Why shotgun sux: More dispersion than the pistols, more than one projectile. With so much spread, the shotguns either MISS or disperse (hue) the damage across the entire body, rather than a localized spot. By hitting different clothing, there's more absorption of damage by the victim's clothing. This would not be an issue if you're breathing down someone's neck, but the shotgun's effective range is pretty anemic it seems. Trivia: Toggling to the mode that fires both barrels at once makes the gun less accurate.

It's too much of a coincidence. The base M4 with no parts has a dispersion of 0.1. The base AKM has a dispersion of 0.008. Notice how it would be close to the M4's dispersion if you subtracted a zero... Here are the dispersion modifiers for the attachments: Wooden hand guard: Nothing. Railed hand guard (not in yet?): -0.0440968 Wooden stock: -0.0440968 Folding stock: -0.0440968 It's like they copy-pasted the M4's stats and said "lol we'll fix it later."
-
The dispersion is almost certainly bugged. I think it's because they added an extra zero in the decimals for the AKM's base dispersion.
-
The AKM has no spread. If you do the calculations on the gun's base dispersion and the stock parts you'll see why. Who needs semi-auto mode, it has no spread. Netcode. Yep. That's why the scope is better than the ACOG. The folding buttstock has the same exact stats as the wooden buttstock. I'm inclined to think the scope isn't centered properly, though. This might explain your misses.

I bet my beans it's for "balance." You can tell by the design choices. Rocket chose the M4 instead of the M16 and made the stock M4 inaccurate. The M4 cannot mount an LRS. The nugget is the sniper archetype for whatever reason and can mount scopes with no rail installation, Some of the guns are bloody stopgaps, whilst others are upgrades (see SKS vs AKM) For example, most of the pistols have a dispersion of 0.03. .357 does the same damage as .45 ACP, so statistically speaking the FNX45 is the best pistol because of its cartridge, magazine size, and attachments. I didn't look at recoil and ignored the longhorn because it's breech-loading.

Weapon condition currently does not affect ballistics yet, but here's how you get damaged weapons: Have a weapon you can put in your inventory Get shot Practically the only way to get non-pristine weapons. I've fired a worn magnum before and there was nothing special about it. This is the only scenario a weapon cleaning kit would help, it'll up your gun's health so it won't get shot to ruined so easily.

If anyone's ever handled the new flare, you may have noticed that you can only light it up in your hands or drop it on the ground. Flares and all other lights need to be mountable to the backpack, period, maybe the melee slot. Make this into the next patch, Rocket.

What. Hand-loaded rounds are about as good as commercial ones if done with nice equipment. I'd rather have a system where dispersion is mostly affected by type of barrel and barrel condition. Your good barrel gets shot out? Can't fix it, you have to throw away your aftermarket barrel, find a new one or lift a stock one off a freshly spawned gun. The condition of the main gun group shouldn't affect accuracy, but make the gun degrade during shooting. Once the main group reaches badly damaged, make it unable to fire and require a cleaning kit. Ammo shouldn't seriously affect dispersion. EVERYTHING IS SOLVED. P.S The term military, milspec, and related terms is a bit of a misnomer. Sure, the military usually has automatic weapons and such but milspec usually means "best cost-to-effectiveness we could get on gear." People fling around the term military like it's super special high-tier shit.

A little bird told me that Rocket removed the mask/helmet combo because he's gonna release another mask that actually does work with helmets irl.
-
This is already a thing in experimental. The run speed is buffed so you run at full sprint speed (?) with all types of weapons out now. I think I slowed down when I got shot, though.

Guns- Which ones do you prefer and why?

I would like to interject and say that the bayonets decrease accuracy, make your gun an antenna and don't do anything yet. -
Never had this happen before. I would probably stand guard and tell my buddies to log off.

AKM with the PSO-1 sight and 75 round mag. spoiler: it has no spread in the current exp branch. -
Everyone has their arms turned into spaghetti about witch-hunting cheaters. Seriously, stop. The devs are fixing the mags in the next update (so Rocket claimed). End of story. http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=9968

Devs merk something as problem ---> Fix problem Devs think something is cool ---> Leave it in so gameplay can advance. This is the thinking that caused the TF2 Spy to be a thing, or rocket jumping to exist. Bunny hopping has come and gone, but it was cool while it was a thing. This isn't rocket science.

How the hell do you think competitive gameplay progresses once everyone is on top of Mt. Everest? Sometimes, players turn to strategizing bugs in the game engine. It's sincerely one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. I'm not implying Dayz is a type of game this would work on, but I fully stand by this way of forward-thinking.

All this blood boil from facts I stated to the OP.
-
Video games are still not real life. You might need to check your virtues. Do you think killing in DayZ is wrong?
-
There is nothing on wall glitching yet. I don't think DayZ has gameplay guidelines yet, because I only remember agreeing to the BE EULA. If something is a problem, fix the problem. Don't bullshit the players. This is a common fallacy I hear in competitive games.
-
1. Bohemia would not agree to fix the mags if they did not think it was a problem. They think it is at this point, so what are you arguing about? 2. Go after the hackers, not the collateral damage. 3. A player should NEVER be punished in an unfair manner for another's misdeeds. It's as if you got VAC banned for going into a cracked lobby.
-
Literally your argument.

Time to strawman! Why would you smoke marijuana even though it's legal? It's very bad!

Anyways, I actually browse the bug trackers and the magazines have already been brought up many times. No need to bring up the bug tracker.
