[Discovery] Trapped In Experimental
Death By Crowbar replied to Weyland Yutani (DayZ)'s topic in Gallery
I liked it! -
You shouldn't help a guy just to steal from him. It would have been more humane to simply shoot him rather than leave him naked, at least then he'd have a t-shirt for rags and wouldn't be bothing with a stupid crossbow. If you're going to help someone, help them. Helping them robbing is kinda like double crossing, or kinda like taking a girl on a date and paying for dinner yet getting nothing in return. Or kinda like this weekend's GoT episode where the Viper pwned the Mountain getting our hopes up only to get lost in revenge blindness leaving an opening that caused him to have his skull exploded in the Mountain's massive hands.

You should search "DayZ Standalone" and it comes right up. Also - go to http://forums.dayzgame.com/ and bypass the age entry thing. I never hit the main site, I always just got to the forums.

Kudos! This game format can be fun/silly without being PVP only, being PVP only greatly limits it's potential and people who think that way are missing out. Albeit with no KOS people the game wouldn't be any where near as interesting either... but I digress. Before all of the spawns were moved up north I stood for a few hours on the bend north of Kamyshovo (the town just before Elektro) greeting fresh spawns running along the road and handing out can openers, screw drivers, and food. It was actually pretty fun and hilarious... I even had a dude sneak up on my crawling with broken legs and fulfilled his request for a kill so he could respawn (he had been crawling for an hour or two he claimed, and I'm sure he wasn't lying based upon where I was). This was all great until someone sniped me, I never even saw them... but it was a fun day.

WELL..That sucked mr compass
Death By Crowbar replied to darkspecialistE4's topic in New Player Discussion
I'm going to raise a beer to all the lost fire arms attributed to compass, binocular, food/drink, etc use. -
What do you do when you're under siege?
Death By Crowbar replied to amiasfree's topic in General Discussion
I might try diplomacy, or ask that they simply back down and leave. If I have my mic working and wifey and kids aren't around so I can really talk I might test the waters with submitting and being taken hostage. Maybe. Depends on my mood and how well geared I am at the time... but hostage situations can be very amusing. If that doesn't work I'll wait in the safest part of whatever area I'm trapped where I can maybe observe them and have time to react should they advance. If I get bored of that I'll mess with them and try to get them distracted so they slip up and give me an opening. If all else fails like any caged rat I'm going to come at you like a spider monkey! I don't want to go out without putting up a fight. -
Zombies are too hard (defending my opinion)
Death By Crowbar replied to JosephHabib's topic in General Discussion
So, a few thoughts: Zombies as they're implemented now are a threat to noone. And I mean absolutely noone. If you die from a zombie now you're drunk or don't have a keyboard that works. Here's why: If you strafe or run in circles it is impossible for a zombie to hit you. Period. You can avoid infinite zombies indefinitely, they simply cannot hit you. If you combine #1 above but do it while strafing so you're facing them the hole time you can fight them indefinitely without dying. You can kill them with any weapon in the game quite easily this way. Sometimes I bare hand box them on purpose for fun - it might take 3 times knocking them down before you can kill them but it's not hard. If you're running and a fast zombie is on your tail, you can zig zag, which done at the right interval makes it impossible for a zombie to hit you, at all. It's the same concept as #1 above. If you combine running up hills with #3 above, you can have any number of zombies chase you up a hill, then you simply run down and 9 times out of 10 they fall to their deaths. If they don't fall to their death, find a steeper hill or just try again. Most zombies I kill I don't even need to break out a weapon to dispatch. In summary - if anyone thinks zombies as they stand now are difficult, you should understand that you're lacking some major skills and understanding on how zombies work and how this game or any FPS for that matter should be played. I've watched fresh spawns get attacked by zombies and then try to "toe to toe" stand there and box them - anyone who does that will lose every time, but anyone who does that must realize that's like attempting to play tetris without rotating the pieces... you've effectively handicapped yourself and you will lose. If you try to fight zombie this way you'll also typically lose when fighting players as well. I found this in the gallery which may help anyone who thinks zombies are hard: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/197779-how-to-kill-zombies-without-getting-hit-for-newbies/ In conclusion - with the way zombies are currently implemented, if one kills you, it's (for lack of a nicer way to say it) really really really pathetic. It's next to impossible for zombies to hit you at all, and you can kill them without even hitting them! When the zombies are re-worked I hope all of that is fixed, because as it stands now they're about as dangerous as rabbits. -
!WALLBUGGING IDIOTS! glad it will get fixed on patch
Death By Crowbar replied to norreka's topic in Gallery
Yes - noone came out of any walls. At the start the guy was against the wall - and due to a clipping bug appeared to be partially in the wall, but staying against the wall isn't hacking, bugging, etc. Also at the end nooone was in any wall, there was a guy standing in the back hallway and another guy using 3rd person smartly to see him while still standing on the stairs - that's just how 3rd person works, the guy at the top of the stairs should have known that's a place where he can easily be seen and shouldn't have used that as the place to defend himself. -
Guns- Which ones do you prefer and why?
Death By Crowbar replied to JosephHabib's topic in General Discussion
Any gun that's loaded I'm usually happy with. But a mosin with a long range scope is hella fun! -
I spent a few days hanging around Elektro, Kamyshovo(sp?), and Balota areas and saw maybe 2-3 people total in about a week down there on high pop servers. It's a shame, because those are fun areas many people are familiar with. I don't even like the layout of Berezino or that town in the woods further up the coast. It also hurts that I haven't died in a while... *knock on wood*
-
In defense of the dude the OP was trying to save - that's 4 corpses worth of loot, a treasure chest that doesn't come along often. Nothing ventured nothing gained! But it was a dick move...
-
(Sunrise happens) You have found wood. (A fire is created nearby) Smokey says only you can prevent forest fires. (Running through woods) Watch out for ticks! (Enter grocery store) Shoplifters will be violated. (50+ hours played without dying) You feel lonely and desire human interaction, a friend waits for you behind a blue door in Berezino, go find them!

