    Yup, had this happen many times - thanks to the the wonders of HIVE - weapon gets replaced with beans and blood bags... seems legit. this is why I now only carry one primary weapon and a sidearm, rather than risk having the fkng server eat my 2nd primary weapon.

What the hell do you think is gonna happen when this option isn't available anymore? Don't give me all that honourable BS or it's not allowed... human nature doesn't give a ****. So... go on, really, enlighten us as to what's ACTUALLY going to happen when you effectively "put people in a corner" by removing disconnects eh? Lol, you think they're all just gonna start singing songs, holding hands, swapping beans & weapons making sweet love there on the NW airfield barracks floor like rocket intended? pfff.

    DEbug Fields

    One changelog it's fixed, the next it's not. Try switching servers to Australia/Canada etc and see if they spawn you in the SW forested debug area, then it's a quick run NE back to civilisation. Otherwise you're gonna need to head SE to run your ass out of the NW desert wilderness (2 or 3 cans of food and drink for the journey) will help.
  4. DayZ needs attention in other areas, not sparkly new equipment or guns. i.e. perhaps address the HACKING issue.

    UK 87 - All on server died

    Way too many hackers on now. All kinds of creative hacks too, invisibility, invincibility, insta-kill. If I shoot a guy twice and he doesn't go down - I disconnect - he's probably a hacker like on 25/06/2012 on the NWO US89 server. Blatant hacker with invincibility was on there for 45 minutes, killed 5 people and BattleSh*t didn't do a thing. Admins had to be notifgied on TS and then they stopped the server and probably banned him locally. Nice work BattleSh*t. DEVs are working hard on preventing people from disconnecting, with the 5-sec penalty - because it's a MAJOR concern right.... meanwhile they might want to address the abysmal ARMA multiplayer security/hacker issue FIRST ffs!

Yeah, it's kinda inbred-stupid that the DEVs haven't (in response to all these hacking screw-ups) released a list of APPROVED weapons & vehicles with accompanying pictures, so that players can be 100% whether what they're encountering in-game will/will not get them banned. Arma2 multiplayer security/anti-hacking is a joke, the least they can do is provide a clear source as described above of what is allowed an what not.
  7. Admin are just lazy. If a server says GMT-5 and at the current moment it's 15:00 GMT then the server time in-game should be 10:00, regardless what "timezone" the server is located in. Now many servers lag, crash/reboot and run with little administration and so the actual time they should portray in-game becomes way out of sync. Auto restarts ever 3 or 6 hours, and then resetting the game time to whatever the "GMT-5" or equivalent for that server should be at that specific restart time, would cure this problem and maybe also some other performance bugs, just for good measure. This is 2012, some automation is possible - it's not 1980 where a server administrator has to sleep next to the box and use pure command-line.
  8. Hatchet's are bull**** now. Take a whole primary weapon's slot, are you retarded!?! Or 10 backpack slots, WTF!! No more hunting in the woods for food like a normal outdoorsman, oh no. Now I now gotto go into a friggen building to find WOOD, then carry it with me out into the forest where the animals are, so I can cook the damn meat I might find. dafuq.
  9. Identify Friend or Foe (IFF) is currently broken. Direct comms (VON) doesn't always work. Assuming it does work on the server/client, assuming the other player does have a mic, assuming he has the right key binded, assuming he speaks english - then maybe. Also, vaguely typing "friendly?" on a server of 50 players and a map of 225 square kms - assuming the guy even looks at the chat (probably running or looting and therefore not so focused on the chat but rather on what's around the next corner) and correctly assumes you're talking to him (lots of assumptions already), you might get another vague response of "yes". The list of hurdles goes on. If the current heartbeat thing works out to let's say 100m-200m then great, I'd happily use that. No idea what the max range of the heartbeat thing is - anyone confirm? - but I assume it's close. Now why would I let a guy come so close to me, for argument's sake let's say ... 20m and then I look within and feel in my heart whether he's a bad person? 20m Doesn't leave alot of room to manoeuvre if he suddenly becomes motivated to kill you. Oh and remember, it's frowned upon to disconnect in order to avoid death. So, simples: generally, if I happen to be close enough to a player that he could shoot me, I shoot first. Bandit skin in the old style had certain benefits, namely to cut out all the IFF hurdles. And if a foul-up occurred whereby one friendly player occidentally shot another friendly player, even if the shooter transformed into a bandit, over time his humanity would increase automatically until he had a survivor skin again.

