Why Were Helicopters "Overpowered" In The Vanilla Mod?
Mathylde replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
I havn't played the mod, but from what have been said in this thread, It appears that there were 2 issues with helis : 1) ability to control several helis (all for maximun prejudis) (i.e : denying heli to any one but you). That obviously comes from the ease to acquire and maintaine helis. One helis should be so difficult to repair and maintaine that even flying it to spot and destroy other heli should be a difficult decision. You don't fly an heli on a dare in a post-apo world. Acquiring an heli can be made more difficult by increasing the amount of stuff you need to repair it to a flying state. Maintaining an heli can be made difficult easely with one thing : fuel. An heli doesn't fly on car gaz or diesel. It require aircraft grad fuel. Make that difficult enough to acquire and you'll see an heli in the sky only once or two times a week. 2) ability to see every thing from a heli. Something has changed between the mod and SA. From a dev blog/interview, i've read that in the Mod you could see at virtualy any distance. In SA, servers don't send to you informations of what is in the world unless it is in a 1800m radius from you. And the higher you'll fly, the smaller the radius of what you'll see on the ground will be. This radius could even be ajusted for when you are on a chopper to be smaller. For me, as long as issue 1) is porperly adressed and 2) get further adjusment, helis would be ok. -
Did you missed the part where it's about odds ? That would be quite embarassing, since that is the key point of what i've posted. When you go on a low pop server during prime time to gear up, what are you expecting the only other dude on the server to do ? Looking at the birds ? He might be. But lets be honest, its realy unlikely. He's most likely here to get geared up, just as you do. Odds to meet people in interesting looting spots are high. These odds are lower on a low population server than on a high population one, but they'r still quite significative. Thinking otherwise is being delusional. Wich is pretty much blaming Murphy's law, bad luck, black magics, the Liberals, Sarah Palin, instead of the mistakes you probably made (missevaluation of the situation and a possible lake of awaerness).

Probably generation gap. He's most likely mistaking forums and Twitter, Mybook, Facespace or Instagram. That's okay, he'll learn one day or an other. TheLoneSuicidal. Since, instead of trying to survive, you're trying to suicide.

The NW Airfield is the most prolific looting spot for military stuff. The NE Airstrip is ofthen the closest military looting spot from where you spawn. You spawn nearly IN Berezino half the time. If you join a server with only 1 other dude on, odds that this dude being at one of these spots are ISS high. And if he's not, he probably is on his way to one of these spots. Because he's most likely doing what you are doing : trying to gearup without meating other players. No Murphy's law here. Just common sense.

Protector cases and ammo boxes can be used to exploit a bug. But this bug exploit goal is to duplicate mags/clips and ammunitions. I found this bug by myself. When i intended to report it, i found out that this bug allready has been. And that it allready has been quite extensivly documented.

Time to fix night time once and for all! (with pool)
Mathylde replied to MLCA's topic in General Discussion
Alpha is the development time when you create features. Beta is when you tune/fix these features. While how bad you see at night needs to be tuned, now is not the time to do so. -
Only 5 bolts per slot. 20 for both 7.62. 30 for 357 and 5.56 40 for 45 .acp, and 9mm 50 (?) for .22 Quivers take 2 slots for 5 bolts, while 10 rounds M4 mags take 1 slot. And except bolt quivers and larger M4 mags, all mags/clips only take 1 slot and have more shots. The crossbow defenitly has a (realistic) disavantage over any other weapon regarding ammunition storage. For these single bolts that you can't load, from your inventory, right click on the bolt an and select "Eject" or "Empty" (i can't remerber)

Several tools exist to make putting the string on tention easier, but not faster since those tools aren't attachments and have to be set in place then put away befor loading the bolt and then being able to shoot.

Will not be playing again until fire axe is un-nerfed

I've brawled 5 Zs simultanously not later than Yesterday. -
I make the decision of shooting or not shooting based on the communication other players give me. And that communication isn't neceraly the verbal, intended one. It can be moves looking like trying to positioning himself out of a LOS, head turning regulary in a specific direction, anything giving away the possible presence of an other player that hasn't been brough to my attention by the guy ? Anything looking remotly suspicious ? He's dead. On a side note, i'm more confortable with player simply waving and communicating on a decontracted way. Nearly never had to shoot or been shot with this kind a players. And then, there's the situation i shoot, no matter what : the totaly uncommunicative guy. No hand signs ? no speaking ? no typing ? I'll warn that without answer i'll shoot. And i did shot a couple of guys that raised their weapon upon my warnings, or simply ignored them. Whether they stood in front of me, or tryed to run away.

I'm not a vegetarian. But how I understand vegetarians it's more because there is no necessity to kill a living being, and no necessity for possible suffering of the said living beings. That's not the killing by it selfe that makes eating meat "bad". That the lake necessity of it. Of course, that doesn't apply to zealot-like vegies for whom eating meat = murdering. I personnaly am more receptive to the (proven) argument stating that the ressources used to grow and feed animals for meat consumption could be used to directly feed humans with a much better efficiancy (resulting in lesser ecological impact and potencialy less starvation over the world by increassing the lands disponibility). That didn't made me a vegetarian, but that argument made me reduce the type and quantity of meat i eat. And paying more attention to the origin and quality of my food in general. In DayZ, i feed my character with whatever i find that'll keep him alive, because it's a game and what you feed a character in a game doesn't matter. At all.

You are pointing two differents things. Both unaccuratly. The thing Melfist is talking about is the unabelity of the human eye to see the lake of new frame between two frames. (note : this lake of perception doesn't prevent the perception of clunkyness, has the human IS able to see this laking frame if it was there). Wich is actually around 20 images per second. (and that's why 30 fps isn't problematic on consoles) The thing AgentNe0 is talking about is the smoothness of a succession of frame the human eye and the human brain can see, past the point where you won't have any perception of any lake of a new frame between two frames. This depends on how fast are moving the things you are rendering/filming. The faster this thing is moving, the more ips you will need to make it look smooth. Anyone can spot the difference between 120 and 240 ips, provided that what they are looking on the screen is moving fast enought. AgentNe0 allthough point out, between lines, at delays between inpout and output (responsisness), often wrongfully directly tied to FPS. While a high FPS is an indicator of your computer's good permences, permences that play a part in any delay that can occure between the input and the output. But having a low FPS doesn't neceraly means you'll have a high input/output delay. This delay is allthough impacted by your input devises (keybord/mouse, or more specifically, how good your computer and these devises communicate) and your output devise (screen, VCR excluded). And ultimatly, the game you are playing (all games don't require the same level of responsiveness) In other words, there is no magical fps number. But fps numbers that suit some games, and fps numbers that suit other games.

I use to hide when i spot someone while i'm traveling from a city to another, and to keep them in my mosin's scope. And there has been this time where my finger failed me and clicked while i didn't intended to. A clean shot, right in the throat. The guy was dead, i cloudn't even try to save him. There has been an other time where i knocked out one of my friends with a shovel instead of a Z. I didn't actually killed him, But his router crashed. And loosing connexion while unconscious killed him.
