If you didn't get out of the truck in time (or were still in it) you'll spawn back where you entered the truck. It's a known issue, and sounds like what you ran into. For now although it's a pain it's advisable to get out of the truck every so often, because if you've driven pretty far and the server reboots you'll going to respawn way back wherever you started your drive, which is a giant pain.

I have got to be the unluckiest player in DayZ

Public servers are like deathmatch playgrounds... for the most part. You've gotta be EXTREMELY careful, and heading to the smaller towns inland is your only hope for peace, as most of the war is waged on the coast (as you know). You might be better looking for a private server that keeps a good population. It's difficult as a survivor because you, like myself, would like good interaction with other survivors with a risk of being double crossed or murdered, that's ok. I struggle at times the same way you do - when everyone's end goal is to kill anyone they see it's not as fun and immersive as it could be, it makes the game a bit shallow. Your luck will turn around, I had a 3 month stretch where I was going through the same thing as you, that followed up with a month of all lucky good encounters. It's hit or miss, thus the life of a survivor. Hang in there... and watch your back. -
Multi-Person Mechanics to discourage KOS
Death By Crowbar replied to FlimFlamm's topic in General Discussion
How about: Requiring 2 people to drag a corpse, passed out, or restrained personWith 2 people you can vault walls (one person steps on the other's shoulders or something) - this would be sweet for surprise attacks2 people could push a broken down vehicle (would need a 3rd to steer)The presence of 2 people might intimidate a single infected zed - if you're in groups of 2 or more single zeds might be less aggressive (a safety in numbers trick!)Aggressive wildlife (I know there's no bears and stuff now, but if there was...) same concept as above, having greater numbers would help keep them awayThe new broken leg animations and slower gimp/walk - with the help of another survivor you could/should be able to get back up towards top run speed. You could help your friend get up and get away (or get to help).- 141 replies

Yo - so something else I never knew about before was how you can walk up to a chicken coop and "Search for feathers" from it. I never knew about this. Whenever I felt inspired to improvise a bow and arrows I'd search high and low for actual chickens to kill. Knowing I can find feathers this way makes the improvised bow a much more viable starter weapon until I can pair up a decent gun with available ammo. In fact I did that with my first character post .57, since in the first town I tried (Dolina) I'd found rope, an ax, the feathers, and a knife - all I needed was to find an Ashenwood tree. At least I was able to quickly get something I could shoot with at range right away while I continue my search for a gun (with ammo) that I'm comfortable with. Funny enough in a single house up there I found a Trumpet, Carbine, Repeater, Sporter, and Mosin. The only ammo I'd found was 380 auto. So I sawed off the Mosin and put it in my bag and kept the bow on my back to keep my hands free. People really can benefit from reading this, there's a lot of subtle things that if you have the knowledge can make a sizable difference... so long as you're not an Elektro bambi zerg player.

Is that really what you keep in your pocket? What do you keep a string for? -
I'll bet if you also wrapped it in tactical bacon before cooking it would be more oily and even more incredible...

Why do we spawn at all? Isn't that the great question? Personally what I've always got in my pocket is a set of keys and my wallet. Not sure what uses keys would have, maybe opening cans or something, but... a light stick and a rag is not so bad, I totally support giving a light source because spawning at night without one would be weird, and the rag is great because it means you don't have to immediately rip your shirt off when Chernarus starts kicking your ass. -

I prefer this vs Rust where you just spawn with a giant shlong. -

One of the first things I usually do is throw my flashlight at the first person I see. Looks like it'll be a glow stick from now on... -

Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
Death By Crowbar replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
I know they're still a work in progress but it's frustrating when you dodge them and they're swinging at a bush behind you yet still manage to land punches on you. I know part of that is desync and part of it is the new wonky animations. I tolerate it because they're still not really much of a threat and also I know it's going to be changed at some point. Also if you're in a town running through a few houses or apartments and closing a few doors is a simple way to escape them... also shutting a door to lock them in a house or something is easy and fun for the next person who tries to enter! -
If they did the game would already have pooping just like Ark... ... and hilarity would ensue!
-
I would like to express my appreciation... ... plz drop all the ammo and food you have and run the other direction! :beans: :beans: :beans: But seriously - DayZ is a blast even though still a work in progress. It's fun to have bits of progress and new content to look forward to each week.

Me love you long time. :beans: :beans: :beans: I've not skinned and eaten anyone lately, but you have some body parts in your pic that I honestly didn't even realize were in game. That is... hilarious. I'm going to log in now and gut someone to see what I can find! Kudos as always, Tatanko!
-
You shouldn't keep such valuable information from fellow survivors. You have to eat what you have to eat to live! It's a valid part of the survival toolkit!
-
Tatanko you are so good with general game info, you should make another guide something to the effect of, "How to terrorize fellow survivors: Tatanko's guide to banditry and Chernarus shenanigans". You could include everything from: how to poison people make people sick with injections of the wrong blood type various ways to tie people up how best to trap people strategies for land mine and bear trap placement how to properly hold someone up and/or take them hostage how to leave poisoned food/drink for other survivors to find the art of the double cross fun uses for weapon concealment the wonders of force feeding victims human meat from the bodies of their comrads leading the zombie horde to a fresh meal fun with fire places, how to burn people alive the ashenwood stick, why longer is better highway fishing tactics, choosing the right bait for the right bambi the knockout game

How many resources are being used on improving third person?

You had me laughing thinking of a twist of an old joke, "What do you call a developer with no arms and no legs in the middle of the ocean?" ... Bob. -

Death By Crowbar replied to Connect3d's topic in General Discussion
I doubt much... there's a lot of discussion on it but the developer time to change the camera angle to over shoulder and play with some other things I'd imagine would be minimal. -
Well, didn't the first iteration of the new renderer go in roughly during that time frame? It was supposed to update animal animations an AI? Maybe it didn't land yet but it was talked about a lot over the last 4 months. Anyway, there's a bunch of info about the new renderer and that's supposedly going to change a lot in regards to how the game looks and performs: http://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/comments/2x009v/dayzs_new_renderer_and_the_enfusion_engine_info/
