I found another issue reported in this build that claims 2 people playing together noticed that one could see items, and the other couldn't, even when standing right in front of it and hitting tab. Have you tried completely shutting DayZ down and maybe even going overkill and rebooting? There's something crazy going on there that, from the way the issues are being reported, causing some people to not see some/all items. Have you died yet? That might be worth trying as well. Also try logging into a Hardcore server and see if you still get it. A lot of time weird states/glitches that are the "sometimes not always" variety can be shaken off if you try a few things. If anything you try works definitely update the ticket.

The accounts for the bug tracker and the boards are different. Just look around the top and click through and make an account, log in, then come back here and simply click through the link I provided. You'll see an area where you can add to the notes and chime in. The more people report and contribute to these the better and quicker the resolution will be.

That's... unusual. I see someone already logged that as an issue, was that you? If it wasn't you, you should chime in on the notes and indicate you had the same problem. From the ticket you're not alone, definitely add to the notes if you haven't already. http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=15528

Is this Regular or Hardcore? Stable or Experimental? Also - what's your looting strategy, are you trying every barn, house, etc? What about the buildings that ALWAYS have something, such as hospitals, police stations, fire stations, etc? Are you familiar with what/where they are and have you found anything there?

Why...........(movement and avatar control)
Death By Crowbar replied to creativecole's topic in General Discussion
Exactly what EvilTigerAce said. I believe you can chop down any tree or bush in the world. That's a lot of state to track on that alone. Then there's all of the doors, items, gas stations, corpses, zeds, etc. Entirely different game, entirely different purpose and goal. CS is straight FPS, DayZ is not, and for good reason. But back to the topic at hand on the controls - check the bug tracker on what's been reported and what's where in the voting order. For those who don't participate much in the community and especially the bug tracker it's important to remember to go there, every week, and do your part as an Early Access Alpha participant. If you've not been there to report issues let alone vote on them, here's what it looks like: -

I had reported this as a bug a while back, I'm glad they fixed it, because it's kinda an exploit! http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=11893 -

This is where you're mistaken, or at least misunderstanding. 100% of everyone here will PVP if it comes to that, but far less than 95% are playing DayZ solely for PVP, because after all, DayZ isn't a PVP game. It's a survival game, with PVE and an ever present PVP threat. If you think the point of the game is to run to an airfield or Berezino and start blasting everyone you see, well, you won't like this game very long and you certainly won't want to play the final product. The controls are still a work in progress, as the whole game is a work in progress. This is what it's like to play an Early Access Alpha product, it's not remotely fished, refined, or optimized properly yet, and it's relying A LOT on the community to submit feedback and report bugs. The controls being complained about are known issues easily found in the bug tracker which you can (and should!) vote on or further report. The entire engine which was an Arma port is being re-written piece by piece and many of the systems are being rewritten. Heck, Zeds only just recently moved to navigating via navmesh. Of course the responsiveness of the controls and such needs to (and will) improve, but there are many systems that aren't even implemented yet and/or that are being re-designed to better fit the end goal of DayZ. -

I was pretty pimp at Quake2/3 (rail gun!), Unreal Tournament, Half Life, etc. Getting used to DayZ was a complete change of mindset for me. It's not twitch reaction time based, it's exactly what said - it's more strategy and planning than reaction time. The object is to survive, not to rack up kills. If it was to arcade style rack up skills you'd spawn fully geared and the map would be much smaller, and maybe we'd have jet packs like in Tribes. Or maybe it would be like Carmageddon and we'd drive over the zombies and get power ups that make them do crazy things such as become giants. To quote the game's main site on Bohemia: -
It takes a long time to gear up, and a lot of effort. All of the running, avoiding being seen or shot at, winning skirmishes that can't be avoided, worrying about starving to death, worrying about falling to your death on stairs knowing darn well you NEED what's up them... and when you see a guy without much gear you know he's either a brand new player (unlikely), or somehow had his gear wiped by a bug (this can happen), or he got killed by someone - and more likely than not he was killed by a bandit style player or a clan. Because of the survival aspect of the game and all of the effort that it can take to find food, clothes, backpacks, let alone weapons and all of the running and surviving required along the way - of course you SHOULD feel bad when you kill someone. This isn't CoD nor is it CS. It's DayZ. You can play as an aggressive survivor but it's not the purpose/design of the game, thus why you feel bad. That's a good thing.

Sounds like you'd rather be playing Arma than DayZ SA. You also seem to have a fetish for a lot of periods, you appear to have used your daily quota on the subject alone! -
PS4's hardware is likely better than a lot of the people who complain about lag in cities. Because let's be honest, if you lag in cities there is definitely something wrong with your system (not enough RAM, insufficient graphics card, etc). That being said, I'd only play a game like this on PC. You simply cannot play a first person shooter on a console the way you do on a PC. Put a console player head to head with someone who's got keyboard and mouse and the PC player would smoke them every time.

