Who is going to feedback ?
Death By Crowbar replied to gordonfreemantr's topic in General Discussion
Everyone is so horny to see .60 it's like a stampeed. We've waited, what, 6 months? I was at work when it hit and I kid you not the streamer I happened to be watching literally shed a tear when we saw the new renderer doing it's thing. It benefits everyone to have .60 get quality testing and feedback so it can steamroll on to stable, but right now everyone is all on cloud 9 with a shiny new toy to play with. Personally I'm going to wait, I don't log in for long enough to give quality feedback and I'd rather not take up a slot for someone who will... so for now I'll catch it on streams. -
Make sure to uncheck passworded filter. Also, see what Hicks had to say about it: https://forums.dayz.com/topic/232979-a-few-thoughts-on-experimental-branch-server-availability/

Shooting people through doors, through sheds, etc is a legit tactic that would work in the real world as well. There's certain buildings notorious for people getting in the walls but you can simply just avoid those. Also, if you want to avoid some of the nonsense you were mentioning try private hives and hardcore (1PP) servers, those who would make trouble tend to avoid those.
-
Yes, I can confirm that you can. Absolutely. That alone beyond anything else makes this the best patch ever.

Without bad guys, there would be little room for good guys. Go get them, hero!
-
Me too. It would be more fun to trick people with or force feed than gasoline!

Remove your pants, it will allow the cholera to stream out more effectively. :P

It's a harsh world out there, gotta do what you gotta do to survive. Kill or be killed! Never assume you're alone... someone is always watching.

more loot / weapons on private hives
Death By Crowbar replied to Rauchsauger's topic in General Discussion
I'm pretty happy with how loot is under persistence now, it's going in the right direction. I've even had items respawn under me in a town that was being heavily looted so I've seen the respawn happening first hand. I do find better luck when I get off the coast though (and with less risk). If I feel like having a lot of coastal interaction I'll head inland to a town or two and then head back down coast side. -
Yeah, when you drag an item onto yourself rather than directly into the storage slot sometimes it'll just "find a home" where available, usually starting from the top of your inventory down. There are some bugs there where items can disappear and you have to play all sorts of games to make them reappear, from vaulting to opening/closing doors to messing with other items in inventory.

1) If you've been running your sway (and breath) will be far greater. When you stop and stand or lie still for a minute it will decrease and you'll have better aim. Above and beyond being cold, having a fractured/broken arm, etc that may be your problem. 2) We're in Early Access Alpha phase of the game, they've not really started optimizing it yet. If you notice, it's using a TON of CPU rather than offloading onto your GPU. A bigger graphics card doesn't necessarily mean better experience with DayZ in it's current form, but as they enter Beta and get closer to full release that will change as they start to optimize it.

Sounds of movement, near or far?
Death By Crowbar replied to Herkyl Puuro's topic in New Player Discussion
In the past (and may still exist albeit far less common) you'd hear noises like people eating, drinking, bandaging, or that "jingling change" sound it makes when you're adjusting ammo. Every so often I get one of those when there's noone around, but it used to happen all the time. The chain link fence jingle you can always ignore. The doors opening and closing (usually closing) can also be ambient and I usually ignore that. The squeaky door open is usually a player. Footsteps are also players, but sometimes an animal (cow, etc) can be walking nearby and give you a false positive on that. DayZ has a lot of ambient sounds that really add to the game, but in general the biggest to pay attention to for detecting players nearby are footsteps, eating/drinking/bandaging/ammo/gunclick, and squeaky door opening sounds. -
I think this plays a part in it, but the player population decline imo is more so attributed to these major factors: DayZ StandAlone had a lot of starting hype and press - but this is not an MMO like EQ, WoW, etc where people have guilds and spend hours raiding to get a single piece of awesome gear. Max and average player pop will likely be less than intuition might lead one to believe. A lot of "shiny object" other games have come (and some have gone). Between Rust, RoK, Ark, H1Z1, Arma 3 mods (Epoch, Exile), etc - the player base that would likely be in DayZ is distracted with other interesting projects in varying levels of completion. This opinion is strongly supported by what you've seen from the streamer community as well. Many players were dissatisfied with bugs that destroy hours of work in an instant and also earlier extensive pink flamingo problems related to people abusing and exploiting (many/most of which have been cleaned up). These people are waiting for a more mature iteration of the game, a Beta or even final release before they return and give it a shot again. Believe it or not there are people who listened to what Dean said last year when the question was asked, "Should I buy/play it yet?"

I discovered DayZ from a few hilarious articles on Kotaku about not being able to find can openers (over a year ago back when that was the only thing that could open cans and there was no food to forage yet) or about taking two guys hostage and then making them fight each other to the death to see who's worthy of living. The entire concept seemed hilarious so I decided to give it a shot.

Speaking of items that seem scarce - anyone seen lock picks or bear traps lately?

Weren't you or Tatanko the one who I saw pics of fishing in that one pond with a car wreck in it? Hydrocarbon and mercury flavored fish are delicious... or so I hear. :)

Pink hiking jackets?

I liked NEAF, it would be nice to see them do something appropriate for what it is. It's near a few big cities, it could arguably be made into more of a civilian airport with loot to match, and maybe a hangar or two military style (like you often find at airports). To be honest I don't even do Krasno anymore even, and that's a decent town loot wise.

With the way everyone turns down their graphics settings imo you're more likely to stick out like a sore thumb and be seen if you're in a ghillie.
-
Every time this happens to me, I simply try logging in again and everything is fine. When this says your character has been "reset" I don't think it means wiped, or at least the 5 or 6 times I've run into it it's not resulted in that.

Did I do something wrong? Sniping in the Airfield

Did I do something wrong? Sniping in the Airfield
Death By Crowbar replied to FrigginTommyNoble's topic in General Discussion
I like FrigginTommyNoble's view on the game here. He's not a KOS, and judging by the timidness and downer after slaying the dude he fully gets the impact of death and the setback it causes the victim. That's good - that means you're not a desensitized douchebag and you play and view the game in a similar manner to myself. Don't lose that! In the end, NWAF is a deadly place, if you hadn't killed him I'd wager there was a 95% chance he'd try to kill you if he saw you. You didn't do anything wrong here. Keep that survivor mentality, remember the cost of life in each interaction, it's a good thing. Beans. :beans: :beans: :beans: -
How exactly can i get an m4 without killing someone?
Death By Crowbar replied to Kiwiyellow5's topic in General Discussion
You can kill someone with nearly anything, and a lot of folks who are trophy hunters running around wasting time looking for M4's can be terrible shots and shake like crazy during a fight because they don't want to lose their precious M4. It makes them easier prey than you'd imagine. You're better off getting a hunting scope and putting it on something and then go hunting people with M4's than running around the heli crashes. -
What I think needs to be said about the new renderer.
Death By Crowbar replied to WilliamTheConqueror's topic in General Discussion
That and the names of the files and the entire architecture can change. The current house may have a living room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, and garage. The updated house (renderer) may have an open concept single room for the kitchen and living space, a full bath and a half bath, a master bedroom, and guest bedroom, and a car port. Or said another way, what's there now and what will be there when they've refactored it may be entirely different in form and function.