    Debug Forest

    If reconnecting/changing server doesn't help, then HIVE has probably saved your last known location as the debug forest - kinda stupid but yeah. ??why not have HIVE just reject all incoming data which places players at either the forest debug area or the desert debug area? anyway, if the server doesn't fix it, one way to get out of there would be to run NE for about 20 minutes. That should get you back onto the map and close to stary sobor.

    He's talking about 1.7.1 - " Changelog: * [NEW] Recombine 45ACP rounds between M1911 and Revolver rounds " No idea how to combine stuff myself. 1.7.1 seems buggy to me, still testing it out. So far noticed blood status isn't saved.

  14. Sure there is ocean near you? *Might be* that you've been spawned in the NW wilderness, the holding area before you're placed at your last saved location. I've been spawned there about 4 times. The NW wilderness is located about 25kms NW OFF the main Chernarus map. You can run out of there, assuming you have enough food and drink. Gonna take you about 2 hours and as far as I've tested you have to do it in one session - HIVE doesn't save your progress if you're midway - it'll just send you back to the start of the NW wilderness. Lovely bugs.
  15. What are the DEVs going to do in the end? 1. The nights are too damn dark - unrealistically dark "I can't see my hard or barrel in front of my face and the night sky barely gives me some outline detail". 2. The DEVs don't like people adjusting their gamma to fix this foul-up -> so they went and they actually spent ARMA development time and money on "fixing" it and then they got so excited that they they twatted about it with the release of ARMA 2: OA beta build 93825 "...another exploit bitten the dust..." 3. So night time servers (the ones who are too damn dark) are for NVG players only? I mean no-one else can play on them and people without NVGs can't bloody find a barn door if it's in front of them let alone loot numerous spots in order to find ... NVGs? 4. ? the adventure continues
  16. Anyone getting infinitely stuck at loading screen now due to Beta 93825? I've tried 8 different servers - 4 x Beta 93825 and 4 x that were Beta but below 93825 - in the last half hour = all fail. all got stuck at loading and I had to end process.

    Disconnecting to avoid death

    I'd love to see how this 5 sec disconnect penalty pans out. Hell I'm up for a 30sec or even 1 minute penalty - it's all the same reasoning to me: - Problem: I lose control over my character, making him vulnerable. - Logical requirement: Safeguard immediate area so that in that penalty window no harm comes to my character. - Logical action: Kill everything and everyone within reach depending on line-of-sight and shot opportunity. So like I say it's all the same to me. With this disconnect there will be situations where I can't avoid contact and go on my merry way. Consider also the broken or absent VIOP/VON / Identify Friend or Foe system within DayZ, plus the fact that bandit skins were removed... I think I'll adopt a std operating procedure from now on that whenever I see a player within close proximity that's not on my TS, I will shoot first & shoot to kill without hesitation. So I've just gone from a loner to a bandit in proportion to how much of a penalty window there is. Instead of dropping all the ammo I've come across recently, I think I'll hang onto those 420 rounds of 7.62x39mm & 42 rounds of .45ACP and I won't think twice about expending all of it. Yeah for DayZ!

Don't want to hijack thread or anything, but if this group forms (I personally love the idea of hunting bandits) perhaps it's members should pressure the DEVs for creating specific BANDIT skins? Right now it's all great COD style ghillie suit, pmc or camo etc (yeah fun, lets accessorize everything) but the side effect is that it's impossible to tell bandits from survivors, which I think is essential for such a group.
  20. With the broken spawn coding, people are still (me having had this 4 times in 2 weeks) spawned up in the NW wilderness. That's about 20km's off the map. You think I'm just gonna suicide? Hell no I'm gonna run my ass out of there. Now what's gonna happen to all the other players like me above getting themselves out of trouble (not even talking clans or people storing sh*t off the map) by running back... what if some "fix" is implemented whereby people in this off-map zone are kicked or banned?
