What do you guys think? Find something like paper, rags, etc., and use your ferrocerium rod to start a fire. It should be one of the rare-to-find items but would be extremely useful and compact to carry.

I don't see why this SHOULDN'T be implemented, but isn't that what the burlap sack and paracord are for? But sure, why not? I'd like to see this too. You could then add the molle attachments to it. That'd be nice.

My luck, I'd end up with a wife and kids like these two: -

I agree that a MUCH larger map will be needed if they're going to implement aircraft of different sorts. However, they're currently still working on new towns for the current map. It'll be a while if they decide to expand, but we'll see. I like that you have the same ideas I do in your main four topics toward the bottom of your post. P.S. - Nice signature

I agree with what you're saying - Maybe not now, but in the future - that would be fine by me. The plus side to this gun over the Mosin would be its rate of fire. There are stories that a squad of guys carrying these guns would fire them at such a fast rate, they would actually drive the Germans back making them report that the enemy had MG's with them. The Mosin should, however, maintain the best accuracy in the game.

I was just about to recommend this rifle, but alas! - the search button worked! I would love to see this rifle in the game. The newer version (2A1) uses a 7.62x51 round, so you wouldn't have to implement another type of ammo for the rifle. P.S. - For those saying that it's unlikely that the rifle ended up in Russian territory... seriously? Refer to this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lee-Enfield As others have posted already, rifles travel across the globe at a rapid rate. These things were made my the British and in India. 17+ million rifles... they're in Russia too, guys.

I suspect a troll......

Why don't we just go ahead and have UAV's and Apache's and Cobra's with thermal vision too or at least their Russian counterparts?! After all, they're likely to exist during an apocalypse. Why wouldn't survivors have access to these things if every pilot left a chopper and/or parts for it lying around? Better yet, why not have satellite technology to zoom in on an area in the world map to see if a town is occupied. This would be at the military bases. Just because it's POSSIBLE that stuff would be in the game doesn't mean it SHOULD be. P.S.- Sorry for the sarcasm. I just feel very strongly about this subject and can really foresee it changing the game's purpose once aircrafts are implemented.

DayZ flight simulator

Might I recommend the iZurvive app? There's also a website for it. You can form a group for you and your buddy and whoever else wants to join, post your location, etc. It also helps you to figure out what your location is. HOWEVER, this takes away from the realism of the game of not knowing where you are for a while.

I agree with this ^. The game seemed to be solely based on survival and interactions with other people at the start. Now there's been talk of helicopters... I just don't see the use of helicopters in a map of this size. They would have to quadruple the size of the map to even begin to have it make sense. I'm fine with vehicles, but not choppers. I highly doubt the developers would agree with me, and, unfortunately, I foresee choppers of some sort in the game when it's released, but that's when I'll realize that I surely the miss these days of DayZ.
-
I agree. I think the entire map should be force-utilized in some way. "If you don't want fuel for your vehicle, fine - don't travel inland. Just don't expect to find any around here" kind of thing. Endless supply of fuel, though?... I don't think so. But I DO agree that they should design the game where people are nearly FORCED to move about. Personally, I enjoy hanging around my favorite town, but I will also admit that it can get pretty boring doing that.
-
I'd prefer for the choppers to all have a limit of 30 seconds of flight time... and then they blow up. If they have to have a mounted weapon, I hope it's a fish catapult and that you have to catch all of your fish before shooting them. These suggestions are coming from someone who doesn't want to see choppers in the game at all. So, ya' know.......

Nice collaboration of subjects in here. I hope the developers eye this one and that people vote.

I, personally, rather like the way the game is doing it. I don't think someone should know if they are safe to log out. My buddies and I watch each other log out to assure each others' safety. I know that loners playing the game are more at risk, but it would be the same in real life. If you were to lie down and go to sleep, you wouldn't feel very safe doing so, but that's the nature of an apocalypse. I will say, however, that your idea has thought put into it. It's apparent you actually put some thought into it rather than some ideas that come through the forums, but on this one, I'll have to disagree with you. I would also fear that people would use this to their advantage in logging out. (i.e. - "Am I safe now? Let me press log out to see. Yep. I'm safe. Okay, now on to the hospital.")
-
+1 This would be the best way to do it. Put a random can of sardines in there that is useful, but yet the ruined battery, and rotten orange are not.
-
I agree with this comment. I don't think pistols should be easier to find. Nor do I think magazines and bullets for them should be easy to find. I especially don't think they should be found together. Unless they make finding rifles and parts for them along with their ammo much rarer to find, pistols should also be rare. However, I agree that it's a little odd that you're more likely to find an SKS than a .45.

Imagine walking through the woods at night with your flash light or lamp (or maybe even torch) and stumbling upon this without having a gun:
-
I can seriously relate to this.

I think we all know the answer to that...

I wouldn't want to see traps like these in DayZ. Nothing annoys me more than trying to find a sniper only to have a claymore go off on me for trying to track him down (Battlefield 2 reference). I understand that you would want traps in DayZ to be more complex, but I still wouldn't want to see explosive traps. WITH THAT SAID... I WOULD like to see animal traps. Things such as snares for rabbits/squirrels, halo traps for deer, bear traps, and even tree-triggered rope traps for larger and more aggressive animals such as boars and wolves. These would seldomly catch anything (as they do in reality), but worth putting out if you're trying to feed a group.

lol Eat the beehive too? I would never hope a serious survival situation on anyone - you are no exception. But just in case, if you're ever in one, please stay away from bees for your sake. I'm really looking forward to hunting predators too. It'll give that rush of "Who's hunting who? Who's gonna' die?"
-
In a survival situation, would you not find a great location and stay put? I know that once the place ran out of food, you would want to move on, but right now harvesting your own meat and vegetables is not implemented as it would be available in real life.
