouse, and when I returned fire, he disappeared back into the wall. He shot out of nowhere at me and missed. I made it downstairs, he appeared down there with a friend whose gun barrel protruded through the wall to shoot me. Can't complain too much; first time in 100+ hours and I was in one of those places that draws these maggots. Still, shitty way to go.
