Tomato, I agree with you in that airstrips sometimes have far too much stuff in them. However, on the subject of a completely PvP mode, Alexei put it best. This game is NOT for that purpose. I'm really looking forward to the developers making it even more rewarding to scavenge for supplies (rare stuff in rarely checked areas, for example).

True. I'll settle for panda bears. ;)

I like the idea of the small, better camouflaged storage units. However, I don't like the idea of a context menu for tracking. Now, personally, I'm not talking about tracking a human. I'm talking about tracking an animal or group (flock, herd, etc.) of animals. If you don't see one in the distance right off, then the server would randomly place a set of tracks on the ground, along with other signs, for players to follow. The server would then recognize that the player is participating in the hunting process by following these signs, and, therefore, would place the appropriate animal(s) in the environment appropriate to those signs. This would allow the server to not require a large amount of randomly placed animals. After all, in reality, when someone is in the woods, forest, plains, mountains, etc., they don't see THAT much wildlife anyway (with the exception of a swamp :D )

Neither do zombies really exist...

I just highly doubt that even 20% of people who are interested in the realism of DayZ will have any interest whatsoever in a cover system.
-
I can understand your point. My suggestion for this is to not have the military bases be the absolute best place for certain gear. This could be randomized throughout the entire server. Just a suggestion, though.
-
I really like the idea of having some randomly generated aspects to the environment. "What's that? A compound? I wonder what's inside." "Where's that smoke coming from? Let's investigate it. Whoa! A helicopter crash site!" You're right. That WOULD encourage exploration almost ever time.

Like I said, unless you were a beekeeper with actual experience and the gear to do this, it is not recommended by survival experts. Don't misunderstand my post here. I'm not trying to start an arguement, but have you actually ever tried this? It's not easy to do, especially without the right gear. This kind of mentality gets people killed who are in a survival scenario. They think they can accomplish something along these lines and wish they hadn't after they realise the first two bees that found their way into their make-shift suit has stung them. After this happens, you have an entirely new emergency situation on hand. Never ever increase your potential risks when trying to survive. There's almost always a better option than dealing with something that can kill you.

I agree entirely with this post. It also goes the same way with canned food (as soon as they implement hunting, a better gathering system, and cooking). The really good items such as rifles, ammo, assault vests, canned food, bags of rice, canteens, etc. should be extremely rare, making the event of finding them an exciting accomplishment and not a routine procedure. This will make that person respect what they have on that much more important to them. Having a serious lack of bullets would also hopefully decrease the Kill on Sight mentality of most players as they would need them for fending off bears, zombies, mountain lions, bandits, etc. I believe this would also bring about a more common sense of "the kindness of strangers" mentality. There will always be adversaries of some sort. Therefore, don't think that this would force every person in the server to be friendly. I just know that making the highly desired items in the game even more rare to find would bring about a much more person-to-person environment rather than having everyone think hostility when seeing someone else on the street.

I'm all for islands, but I'm one of those who believe the use of vehicles is going to ruin this game. However, I wouldn't mind seeing a three-person rowable craft; a simple canoe for example could be used to get from shore to shore. It would have to be a very large lake in the North to see this feature, though.....
-
I don't know what kind of server everyone is playing on, but I just don't have that many intense firefights to see a use for this. But like I said before, it's not for DayZ.
-
I don't know how hard it would be to implement, but I'll just say this: "Mountain lions with their own special stalking/hunting system" You could see them stalk other animals for food, but most importantly... survivors.
-
Any survival expert would say that unless you're an actual bee keeper, the risk of messing with a hive EXCEEDINGLY outweighs the benefits. I, personally, don't see the point, but nice suggestion.
-
I'm not trying to be a butt here, but let's keep the cover system childish gameplay on console. It's not meant for DayZ.
-
Personally, this is why I think air vehicles would mean disaster for this game.

I agree with you in that a survivor should suffer some effects from being shot at or from zombie attacks - effects from the decline of adrenaline and the realization of what just happened. However, this shouldn't take place until several minutes after the event occurs. However, I must disagree that your player should have SUCH huge effects from the start. The idea of not being able to run long enough to get away from zombies might end up with a lot of bambi's being killed. With that said, I DO think zombies should play a MUCH more agressive role in the game. Players need to fear them. Right now they're not much more dangerous to an experienced player than a glitchy building.

