PLEASE make the pig safe is unicorn of dayz
Death By Crowbar replied to Shrub Rocketeer ™'s topic in General Discussion
Just wait until helicopters enter the game... your wild pig problem will be solved! In the USA they're highly problematic in some areas and with no natural predators apparently it's legal and acceptable to "cull the herd" so to speak, often from helicopter. -
I really dont get the point of bambi killing.
Death By Crowbar replied to Acher0n's topic in General Discussion
Case in point - I approached a bambi just now because I had extra gear and was feeling generous. He was a decoy, I got blown away by a friend with a mosin. Kill bambis. Kill them all. >:( -

Death By Crowbar replied to Acher0n's topic in General Discussion
If I kill a bambi, it's only because they didn't avoid me. I cannot tell you how many bambis have simply run right up to me attempting to knock me out and gear up quickly. If a bambi comes remotely close to me I'm on alert, if they get within a stones throw without waving or giving any sign of being friendly I'm going to put them down quickly. I can't remember the exact date but one night it was literally like every bambi was on a mission to zerg the nearest geared player. I literally had about a dozen bambis over the course of maybe 2 hours literally bum rush me fists up trying to knock me out. What a waste of ammo, I think my ax went from worn to badly damaged during that episode. That's when I learned to be careful of bambis. -
Well, that was annoying and stupid...

Server performance boost, rocket tweets
Death By Crowbar replied to hiniberus's topic in General Discussion
Hopefully it means that when I hit 1 to arm my rifle it does it without me having to drag it out of inventory. Hopefully it means that when I hit v I actually jump... so I don't have to spam v. Hopefully it means in general you don't have to wait on actions. After all, aren't they directly related to server performance? -
I feel like if DayZ SA were real life it would look something like this... a lot of yelling, posturing, maybe a gunless guy doing something crazy, some guys with guns shooting but game mechanics causing them to keep missing, followed by a brief chase. Pretty standard DayZ SA. No? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7XfdKyWg818

Beware of eating poc cornz while watching TV (beware of Eat All option)
Death By Crowbar posted a topic in General Discussion
Well sort of. I'm using an analogy here. It's happened to me twice and I'm going to log a ticket on it, but when you're watching TV you like to eat, right? Well when I'm observing a town from afar with binoculars I use that time to make sure I'm hydrated and energized. Well, cutting to the chase - if you're doing an "EAT ALL" on something like say a zucchini (something with multiple portions) and the second the action is finished enough to put something in your hands you pull up the binoculars again immediately, all will seem well. That is, until maybe 5-10 seconds later when you get that final "You have finished eating all the zucchini" then BAM - your binoculars will disappear from your inventory as if you'd eaten IT instead. I suppose the only good news is you'll still have that zucchini so you can eat it one more time. Beware of putting things in your hands too quickly after doing an "Eat All". You're welcome. -

Reported: http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=14332 I ran into the infamous "APPLICATION ERROR #1303" invalid product version as well. Early Access Alpha means even the bug tracker has bugs. :D -

It had been weeks since I'd even found a set of binoculars too. I know, don't get attached to your gear... -
I find it sad that NEAF is still getting camped
Death By Crowbar replied to TheWizard14's topic in General Discussion
Well, true, because the rest of the content that makes it NOT like that is still in progress. -
You should be able to craft a tactical bacon suit of armor from it.

I find it sad that NEAF is still getting camped
Death By Crowbar replied to TheWizard14's topic in General Discussion
There's nothing wrong with it - but there are some who camp Berezino and NEAF as if it's the only things in the game to do. OP and myself are pointing out that's laughable and gimp, or better said some believe Berezino/NEAF is where all the pros go where instead I'd argue it's where the newbs and bambis run first (which is bewildering seeing as how they're picked clean and camped), making those who camp there only looking for sport kill that's not very sporting and closer to CoD rather than DayZ. That's the point, it's the simple/close/easy route. -
Tactical Bacon is a real thing.

I use a side arm when I don't want anyone to know I'm armed. The element of surprise is there unlike when you've got a long gun on your back.

Things I've learned in DayZ SA: Never assume you're alone. Trust nooone. Don't drink disinfectant spray. Zombies aren't your friend. Zombies must have the most boring life because they essentially stand in one spot forever, and if they do wander it's not very far. Live life to the fullest - you may die at any moment, you are in control of nothing. Your legs may also randomly break... perhaps it's from the crushing pressure of suspense and anxiety that someone is watching! Deforestation is a major problem in DayZ just as it is in the real world, but when tree huggers bring it up those in charge barely listen. Like in real life, I still don't know what use there is for a worn banana, nor how such banana got worn in the first place! The proper way to carry a flashlight is to hold it up as if you're aiming a handgun. I do this at home all the time now, and I walk very slowly while doing it. If you want peace and quiet, the last place you should go is somewhere up high such as on top of a water tower or something where somehow magically sound carries amazingly well so you can hear everyone eating, drinking, and messing with ammo. After observing and researching, I've determined that zombies may suffer from a combination of tourettes syndrome and osteoporosis, which explains why they twitch and make random noises but also die very easily while falling down hills. Knowing this perhaps we may be on the path to treating them, suppressing their urges and stopping the apocalypse? Worn or badly damaged zucchini, never pick it up. You don't know where that thing has been. If I open a can of <whatever> with an inefficient tool such as a screw driver or hack saw, the portion that falls to the ground must vaporize instantly because I cannot find it anywhere to lick up when starving. Science is still looking for an explanation for this phenomena. Log rolling is faster and quieter than crawling in a straight line. I use this in real life when I'm super intoxicated and attempting to sneak into back bed without the wife knowing.

