    Question/bug with combat logging

Thanks a lot. Is there any update about people losing their gear after logging out and later log in to another server which is connected to the same hive? Official servers such as Multiplay etc?

    Question/bug with combat logging

This unfortunately is a bug that seems to affect more and more people. I had it happen to me 3 times in 2 days now. It's very annoying. Also, the moving around when you're already logout thing seems to happen when you log out from a prone position. I was testing it with some people, and the ones that were standing up just sat down as soon as they logged out. The one that was prone started doing some Macarena dance ....

    Question/bug with combat logging

Just don't log in the middle of combat. "wanted to log anyway" is an excuse not to run away proper and handle the situation. The character will stand up and move on the spot. I think it's being done on purpose and I don't mind it at all. Make sure the area is clear before you log out. if bullets start flying, don't log.

Friendlies are plentiful in DayZ- At least, for me

I don't really trust people in this game. The only people I trust are the ones I'm talking to on teamspeak. Last night I've decided to change that. I was in Berenzino walking around, checking the rooftop of one of the apartment for a PU scope for my SKS. A guy started talking to me from the stairs below, if it was okay for him to come up and he meant to harm. He just was running for some guys and wanted to hide. Normally I would have told him to look elsewhere but okay, I wanted to give it a shot (hehe)... He climbed up and started talking about his friend who was taken by some bandits and being tortured on the coast. At this point my other friend climbed up on the roof as well and we had a chat. He asked if we had any ammo for his SKS. I did, but I said that I didn't. I did not trust him that much. He said it was no problem, and if it was okay if he took the backpack that was on top of the roof. No problem buddy, go ahead. So we make our way down and go towards the hospital in Berenzino. I went to the waterpump and all of the sudden we get shot at from a house. My buddy is dead at this point and I leg it towards another house. I look through the window and see one guy trying to find me. I shoot him in the head and immediately get shot at from another direction. First an M4, then a Mosin and SKS. I try to figure out where they are.. I see two guys running down the hill......Wait.. is that.... Goddamnit.. It's the little shorts wearing son of a bitch with our red backpack from before. They come closer and I can hear them laugh and him explaining how he trapped us. I think they thought that they already killed me as I went prone in a building. So I see Mr. Hotpants coming up the stairs with his buddy. As soon as his little head pops up, I show him, then shot his buddy, however I was exposed as their other friend shot me right through the window all the way from the hospital building. So I've tried. I've tried trusting someone I didn't see before. I got killed as a reward. (nice intense fight though). However, I'm going back to my old play style.

[POLL] Do you regret buying the SA?

Voted no.... I've had more fun in this game than I've had in many "completed" games..

    Riddeled with cheaters

Sure, the way he words it, is completely laughable, however his issue is not. I've also noticed this kind of thing more and more, combined with teleport hacking and it can completely ruin the gameplay. Then I rage a bit by punching other fresh spawns in the face and decide to wait for a fix. And if I would open a topic about it, I would do it in a respectable way towards the people reading it. How can you expect for people to take your ragepost seriously and for them to think "oh no, we should do something about this right now" ...
  10. It might be solved by simply quickly logging out and back in (and wait 280 £%"£% seconds).. However there is also a chance that you got shot in the old server in the 30 seconds you remain on that server after logging out (because it prevents combat logging). In this case there you've lost everything and obviously you have to start again.

Do you leave your morality at the door?

Good topic. I understand what you feel completely, however how I interact with players in this game does not reflect my personality most of the time. For me, I do leave my morality at the door most of the time. I can have days where I KOS, I can have days where I help out fresh spawns, I can have days where I completely betray a person. I've met some awesome people in this game who I could have never interacted with if I would have shot them on sight. However, for me a game is a game. You have the opportunity to be a different person and that is what I do. Example: If I see a woman in this game come running at me screaming for help and yelling she's friendly, she will get a bullet to the brain. If it's real life, its a completely different situation. I love this game because you can mess around a lot. You can be betrayed or surprised in so many ways.. I think I will never get bored of it.

    SKS vs Mosin

Personally I tend to love the Mosin for long distance including the LRS. The SKS is awesome for mid range combat. I hear mixed reviews, however I've won quite some fights thanks to this little rifle. Especially with the PU scope it's a killer.
  13. Guys, screaming "I'm friendly, I'm friendly" is a deathwish. When you come running at me screaming that you're friendly, you can be friendly laying down on the street with a bullet in your head.