Do you think bathing should be included? Bathing would be required every 24 hours of actual gameplay or so for improved/maintained health. You would have to do this in freshwater ponds/lakes, and you would be required to remove all clothes (except underwear) to do this. Can you imagine the banditry taking place during this action?

I just don't understand why there would be choppers around. If you look at the situation of hurricane Katrina, there were no aircraft around besides the 747's, 757's, etc. that were in decommission status. There weren't any choppers. These types of aircraft are not just left lying around. They're used to get out of dodge before the stuff really hits the fan. In the case that it really hits the fan all at one time with no warning, yes - there would be helicopters. But in the case of a virus outbreak, there likely wouldn't be a single helicopter in or even near the affected area. I also agree with what one person posted above. Though the map for DayZ is big, it's not big enough to implement choppers. Simple land vehicles, yes, but not air vehicles. Just last night, I ran from Elektro to the NE airfield in about 30 minutes while looking for food and stopping for water along the way. A bicycle or jeep would cut that in half or a third, and a helicopter would get you across the map in three minutes. It would make the world look MUCH, MUCH smaller. It's just my opinion that aircraft would ruin the game. If they ARE implemented, I'll get used to it, but I DEFINITELY agree that they should be VERY rare with missing parts and fuel required to find in order for it to be operable.

This is a GREAT idea, by the way, and I will look into the information of them already working on it. As for those who are saying it would be difficult to bring someone back with bullet holes in them, yes, it's true, but it IS done every day. To answer your questions: 1. CPR, in my opinion is a must, and for it to be as realistic as possible, I think they should stick to ACTUAL CPR standards (30 compressions/2 breaths per min) 2. The more accurate you are with your CPR, the better your chances of reviving someone, but I agree that those chances should calculate with how that person died 3. If that person who was revived was too badly wounded and/or not medically cared for in the appropriate way for that matter, then yes, they should be able to die from their original wounds/injuries 4. I think they should make this complex. The more people want to know about CPR and the more they want to work at it in-game, the more they'll know how to manage in real-life situations. This would also keep every single player out there knowing as much as the medic in their group One more thing I must add. The people that I have performed CPR on in my career and those I know who have had it done on them by others, do not always fair well for a WHILE after the event EVEN IF they live through it. In almost every instance, MULTIPLE ribs are broken, a pneumothorax occurs, and major bruising is also present. The victim (or patient) should suffer some serious side-effects and be extremely limited to activity for a while after having this done to them.

OH GOODNESS NO! I really don't want to see helicopters or any flying vehicle, period! The truth is, if the "apocolypse" were to happen, there wouldn't be a single flying vehicle around. It just doesn't fit in this game. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this game supposed to have a "you don't have much to survive on, but make it happen" kind of feel? Adding helicopters would basically just tell me, leave this area and find a civilian camp.
-
I agree that this type of gear should be available. I also agree that the civilian stuff would be a great addition. Overall, I guess I just can't wait until we have different weather extremes that forces the players to look for gear like this. A realistic weather pattern would be awesome (cold fronts, torrential downpours, heavy snowfall, freezing rain, and even damaging winds, etc. that forces players to take shelter).

Seeing signs of strange player activity at NWAF... (ATTEN. CCSD INVESTIGATORS)
KT_Cobra replied to crazykage's topic in General Discussion
I think it would be awesome if the developers programmed this in on purpose. Strange lights shooting down from the sky as though a helicopter was hovering above, strange noises in the woods at night, zombies all standing in a circle not moving, etc. -
Looks good to me. I think a small theme park (more like the size of a traveling fair) would be a great addition, but keep it small.

I REALLY like the idea of tracking animals, but it SHOULD NOT BE AUTOMATED as stated above, no offense. Keep in mind that this game should be kept as hardcore as possible. Keep the game the way it was meant to be - HARD on the survivor. Being able to do things in the game that you would do in real life to stay alive is awesome. What I'm trying to say is, the computer should not tell you ANYTHING about signs of animals. If you're roaming around hungry and are skilled (knowledgable) enough to notice those hog tracks down by your feet, you can then take advantage of the situation. Otherwise, you starve.

I don't have this problem with the SKS. I'm not sure what's going on on your side. You may want to reinstall the game. If you decide to reinstall, you shouldn't lose any of your stuff. I recently had to reinstall Steam AND DayZ, but I still had all of my stuff and my character.