Another first - did I just witness a zed kill itself?
Death By Crowbar posted a topic in General Discussion
I've been noticing some different pathing and behavior of zeds. I swear to all that's holy tonight I was fighting one, killed it, then one of the chick zeds came pathing in a giant square around me and appeared to run into a house and then fall down dead. Can that really happen? I swear to all holy I never touched the bish, she I had nothing to do with it! -
Southern portion of map seem sparse these days?
Death By Crowbar posted a topic in General Discussion
Ever since the spawn changes the southern portion of the map seems "sparse" from a player standpoint to me. Anyone else notice this? On 30+ player servers I can run around Elektro and a few other places down there and quite often see noone (the airfield is another story though). -
!WALLBUGGING IDIOTS! glad it will get fixed on patch
Death By Crowbar replied to norreka's topic in Gallery
Oh - abusing 3rd person, I can sorta see that, especially the stairs part at the end. While not playing in hardcore servers you've got to take that into consideration... -

I must have missed the wall bugging? -
WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO THAT COOKWARE???

Sometimes cannot eat/drink
Death By Crowbar replied to Robert Neville's topic in New Player Discussion
Definitely have not had that happen before! But from the bug logs it looks like someone reported something similar a while back. You should check this and comment on it: http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=7236 -
Ammo is a problem especially because of dupers. Until dupers are stopped imo ammo should spawn everywhere to even the odds for those who'd rather not cheat.
-
Got a herd of zeds following you? Zig zag like you're avoiding an alligator attack, and then find the nearest steep hill to have them sled down to their deaths. Unfortunately as it stands now zeds are no threat to anyone anymore than hunger or thirst.
-
That's a lot of questions. It depends on the server you're on. If you're on a high pop server that doesn't restart often things will be very scarce unless you head far inland. If you're on a low pop server or a server that restarts every hour or so you're going to find plenty of stuff and one could argue that it's too easy. I mean, for water - I carry a bottle or canteen with me and fill it in lakes, rivers, and with rain water so drink is easy when you've got one of those. Hunting and fishing will make food easier to come by in lower risk locations, but there's a time sink element to that (as well as an antisocial element). In the end it mostly depends on what server you're on. Also loot tables and locations seem to be updated every so often so these things change a lot.

Sometimes cannot eat/drink
Death By Crowbar replied to Robert Neville's topic in New Player Discussion
I notice that right clicking to get the Eat or Eat All is often laggy, and sometimes all I get is Inspect (and sometimes I right click and nothing happens at all). It always (for me) finally comes back allowing me to properly right click and get Eat or Eat All after maybe 5 seconds. I especially get only Inspect and no other options if I accidentally still have something in my hands. I'm sure you're not crazy and something strange is going on, but next time you're online try again and double check there's nothing in your hands and wait until whatever you're eating has fully left your hands - and wait a few seconds between tries, it's wonky. If you still have an issue with it search the bug tracker, maybe it's a known issue - or maybe it's a new issue you should report! -
I like knowing *something* about who's online with me, such as if there's clans, how many people, their pings (if there's high ping people I get weary of warpers, etc and may switch servers - I know BattleEye takes care of some of this but not enough).
-
It's a known bug, and as MaxRain said. It's been known and around for as long as I can remember, and it's wildly abused. If you search the bug forums you'll see it reported every few days but they typically go from public to private because it's one of the worst exploits in the game right now. How do you think some snipers / teams seem to have endless ammo? This is exactly how, and it wildly unbalances the game, taking it from a straight survivor experience to a straight PVP experience (I mean, what else do you do with essentially endless ammo?). Its also how some teams re-gear up, which is entirely pathetic, once this is fixed you won't see as many roving bands of dudes outfitted head to toe in all the best matching gear.

well thats DAYZ 4 u Sir !
Death By Crowbar replied to Munson_fry (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Does morphine not permanently fix a broken leg? If not I suppose that makes sense - I've only ever had a chance to use the stick method. You crawled around that long and couldn't find someone to help (fix leg or shoot you) or a zed to kill you? That's impressive.
