The point is strafing and hitting, on a server where your ping is 80 or less, is completely reliable. In a rare lag event you *might* get hit, but you can essentially take on nearly limitless zeds this way (even bare fisted!) safely. Zeds are no threat to anyone so long as you know how to engage them and deal with them appropriately. Finding a small hill to run down only makes the work more simple when they fall to their deaths.

I usually only play servers where my ping is 80 or less. Anything over 100 I filter out (which I think is the default), but sometimes I'll lower my filter to a max of 80.

A well known issue logged many times in bug tracker that people exploit rampantly in the game, easily repeatable. Have some pride and don't try to figure out how you did it, when it happens on accident it's forgivable, but when people do it on purpose it's a scumbag exploit move that I'd estimate upwards of 25-50% of the community uses. It's rampant, really rampant. The day this gets fixed is the day you stop seeing identically kitted squads so easily holding down positions in cities and airfields.

I've found 1, just ONE!!! fish hook in quite a lot of hours played and towns looted. So yeah, no fishing for me. Unless then plan on allowing you to spear fish, use grenades to concuss and mass kill, shoot fish, etc there won't be much fishing happening until they up the spawn rate of fish hooks. I've found more Pristine LRS's than fish hooks.

First time I got disinfectant spray I wanted to check it out, and when I right clicked it I accidentally chose drink instead of inspect. You can all guess what happened maybe 20 minutes later... and I was all excited to try to force feed it to someone. Karma at it's finest.

Stand toe to toe and duke it out and you will lose. You must bust a move and strafe, or more precisely, simply circle them and you will NEVER be hit (unless there's lag/desync). Gimps get killed by zeds, winners go home and F the prom queen (which is pretty much everyone but true bambis).

There are people you can trust... but you shouldn't really trust anyone. This was a jerk move... but I suppose it's the type of thing that happens in DayZ that makes you be ever vigilant and on guard. You are never safe. I like the story about a husband and wife playing at the airfields and the husband finds and LRS after which the wife shoots him to get and the husband is facepalming as she's laughing her ass off in the other room.

Dunno how... but if I'm reading this right it's: Sick Very Sick Critically Sick Death.... unless I find/eat charcoal tabs, is that accurate? Man, clicking too fast and ate a stupid rotten pepper. F peppers.

Also, you really need to double tap "w" to run fast. If you're jogging and not running everywhere the game is going to take a LOT longer and you'll never outrun zombies, let alone the fact that players will easily chase you down and kill you.

The water bottle part - you have to put the water bottle in your hands and then use the "f" action key to choose to fill it. A tip you can also do the same when it's raining, although it might take you 15 hits to fill it from rain water. Better than nothing in a pinch! Always hold onto water bottles or canteens.

Two nights ago I did this for grins. A squadron of guys came to the edge of the road and yelled for me to come get cover... then they executed me firing squad style. I lasted about 3 minutes and 20 seconds. So, it's not impossible, but hilariously they looked like a hero group and I thought they were actually going to help me out. Bambi is always in season...

"End Game" is a dragon with 4 heads in another dimension. I agree with other posters, in DayZ there is simply "game". Survive!!

The End Game in DayZ is different than Arma because DayZ is not, I repeat is NOT, a pure PVP FPS. DayZ is a survival game, you always have the choice to engage someone or not. It's not Quake 3 or HL2 Deathmatch itchy trigger finger every man for himself.

I've had this happen before, maybe 3x, and was never sure if it was coincidence or if I'd just nailed the admin who wanted to get his gear back. I've learned in this game there are very few coincidences...

Thankfully the game still has a feature supports item duping, errr, I mean making copies. There don't have to be only 4 left, they don't need to go extinct! However, if both you and anyone you give them to are moral and ethical that won't be an option...

That would be really neat if the devs put an "Easter egg" effect like that, even if temporarily. Where did you find the Bible? I'm wondering if they follow real world spawn likelihood of hotels and churches or if they're random.

Well, minor update - I finished out my session surviving maybe another hour with my screen getting grey and the "I feel sick" or whatever status when you hit tab going to a very dark maroon red. I am fully hydrated and energized though, so who knows? Pray for me! Perhaps tonight I'll update with whatever my fate ends up being so it's not a lost learning experience. I'm going to try to survive...

Without charcoal tabs is it sure death, even if I eat and drink a ton? I think I'm at least 3 towns away from anything medial that might have the charcoal tabs, and fading fast.

Question - with the navmesh what happens with low fences we must hit "v" to vault over, do zeds run around them, through them, or do they too jump now?

Isn't that how it looks just before the alien ships blow it up?

I've found the looking for a "reliable" sniping place is similar to trying to choose the right checkout lane in a busy supermarket or the right security line at the airport. It's entirely random on whether you'll see someone in 30 minutes. And part of that "reliable" part is a place with a great field of view and defensible (someone isn't likely to wander onto you without you seeing them coming). I won't snipe one of the common places either, such as the apt buildings, it's too cliche. I've tried the rocks before, it's got a great field of view but it's not looking at those main streets where the looters are likely to be. Also keep in mind that on the rocks, if you drop your weapon you're likely to lose it (either you won't be able to pick it up or the object will disappear)... or you'll randomly fall through the rocks and die. Rocks are so goddamn buggy.

I've been thinking a lot about this lately, and I'm tossed between definitions. In my mind, a bandit is someone who will hold you up, maybe cuff you, maybe torture you a bit, steal your gear, but might let you live. They also might still kill you. in my mind, a murderer is someone who is out to kill you with no interest in your gear, they're strictly interested in PVP and ending you for sport, grins, whatever. Does anyone else view a distinction between these two? When someone says KOS I don't think bandit, I think murderer... at least within the context of DayZ and how content, gear, and interactions work. I just think there's a vast difference between someone who's a bandit and someone who's pure intent is to kill with no interest in the target nor the target's gear.