What Do You Want to See When you die?
Death By Crowbar replied to CANUCKinNZ's topic in General Discussion
When I die I want to see dancing naked women. That's pretty much it. If that feature can be added this would be the best game ever. -
You said a lot there, I'm trying to figure out if it was really cleaver tongue in cheek or if you meant something else. Do you mean if a sniper actually hits you you're a noob for not keeping moving eradically and being aware of your surroundings? Or do you mean sniping people is a noob way of killing people? Or a combination of #1 and #2 above?

So, this is a real thing! I've had it, and it's actually excellent: http://www.berkshirebrewingcompany.com/coffeehouse.html if anyone lives in the greater New England area where they distribute to, you should definitely try it. I've found it in Connecticut, Mass, and as far as Maine.

Well, the heads in the helmets and the story line were all good, I wasn't sure how much was fact vs fiction. I like the way you folded it together! Twice when I was bored I looted a small town and put every item I could find into the middle of the street, just for grins. One time I stuck around to see if anyone noticed and how they'd react, the other time I just did it and ran.

I have some questions on SA's roadmap if y'all can help please
Death By Crowbar replied to billyangstadt's topic in General Discussion
It's a great feature. The few times I've seen someone vomit I've nearly lost it laughing. you should make people vomit when they run too long without stopping... chasing someone down and all the sudden they start vomiting because they're exhausted and over stuffed, lol. -
pig killers make serios mistake

In honor of the pig, this story deserves some bacon. You're hilarious Shrub! -
Why do I get the impression this is partially based on a real story? Either way, I like it. :D :beans: :beans:

Dean's Beans - is actually a beer?
Death By Crowbar replied to Death By Crowbar's topic in General Discussion
I'm assuming the "Dean Hall" and "Beans" reference wouldn't fly over people's heads... "Dean" and "Beans" are sorta iconic to DayZ. -
Play the game the way you want to play it. I used to ALWAYS play the nice guy. Spent a month and maybe 200 hours that way. However, for a week I got into a really bad run where everyone I'd approach or help would end up killing me, or if I was helping someone we'd both get killed while talking or something. Then I spent maybe a month or so playing the lone wolf and not talking to anyone and shooting first and asking questions later (only when there was no way to avoid). However, in the past 2 weeks I've had a lot of good interactions again, and just 2 nights ago I was in western Berezino in the parts up on the hill and I ran into 2-3 decently nice people ranging from a guy just looking for SKS ammo to another guy hiding in a corner who I ended up teaming up with for a bit to loot and look out for each other. That's the best part about DayZ, you don't know how people are going to react, in a lot of ways it really is like what I'd imagine the apocalypse would be like. Hang in there, there are good non-KOS people out there.

I attempted to enter either the police station, fire station, or crane all of which have the steep stairs. The last 3 times (in a row) I've tied have been in these buildings due to bugs and situations beyond my control. I simply had a broken leg then suddenly died. That's how I last died. It's not a glorious story... but it's true. I can't wait until they address this issue.

I never claimed that it didn't contain bugs or issues. I was responding to all of the whining that it's unplayable or impossible, it's quite the latter. Also in response to the complaints that zeds ruin all their gear and that zeds can't be hit at all and killed, if you're playing properly it takes things such as desync and bad luck for a zed to actually hit. So it takes you 2-3 swings before you finally connect, but so what? It's still playable and still not difficult That's my point, it's not chest thumping, it's not claiming there are no issues - I'm merely giving an accurate assessment of the situation and offering guidance (links to tutorial vidoes) for those who seem to obviously need it.

Things I immediately noticed about today's release...
Death By Crowbar posted a topic in General Discussion
These are subtle or not in the Devblog that I've found so far. Anyone else notice anything interesting? Seems like a lot went into this release. Binoculars are back to a 1x2 slot item (no longer 2x2). Meelee has changed a lot - you need to be a lot more accurate, you can't just swing wildly in the direction of your target. Zeds seem to swarm a bit more and I'm noticing more hoppers now. Military boots are new - and they appear to have storage, but I cannot for the life of me figure out what to put in them! Nothing fits. The ragdoll effects are pretty neat, you can end up with dead people/zeds in all different positions, even kneeling like this (don't mind me bandaging myself): -
DayZ has currency already, it includes (in rough order of value): Books Chem lights or flares Track Suits Spray Paint (yes, this is more valuable than Track Suits!) Real Clothes Backpacks Food/water Meelee weapons Range weapons Ammo Can openers (or other things that open cans, but can openers are the best) Your filthy stinking LIFE... you always pay with this now don't ya!?!!
