From the network security perspective I couldn't disagree more. Update signing, system signatures, and admin level RAM monitoring (like VAC) you can definitely stamp out cheating. Game programmers and NSPs don't get along because there's just no crossover between the two disciplines. Game programmers do not write hardend code, use interpretive languages and do all other manner of questionable practices that create these problems. You could definitely harden it by re-writing the client, shoring up BE, and avoiding interpretative languages. Also force ASLR, and ban clients for using unsecured platforms like Windows XP that don't support ASLR (better yet, just ban 32bit systems altogether and force native 64bit). It's not impossible to secure, it's just more effort and completely different set of skills than actually producing a game.

No it ends up in an ephemeral slot "hand slot" saved hive side and on the floor server side. In other words it's a duping bug. I probably left hundreds of Mosins with LRSes lying around for bambis to find before I figured out the items were getting inadvertently duped. They really need to fix that one.

Dean Hall doesn't do PR very well. It is known. That being said a lead designer leaving doesn't impact a project much once it has reached Alpha state. They're more "vision" than "execution" and the vision portion of the game's development is long passed. I also agree with him that the game is fundamentally flawed. Look at the futile dispute over KoS and PVE only. Even players can't decide what sort of multiplayer game this is.

I have a few thoughts on this development. For starters, complete lack of surprise (besides Bohemia's no comment stance, that means things aren't as mutual as Rocket seems to portray). First off, Rocket is more a modder/game designer than programmer. They already have a near complete vision of the project (the mod). The project loses almost nothing switching lead designers at this stage. I think there may be some impact from him scraping talent, which is to be expected. From the HR perspective, everyone is expendable. High level people in particular. One would recall that the lead engineer for OculusVR was run over by hoodrats in a stolen car and that project didn't lose an inch. People are just expendable in corporate projects. VGs are no different. It did seem that Rocket's time at Bohemia was somewhat turbulent. There is the whole "finish what you start" thing riding against him but if he didn't want to be doing the project would suffer as result. It'll probably end up better off without him in the long run. Nothing about the guy personally either, that's just the nature of attrition.

Yeah, there's a lot of also rans on kickstarter. I'm surprised WarZ wasn't a KS game, seeing what an unfinished mess it was.

Yes, I agree the game should have EQ style logout instead of alt-F4 style logout. OP sure muddled the issue though.
