Why do people try and turn this game into COD, Arma or Battlefield, this game will never be as good as those games in shooting department, and that's not aim of the devs, this is a survival game. If you want infinite ammo, super guns that blow everything up, you have purchased the wrong game. Survival is boring, there is no fun in looking for food, fearing for your life. Not one complaint on these forums about infinite sprinting time, everyone wants snipers and guns, yet they claim they want realism.

Standalone Discussion/Critique from an Old DayZ Fan.
ld-airgrafix replied to TOPMO3's topic in General Discussion
Agree with everything except sprinting zombies, and 5-6 hit death. Atm some zombies almost match your running speed, but not your sprinting speed. Seems easy now just to sprint past them, but when they add more zombies and getting tired effect, apparently even a heart attack is in plans, it wont be as busy. Strongly against 5-6 hits resulting in player death, mainly because this is an online game, and server lag occurs frequently, so i really dont want to die because of this. Just take a look at infestation, they have 3 -4 hit approx, and death always results due to lag and glitches. I think zombies are fine the way they are now, maybe reduce their supervision, at the moment as long as nothing obstructs their vision, they will see you a km away, makes it hard to sneak around because they see you way before you even make it to a town and buildings. Also why dont they concentrate on fixing zombies glitching through walls its one of bigger errors in the game -

ld-airgrafix replied to Rick1633's topic in General Discussion
Happened to me, i ran back to loot my body, pristne m4 with lots of ammo never fired. I found my legs sticking out of the rock, axe sticking out just sligtly, couldnt loot anything. -
I found a scope and attached it to sks, how exactly do you look through it, as 1st person doesnt work, yes i did press spacebar? And no i wont sit at top of hill waiting for easy targets, thats too boring. Im a survivor and play like one

What animations would add depth and immersion to the game?

I would love to see just one thread in this forum, where a snotty little spoiled brat doesnt try to put someone down. -
What animations would add depth and immersion to the game?
ld-airgrafix replied to Roshi (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
Extra animations, just means more lag and crashing for the game. Whats the point in having a realistic movement when you cant play the game. Im quite happy not having extra animations as long as game plays smoothly. Gamed like Ass. Creed contain alot of trigger animations, which means when character walks into a certain area, animation is automatically played, i dont think this would work well in a game like dayz. -
No xp, but I like your idea for reducing unnecessary killings, I'm not talking about kos, I'm talking about camping players that wait for others. I had a similar idea, mine was to introduce morale, and just like hunger it would go down, (although at much slower rate) when not in presence of other players. Kill a player and your morale drops, kill enough and it would affect your health. Things like meeting other players, maybe lighting a fire, taking a swim in a pond, even reading those unnecessary books we see everywhere. This would definitely cause players to stop killing and even congregate in large numbers, creating communities.

For broken legs, the only place I have found sticks are those stable like buildings, which have stairs and a little room upstairs, sticks are usually found on ground level. As for guns, they probably have the right amount spawning, maybe reduce slightly, however ammo needs reducing by more than half. I play an average of 1-2 hours a day, I have no problem to fully gear myself with 2 rifles, 2 pistols, and enough food and water. In an apocalypse, this is very highly unlikely, especially weapons. I want a little more struggle from lack of food, and zombies, not from other players just because they have ammo in abundance and are bored.

I would like to be able to use empty cans as target practice and as perimeter warning, eg putting cans on a string, let us know when a zombie is near and also another player
-
All good points however, I got killed (it wasn't a zombie, or hunger/thirst, or even a bus) I can only assume another player, and I say assume because I didn't hear a gun shot, just got the black screen of death.

What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?
ld-airgrafix replied to RadikulRAM's topic in General Discussion
I just encountered a possible cheater, however he was in a group. I was running, freshly spawned, didn't care much as had nothing to loose. He was faster than me running circles around me but also phasing in and out, is he a cheater or just server lag? -
When it happened to me, I thought what are the bloody chances, one other player on, and just happens to be in smallest town on map where I was. Then I read and it's happened to a lot of people like yourself.

