Guilt is what gets you killed, you did the right thing. If you are outnumbered like that it dosn make sense to let yourself get killed. The bambis who died, tryd to go full-gear with fists, dying is a risk there were willing to take in this encounter.

You only need your fists: last character i had, i planed to play him as a bandit, ran into policestation, found a guy with a clownmask and loads of gear, 2 punhes in the face, grabed the rifle, headshot-->full gear

Just yesterday i entered elektro as fresh-spawn, run into the police station, saw a bandit with a clown mask and mosin, knocked him out, took his gear ran into a treeline, saw another 2 players shot'em down -->full equip Sometimes its a little annoying to get the gear but in my opinion this is what makes the game more exciting cause one has something to lose. If you want to gear up quicker you need to study the map and the house-types/loot spawns this will save you alot of time. Btw: There are more people complaining about exactly the opposit- "its too easy to find stuff"

What the fuck guys, i dont get this shitstorm at all! Did you ever played other (online-)Computergames? I had WAAAAAAAAAAY worse experences with other games in case of server maintenances and patches. I remember server beeing down for couple of days, fucked up patches and so on (i refer on games like world of warcraft with way more money involved plus they werent in alpha stage no more). I really like how the development of this game is going, keep it up! And for those of you who want more information, i really get that, just be patience (Please forgive me any mistakes i may have made, im not a native english speaker :))
