    Just a question?

Freshies / bambis can be some of the most dangerous people in the game... it's a toss up, do you leave them alone because they're not geared? Or do you eliminate the threat because they may randomly run up to you and try to knock you out hoping for a quick gear up? I usually leave them alone, but there've been plenty of times that was the wrong choice.

    Where is everyone?

They go to Elektro, get killed, run back, get killed, get killed in Kamyshovo, etc. Since Berezino was redone that's dangerous but I don't see as many people there.

These new bugs are the real game breakers!

I had this happen and I assumed it was a hacker because someone was following me when I noticed it. There was a lot of content update with.57, but I don't think anyone can argue that game mechanics were sacrificed to get that out. We can only hope those broken mechanics (unable to arm weapons, lack of zeds, zeds can't enter certain buildings anymore, statuses are all botched often until you relog - such as hunger, thirst, healing, etc, and persistence is non-existent) get priority in the next patch, because I agree, if you look at it that way and forget the content updates then .57 could be argued as a step backwards. Alas though, I think that's all a part of the alpha development process which we all agree to (thus it's a nuisance but OK). Whack a mole happens, and .57 bubbled up more moles to whack than .56 did. My suspicion is that this isn't unknown or a secret, I have to imagine that they know all of this combined is a problem and a priority in the next few updates to reign back under control again.

I'm going to make like a tree and leave.

Over 10 weapons disappeared on the same character

Oh - one more thing - another change with .57 - previously if you had a weapon in a bag, say a pistol or a sawed off shotgun/mosin, it would reserve the space for that weapon in your bag. Now it doesn't. If you arm yourself with that weapon and then loot some beans which take up some/all of the space that weapon needs in your inventory and then you put that weapon away you will drop it instead of putting it away. That's another big change that's not intuitive because of how it used to be done.

Over 10 weapons disappeared on the same character

There was a bug where if you were holding the gun in your hands and you vaulted over a fence or something you would drop your weapon (and have to go back and pick it up). That was in the base .57 build I think, I don't know if it's still around or not. Could that be what it is?

    Long Range Scope?

Not with an LRS or hunting scope caliber optic it's not... no more 1000 yard hail Mary's or Anthony Kongphan style berserk mode with the mosin.

    Zombies clipping through walls?

I've not seen them clip through walls but doors seem to hold them maybe only 85% of the time for me. Did it seem they came through a door you'd shut?

    Prison island spawning

You can't drown yourself anymore? I missed that! When did that happen? That's good and bad I guess...

    Prison island spawning

I think it will be fun. I'm sure there's a lot of people who will be looking forward to it because it's a spawn that's easy to suicide at so you can get a better spawn closer to your friends or Elektro... which is rather lame in my opinion.

    Fireballs!

This is one topic where my mind wanders away from reality and into the realm of thinking - It looks cool, I'm not so concerned if it's slightly unrealistic, it's certainly more realistic than the LED gun BeefBacon posted (which is obviously sarcasm), I like the look. Personally I wouldn't mind if it stayed as is. We want things to be as authentic as possible, but this is a game afterall and there's so many things that are not real and not even possible IRL (like zombies) that small things that heighten the experience and go beyond realism can be good for the game.

When will the Zombie count be up?

There were more zombies before the .57 build, which landed about 2 weeks ago now. It's still in early access alpha and in flux. They just had to pull back the persistence loot option so now all loot repopulates after each server restart, and so do the zombies. There's a lot less of them, and since they're not respawning as of .57 build it's going to seem like a lot, lot less of them are around. I've not kept up on the dev notes on what's coming or what the plans for addressing that are, but I believe it was intentional and that they have every intention to raise the zombie count up, get the zombie hoard mechanic working, get the zombie mechanics and diversity working, etc. I mean, we only got crawling zombies when their legs broke 2 weeks ago with .57. This is not a finished game at all, it's still in alpha and things can change majorly weekly as they implement something new, tweak something else, or revert back to another build/methodology as they work through issues.

    No Pants Spawning.. Anywhere?

It is. Persistence was removed with the latest patch .57, they're working on the loot economy and it's got a lot of known issues. Don't worry, pants are spawning, you might have to run around a little or try another server where the distribution is less botched to find them (I'm not recommending server hopping, but if you're on a server that seems funny then try another).

    On servers...

Found it after more searching - give this a look, it might help your cause: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/194560-know-your-server-session-history/

    On servers...

A few months back it was announced that there was going to be an in game reporting method that was supposed to simplify things. I've not kept up on where that is, because I was interested in it too from the half dozen or so bad experiences I had with public servers where admins would boot anyone who joined to keep the loot for themselves or so they didn't have to play with strangers... or whatever the reason. Also - I tried searching but I couldn't find it again - someone had posted a script that you kick up and run which keeps track of what server you last played on, so if something bad happens it's right there at your finger tips, the IP address and everything. I had made an update to that having the script create a log file and thought I had posted that back on the forums. I still run that script in the background every time I play, it keeps a record of what servers I logged into and when. I can message you a copy if you want, it's really helpful - especially in those times when you're playing with someone and get kicked or lose connection but can't remember what server it was!

    Lack of zombies?

With the .57 update which landed a week or so ago zombies became pretty rare - a lot less of them spawn, and they don't respawn until the server is restarts. This is temporary, a work in progress.

    Hunting Reference Guide for 0.57

I've always wondered how the AI would react if several people surround them. Would they stay in place? Run in circles (like they did hilariously after that one patch)?

    I can't join?!

Looks like you're trying to figure out an Arma II issue, these are the DayZ StandAlone forums. Also, is your version legit paid for and downloaded from steam? What I'm looking at would indicate no.

    Tents are despawning .. Why?

With .57 while they're working on the loot economy mechanics persistence is off. Don't bother creating camps and stashing stuff for now - you will lose it all along with the hours you spent hoarding.

    CR527 + Hunting Scope - Worth It?

Hey, if you've got ammo for it... it's better than anything else you don't have or don't have ammo for. Unless you're going to shlep around on 0 pop servers looking for something better you're risking losing it, so might as well use it. Get em while they're hot!

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times...

We're in times of plenty right now - like I mentioned in other posts, my recommendation is to hit up the new guard buildings and practice up on your weapons. Because of the persistence off and loot a plenty after server reboots now people basically owe it to themselves to try as many different guns as they can because they're so plentiful.

You left out cannibalism again Tatanko!  :beans: Hunting Humans Humans can be found throughout Chernarus, but due to their highly aggressive nature and actual smarts (not AI) they can be dangerous and sometimes difficult to kill. Also eating their meat may make you go crazy and render your character crying like someone who just died on the firestation stairs! This can give away your position and get you killed and it's also annoying, so best avoid eating raw human steaks. It is said that human meat tastes better after being tortured. Kinda like how foie gras works, you can force feed your prey all manner of things until they throw up, then you can put a burlap sack over their head and beat them with a blunt weapon until they die. This tenderizes the meat and ensures a quality steak as a result. Humans can also be trapped with bear traps and land mines. Those traps are best placed in high traffic areas, such as police stations, ATC towers, the new guard buildings, and even in the middle of costal roads - bambis in search of suicide may rejoice in the opportunity to quickly die on a landmine providing you with a quick source of gear and nourishment.
