all survival games atm sacrifice realism to make the gameplay harder, especially in hunger/thirst department. the constant need for feeding and drinking ruins the game. Not to mention few swings with an axe and its ruined, really??? -

Same here but i have server hopped, for an axe and a pick, because i wanted to try crafting bow, fire etc. i wouldnt do it for weapons, but still it felt like cheating. -

I think the only way to make dayz hardcore is to lock players to servers. No matter how difficult they make this game, server hopping will always cause issues. Yes make food scarce as hell, players will just server hop till they have enough food or ammo, pretty much what happens now alot. -
If you left your house to go shops, do you get a msg that someone is robbing you? I want bases to be left unguarded as it will force people to hide their bases instead of barricading right next to army bases and such.

I dont think finding food was the problem for OP. I think he just complains that all that valuable time he could have spent looking for guns had to be spent eating and drinking. All that precious space in his backpack should be filled with mags for his guns and not food -

These two posts pretty much sum up 95% of dayz player base. Barely a thread about the need of hordes of infected/zombies, and the ones that do pop up usually get locked, as they apparently have been discussed, yet the threads discussing the need for weapons of mass destruction are everywhere. -

The fact that you are not finding anything, just means devs are doing a good job at making this game a survival game. Did you expect to log in and get armed straightaway??? This games isnt all about guns.

Tell that to the prick who chased me from coast all the way up the mountain, but this was just when .49 was released, and melee was still buggered. Now its wait, move side ways, run up to their side and whack. I killed 3 recently, didnt get hit once, few minutes later, i nearly get killed by one, hits just wouldnt register

Some zombies still glitch, not all. But locking yourself in a house doesnt do you any good besides taking a breather to bandage yourself or reload a weapon. Lucky for you, you came at right time, as all melle weapons work efficiently. If you dont have a weapon, i would suggest looting barns, they have sickles or even machetes

I think staying indoors helps a little. but the temperature drop itself isn't constant, sometimes I get "im cold" status just few minutes after using fire to warm myself, but sometimes it doesn't happen for a long time

I would suggest carrying a log at all times. Axes are so rare and if you dont have a pickaxe for stones to sharpen your axe, you could find yourself in trouble. Of course this only applies to players who play this game properly, and not camp next to one city all the time or server hoppers. Also is it just me or does staying indoors warm you up???

I tried sticks, doesnt work. I agree with you, but just like twigs and sticks, woods are full of broken logs as well, maybe its something that will change in future. Also you can find stones in barns and even bedrooms, but none outside. -

knives cant be sharpen with stones, but I think they will have to rethink the current "ruined" system. Lets face it, even a blunt axe will take your head off -

Me too, but there is an increase in random zombie growls, that occur in the woods