    Stories of "Being Helpful"

I put this somewhere else, but it's more fitting in here: I was in the hotel in Elektro looting a corpse, I hear footsteps downstairs... So I tell him "Hey buddy, I can hear you walking down there, what do you want?" He said he was sorry for running into me, but he was getting sniped from a guy in the hayfields and he ran for cover. I asked him if he had a weapon, and he said he picked up a SKS but he did not have any ammo. I told him to come up with the weapon on his back, and don't make a sudden move so we could spot the guy who was shooting at him and take him out. He comes up, I'm aiming at him, he panicks and tells me to not shoot him.. I said that he shouldn't worry and that he could come in carefully. He sits next to me and points me towards the guy in the hayfield. I spot up, but he is just searching for cover behind a haystack. I tell the guy I could give him some SKS ammo and for him to run out, go around the hayfield while I keep the guy in the field pinned down by mosinfire.. He agrees. I drop a stack of 20 rounds, taking a huge risk, but he's good for it and runs out, circling around the hayfield. As soon as I spot the other guy, I take a shot at him and he ducks back behind the haystack. This goes on for a few minutes until my newly aquired friend runs up behind him and pops him in the head. Mission accomplished! I put my gear on my back and sprint towards the hayfield. There is my new friend in the dead guy's gear. Thanking me and telling me this is the first time he's got a loadout like this. Full of pride he shows me the fully modded Mosin and the extra M4 the guy had on his back. I told him he did a great job. He then said he would go to a better position to sort out his new gear and explore more in Cherno. He turned around and right there I shot him in the back of the head with my Magnum. I then told my friend on teamspeak who was running all the way from Kamishovo to come out the barn where he was hiding for a few minutes and get the gear. There we were, succesfully used a person to kit out my friend. Because I'm a dick, and if you trust someone who you've just met for 3 minutes, chances are you will die soon. I will use you for the benefit of my own and my friends. And that is what is making this game so amazing! The psychology, the social interaction.... Welcome to Day Z. Yeah it's buggy, yeah it's not finished, but it's a wonderful game.

    Is Dayz over?

Great summary LaughingJack... I hate all the panic and hate the community throws at him. He's been the most transparent and dialogue engaging kind of person I've seen when it comes to development and future plans. I hope he can see through the many rotten apples... Behind it is a massive community that support him...

    Goodbye Dayz

Completely agree. If people run at me screaming friendly friendly, they get shot in the head or in the legs instantly. Screaming friendly does not give you a free pass. No, I don't trust you when you come running at me, no I don't want to deal with you. Do it properly. I was in the hotel in Elektro looting a corpse, I hear footsteps downstairs... So I tell him "Hey buddy, I can hear you walking down there, what do you want?" He said he was sorry for running into me, but he was getting sniped from a guy in the hayfields and he ran for cover. Vendetta mask spawn ?