Heaps of topics on adding ideas and suggestions. I thought i would start a thread about items we could do without. Why, you ask, because of performance issues. I read somewhere that adding 100 or more zombies to this game could seriously have big impact on memory and cause crashes. So lets start: - having to add a battery to flashlight is unnecessary, just a waste of space. - different size gas containers, one would be enough. - one axe model is enough - spray cans (surely they will be used for something but in a real life survival scenario not really) - fire extinguishers as mellee weapons arent needed (even though atm they are the only thing that works against zombies besides fire axe) same goes for crowbars and hacksaws - helmets and clown masks, fun but if they take up space restricting number of zombies pls remove. - unless number of weapons spawning is greatly reduced, pls remove hunting knives (keep if they will be used for cutting up animals) - reading books, nice touch but truly unnecessary as well as paper and pens - first aid kit, this is a touchy one as its really needed and it gives dayz something no game out there has, but do we really need to have it so complex, blood types, saline bags, etc. i would be happy with only badages if it allowed adding more zombies or animals. -rotten fruit and detergents, not much use except torturing your prisoner, fun but once again takes up space. These are just suggestions, if you have any others pls add or even if you disagree with some, discuss them

They meant chairs and tables, bugs and dragonflies you see everywhere,Each weapon contains its own animations and scripts, not to mention textures and body. Same goes for books. If what they say is true, why do we have identical houses, buildings and so on.

Last few days im having few issues with gameplay. For example my mellee weapon will go into combat mode when i press space, but when i click to hit a zombie, nothing happens just the sound occurs and zombie doesnt get hit. Usually takes me few weapon switches to get rid of this. Also the weapon in my hand fires on its own every now and then, so much for sneaking around. Few other little issues that never occured before, but is it only me or are u guys experiencing this as well?
-
I dont think its got anything to do with weapon up or not. Weapon is up and sound of hitting works fine, problem is animation. Anyone else have their weapon go off for no reason?

What the f*ck is going on on the coast?
ld-airgrafix replied to Zjasuu's topic in General Discussion
I would like to point something out, camping on a hill or a house and waiting for players to spawn just to shoot them for fun, is not KOS, its cowardice. Do not confuse yourself as a bandit either you are on the same level as a cheat, even bandits have some honor, you have none -
Funny you should say that as in my recent gameplay, every zombie that managed to touch me made me bleed

Players need an Incentive to value their life above gear
ld-airgrafix replied to 97ADU Doug's topic in General Discussion
I like the way you play, and I'm very similar to you when it comes to my character, although I have died numerous times, and still haven't killed anyone or even shot at anyone. The fact that you kept one character and never been killed just amazes me.Whether you will be able to keep this character going for a long time, I highly doubt it. However when you get killed first time it will make a lot of difference on how you got killed. If you get to exchange a few shots you won't mind so much, however when you get killed by "camping" players you will be very upset. You have spent so many hours with this character, played this game for what it is, a survival game, only to be killed by some coward, or even worse a cheat -
Im in process of making a survival game, no zombies. In few short weeks of putting an hour here and there, watching you tube videos, i so far have a character walking and running. Inventory and soon crafting. Hell if i had 30 mill the game would be finished by now Just kidding, its not easy making games, even at simple stage i have come across glitches

Global objectives that would give a purpose in surviving
ld-airgrafix replied to VonHabdekeiten's topic in Suggestions
Im up for this, awesome idea. Of course since there arent many towns to fence off plus no. of players heavily outnumber the no. of houses, i see problems. Not sure if it will be introduced, but i would like to see crafting of huts and shelter where u choose, similar to RUST. But not to that extent, a simple one bedroom hut, where we can store food water weapons etc. -
I think just bandaging yourself in a high risk area is a problem, but maybe antibiotics like in Infestation could be a way. Of course make them very rare
-
I would like when sneaking, not to make so much noise. I wouldnt mind a button assigned when behind a player to grab and cut his throat.