Death By Crowbar replied to TheWizard14's topic in General Discussion
I sorta agree with OP. Loitering around NEAF is the same as loitering around Berezino. It's the closest easiest thing, the home of gimps and CoD fans, not where you'll find true apocalypse survivors. On any server with any population those are already picked over anyway, the only reason to go to either of those places is for PVP... and when I want PVP that's where I go. When I want to explore or get more interesting/meaningful interactions (when I'm not in my skiddish or prankster lone wolf mode) I head south along the coast or inland south of the airfields. Remember - this is "DayZ", and not the following: CoDLoad up on military gearLRS scavenger huntM4 cuz I pray and spray -
This sounds really really tough. If you give it a shot and can edit a documentary of it I'd watch, seems like it could be amusing enough. I don't think I'd have the motivation to try it though... even on a high pop server you should have success in avoiding human contact if you go to the right places.

Best places for loot? New to DayZ
Death By Crowbar replied to AdamSASR's topic in New Player Discussion
Learn the types of buildings that have loot. Google and review what the following look like and where they are. Randomly running into every building you see is not only a crap shoot (most buildings have nothing but rotten fruit or hats) and not the quickest way to gear up. Learn to zero in on the reliable locations, the ones that nearly always have loot, which are: Police Stations (usually guns and ammo) Fire Stations (guns, ammo, and fire ax spawn location!) Police car trunks (usually ammo) Corner buildings in city blocks where guns almost always spawn on 2nd floor in the bedroom Grocery Stores or Markets The house with a grand piano (usually weapons or guns there) Airfield and military locations -
when is coming the note to stay?
Death By Crowbar replied to Shrub Rocketeer ™'s topic in General Discussion
I know I can't write that much in a second language and do so in a manner which everyone can make sense out of it. Assuming his second language is something else (such as Russian) kudos on the effort. I too carry silly notes on myself hoping that if I'm killed someone might find it and laugh. -
It's a bug. It could benefit from votes in the bug tracker so it gets priority! Happened to me twice over the past 2 nights. Every time you go up stairs, especially in fire stations, know that there's a risk your legs will randomly break and/or you'll randomly die with no warning. You did nothing wrong, this is one of those early access alpha things to know about - log/vote the issue and to be safe avoid buildings with known stairs that cause it. The aircraft control towers and fire stations seem especially vulnerable, possibly due to the steepness of their stairs. As a safety precaution you can go up the ladder in both of those buildings to either get the loot directly or see if there's any loot worth the risk of using the stairs.

I'm a lone wolf 99% of the time. The few times I've met friendlies have been great, but often (maybe 80% of the time) I can't play with a mic and it's very VERY hard to make friends without one. Thus like OP, I wander the lonely road but I try to keep it interesting. Here's some of the ways I've found to terrorize Chernarus. I'll chop down random trees across the road. I'll leave random stuff in the road. I like to do this with books a lot. Sometimes I'll make a random pile of books where they make no sense to be. I'll open doors of every building in a town and not loot a thing (making it look as if it had been picked clean). I'll loot entire towns and leave everything in the middle of the most main looking street in one giant pile. I'll leave interesting notes lying around with anything from knock knock jokes to song lyrics, to "for a good time call xxx-xxx-xxxx" I'll bring spray paint with me and paint all axes, helmets, and guns I find then put them back. I'll leave random flares and run off. I'll take extra ammo and one bullet at a time write things or draw dongs in the middle of the road somewhere in Berezino. I'll gather up all the zombies I can find and have them follow me into a building with well known/sought spawns and then camp out upstairs so the downstairs is loaded with a dozen or so zombies. I'll make splints and randomly put them on top of high places (pick them up BEFORE you fall!). I'll take off all my gear and leave it in some random easy to find place where I KNOW someone will find it and go gear up again. Merry Christmas and happy confusion! This is even funnier if I let some zombies whack me first so everything is ruined, then it's not Christmas but more like April fools! I'll whisper into my mic when people are near and make myself sound as if there's a whole squad. This is fun when doing against actual squads and seeing how they react. I'll pretend my leg is broken and crawl along the road, and when someone comes to help I'll stand up and run away screaming. I've tried jumping off water towers onto people below. If I die I'll blame them on my mic for not catching me. I'll approach someone with my flashlight drawn and tell them to stick em up, which they usually do. Thankfully the animation is the same as holding a handgun, it's hilarious how few players notice the difference. I've found someone AFK before in a room, and knocked them unconscious and removed all their gear, then left and shut the door. When they come to they're naked up they have all of their gear and need to spend time picking up each individual item again. There are a million and one things I've found to do in game for amusement as the lone wolf. Not all those who wander are lost...

Save The Trees Man! Marginalized Wilderness
Death By Crowbar replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
There's a perfectly good body of salt water if you run far enough... but you might die of dehydration or boredom trying. Devs need to get off their buts and provide a way to desalinate water so the tree huggers can get pushed further north where they belong, like the wildlings north of The Wall in Westeros.