Finally a way to shoot the crap out of fedora wearing "anonymous" asshats. No a fedora does not look good on you no matter what you say. You're not classy, you look like an idiot.
  19. Okay, after going over some patch notes, future planning and upcoming features I was discussing this with some other people last night... First of all, we are playing a videogame. Not a real life simulator. The main reason of a game is to entertain. If you want to be entertained in a single player environment or a multiplayer environment, it does not really matter, as long as things are fun and enjoyable. Day Z has always been a lot of fun. The Mod started with a lot of issues and is still being plagued with a lot of these issues, but it does not take the fact away that it always has been an amazing experience and I've spend hours of fun and social interaction with lots and lots of people. When the SA got released I did not know what to expect. My first impression was "hmmm it's okay but I will keep playing the mod until they release some more content" however, 2 or 3 days more of playing got me hooked. The graphics, the fun social interaction where people tend to be complete psychos, the will to survive and not be seen by other players... I love it and I still do. Sure there is still a lot to be worked on, sure there are some flaws and of course I do realize that this game is in Alpha status and that a lot of things are not working as intended, however I can honestly say that this is one of the most fun gaming experiences I've had in many many years. Thumbs up for the entire team that has been working on this. The laughs me and my friends have had playing this game.... I can not remember having so much fun and being so excited about a game as with this one. I've been working for a company that released the biggest MMO out there, I've had my fair share of experience in debugging, interaction and dealing with new content and the reaction of the players that are reviewing this content, so I am also not surprised by the reaction of a lot of people thinking that this game has been made just to cater their needs only and whatever they do not like, they want to have removed. This is not one of these kind of reactions. This is just a mere suggestion/opinion of someone who is enjoying this game a lot and would like to know if there are more likeminded people out there. This game is in Alpha status and it could still go into any direction, so sharing my opinion should not be a problem. So here is my opinion: This game got released in alpha status with a set of features and gameplay mechanics. Most of it was based on social interaction and combat. It made it a lot of fun. Things like handcuffs, holding up people and things like that could result in the most hilarious situations. Yes, the game is a survival game, but at that point it was until a certain extent. So in the last couple of months, more and more patches got released and more content has been added. It has been a lot of fun with implementing new guns, clothes, colours, towns and optimizations. The bleeding system got better, however a little alarmbell started to go off when I first noticed a "blood testing kit". My first reaction was "hey, are they not taking this a little bit TOO serious?" But well, me and my group of friends did not take notice to it and we kept on going. After some patches I started to read things about a defib kit, heart rates, blood types and more and more realistic characteristics regarding the human body. I discussed this with some other people and all of us basically came to the same conclusion.... We were hoping this would not get too serious. Right after we finished discussing this, I was checking the new patch notes and "heart attacks" were going to get introduced. I was reading up about this and this is the main reason I wanted to open this topic. Could it go TOO far in DayZ? Could it take the human body and interactions too far? Could it go at the cost of fun? Don't get me wrong. I am all for a survival game, however I would not enjoy a game that would take itself too serious regarding your health and diet. There is a fine line between semi-realism and fun and complete realism. Most people do not play a game only to get confronted with the same realism they face when they turn off the computer. I really hope that this game does not decide to take the direction of taking these aspects too serious, and try to keep it fun. Of course there will always be a group of people who want complete realism, but who would expect that when you play a game based on a ZOMBIE apocalypse? Please keep things fun and accessible for everybody and do not try and put in as many things as possible and then STILL need to optimize, put in vehicles, loot etc. People are even suggesting the ability to shit in the woods, smoke drugs... come on.. Could we first work on fixing the base and go from there? The basics that the mod already provided and proved to be really successful? Do we really need heart attacks, clogged up arteries, explosive shits and things like this? What is survival for you? Is it to not be spotted, collect fluids and food, and retreat and find a group of trustworthy people and hunt down gear to increase your chances of survival in combination of persistent storage units like tents that will still be there after server restarts, or does survival for you mean not getting a wet tshirt and a random chance to drop dead from a heart attack while you are taking a shit in the woods smoking a bong? There will be people saying it is a combination of both, but what would you sacrifice for the basic need of having fun in a game without having to think of a hundred of other things that will just stress you out instead of having a great gameplay experience? I still hope that the game will stick to it's core. As I said before, this is not a rant or a whinepost, just my humble opinion. In my opinion it would be great to introduce the features that were present in the mod first (after optimizing and current bug solving) and then see what could be added more to the game. I personally do not need a patch that introduces loads of new things every week. I know this game is in alpha, I am patient and prefer quality over quantity. So I would prefer that the Dev team would take the time they need to work on core implementations and optimizations first and keep delivering an amazing game like they have been doing so far. Thanks for the long read. :) I hope there are more people out there who share my opinion.
  20. Thank you! I was just disappointed with the tone of others though, but I guess I can't expect anything from anyone else, not even the basic decent way of communicating with another. But that's absolutely fine. Maybe it would have an unfair advantage if mod players would adapt really quick to the SA, however I do feel like the game is possessing the capabilities to be picked up by anyone now. I'm 32 myself and I did encounter an 11 year old last week and I've helped him gear up and send him on his way. It is a sort of accessibility that I like since it creates a very diverse base of players. It's the same with every game though. There will always be people who feel they are the "elite" and think that the game they play should only be accessible to people who are hardcore and there is a casual base who logs in at night or in the weekend for a few hours to play. I am just simply too busy with work, however I do love this game for what it is and I really anticipate what it will bring next. Maybe I am getting worried about nothing. I hope so. If they do decide to throw in some ultra realistic features, I just would love to see that these features would be implemented with more options to survive (as in storage which will be there after server restarts). I know this is going to happen, so I will sit back and wait and enjoy the game for what it is now.

    FPS in Cities

So you are playing Experimental right now? Does it really add a lot of improvement FPS wise compared to the current stable build?
  23. I agree with you here. Maybe authenticity is a better word in some cases. However I think when people have to wait too long with certain major aspects such as running, they will just drop their stuff, suicide and pick up their stuff again. Same as they are doing with the current spawn locations. It's a difficult task to find a way to implement the right things. Everybody has a different opinion as is clearly visible in the topic, and that's good. It keeps things interesting for everybody :D
  24. If you could read, I know what Day z is about. I am just suggesting some things which could be considered. If you refer to the masses as "simpletons", you might want to get off your pedestal. Just because you look at a game in a different way than others doesn't make you special. I try to look at it differently and try to put up a decent discussion. It seems quite impossible though as people just seem to sperg before putting down anything constructive without assumptions regarding another person. I already told you, I love the game. I loved the mod. I just want to add my 2 cents. I keep on playing no matter what. For me the good and fun things always outweigh the things I don't like so much. I Love this game and will eagerly await it's future development.
