This is - an interesting poll. Here's some things to consider. Would DayZ feel and play differently? Bohemia had the luxury of the Arma engine and successful mod to start with as a base, but it's almost like "Pimp my ride" on Mtv where they take a run of the mill vehicle and try to pimp it out for another purpose. Some things get removed, some things get completely replaced, some things just get some lipstick and a paint job, and some of the framework that works might just stay in place. That's what they're doing, so even what we're used to now will still change considerably as things are tweaked, tuned, fixed, etc. The answer is yes it would be different, but not better, certainly not at this point in the dev cycle. Would DayZ have more or less glitches? Would the base systems such as movement feel less clunky? Likely not at this point in the early alpha dev cycle. Most people don't even get access to a game at this early unfinished stage unless you're a paid tester. Most games don't even let the outside world see it until it's proclaimed at least "beta". Do you think DayZ would have any different features, such as destructable world, easter eggs etc? Of course, but there's still a lot coming, I'm not sure how to guess a measure on features and content completed by I would have to venture a guess that they're not even half way there yet. Barricades, vehicles, all coming, and the mod had destructable buildings and I see no reason why they couldn't/wouldn't add that to standalone as well. Heck, I can already chop down any tree in the world!Early Access Alpha - it's glitchy, buggy, many features not implemented yet, etc by design because it's Early Access Alpha. Many companies wouldn't even take the risk of doing an early access alpha, it's a fairly new phenomena. I'm not defending Bohemia, but as I've gotten engaged in the community, tried to read up and understand the history of what's happened and keep an ear into what's going on, it all makes sense and I can tell you that I've already gotten my money's worth out of the game. I certainly look forward to each Wednesday to find out what's been fixed, added, tweaked, etc. It's a work in progress and ever changing which keeps things interesting. I'm almost concerned about a final stable product that doesn't change keeping me engaged!

In general, there's 2 public hives for the Stable branch - Regular or Hardcore (forget the new names for these?). You log into a Regular server on Stable and then into anther one and your character should be right where you left it with the gear you had. If you then log into a Hardcore server on Stable you're on a different hive, meaning you have a different character (different location, different gear). So your Regular follows your Regular and your Hardcore follows your Hardcore. I'm not sure if there are private hives yet? But there will be, and those will be different/separate.

Apparently in Russia you can also ride bears.

Also - if you spawned under a bridge near an ocean inlet or small pond or something - there was a bugged spawn location that would cause you to spawn naked in your undies with absolutely no gear. I don't know if they fixed that yet or not. I'm sure some people can chime in about that one, I also experienced that one once and it totally threw me for a loop.

Couple of things here. There are known issues with hives/databases/etc that can cause your character to wipe. Doesn't happen often, but people report it happening. There's a big global wipe coming up in a few releases anyway (allegedly with .49 build) so don't get too attached to that gear! Zeds keep aggro for an unbelievably long time and will follow you a lot longer than you think. You could very well have camped and had a zed you ran from earlier (or one that simply wandered by) come up and kill you in the 40ish seconds your avatar exists in the world after camping. As Warhoax said, a player may have noticed you camping and came along and ended you and/or stolen your stuff.On #1 - I've had an issue happen 2 times where I logged out of server A and later into server B, and after logging into server B I was right where I logged out by my gear was all missing (all my item slots were empty, but I had my containers). I then proceeded to log back into server A and like magic all of my items were back again. I think I reported this, or found a report someone else made and voted and chimed in on the Feedback Tracker. So in summary - your account is likely fine. This Early Access Alpha has a lot of quirks above and beyond normal game mechanics that might not be obvious that can cause what you experienced to happen. You likely did nothing wrong.

Maybe our avatars are all taller northern European or generally well fed and not to the same scale of those who were malnourished or living off vodka during the communist regime? Could always shrink our avatars rather than grow all the buildings. On the topic of buildings the other day I started to take screenshots of pictures hanging in them. There's some interesting ones. There's a lot of touches from an artistic standpoint that I think most of us simply run right by and take for granted or don't notice. Also, every time I'm in a bedroom where there's blood smeared all over the floor I just think of that one Frankie episode where the guy in the mask with the voice changer is like, "Oh no, somebody forgot to use a tampon" and I start laughing. LOL...

They should be spawning, but I see them less often. Since they've added worms those are more fun to force feed people than rotten fruit. :) The loot tables and respawning loot, persistence, etc have sorta changed a lot of the loot dynamics you were used to. But to answer you, they should still spawn.

With the respawning loot I seem to find the bare necessities on even high pop servers. A lot of time when I don't have many inventory slots I'll pass up the Pipsi type cans (or drink them immediately if I don't think there's anyone around). I'm all about the tactical bacon and peaches, mmmm.

Wow, my hardcore guy was down in Kamyshovo (sp?). Had a run up to Berezino and eyes were shutting. Beware, I'm coming.. but another night!

This server is Hardcore! Headed north towards Berezino.. I see some FOG online, beware!

First - panty hose, tank tops, and boxers with starts? I don't think they exist. Was it a female toon or a male avatar? Way to discriminate against survivors not as fortunate with loot as you are. He was probably someone who just bought the game and was trying to deal with an inventory bug/quirk and you went and killed him! Murderer!... did you loot the boxers with the stars?

Torturing and / or killing captives, it's a part of the experience. However, as you can see there's not a consensus on what's the right way to do it and what's acceptable vs what's not. The fact that the game allows for taking hostages and holding people it is a large part of what makes it fun. The type of stuff that people are like, "Don't KOS!" because of. It's more interesting interacting more towards how a human IRL would rather than what a twitch reaction hair trigger player in Quake, Half Life, CoD, Halo, etc would do. That being said, the threat of getting your brains blown out is also part of the fun, the game needs people who pull the trigger (even though people who always ONLY pull the trigger are frowned upon - no matter how they attempt to justify it, that's the teenager CoD style of play).

Don't get too happy... all it takes is some stairs in either an aircraft control tower or fire station, OR some sniper or crazy ax man to quickly take away those shiny new things! Enjoy them while they last! :P

This thread will 99% certainty get noticed by one of the mods and merged into the stickied hacking status thread pinned at the top of the forum FYI. But until then, by 2 cp: I was running towards Novo, and heard an M4 firing. Rythmic firing, as if he was doing a drum beat from a rock song. After the 200th shot I realized I was up against someone with a hacked unlimited mag and I simply turned around and headed the other direction. I was in Cernaya Polana when I heard loud shots going off near me. I snuck around a building to see what was happening and saw 2 guys teleporting across the field between CP and Novo chasing 2-3 other people. I immediately ran into the nearest 2 story building and logged out and back into another server hoping the hackers weren't into server hopping.Moral of the story - I avoid them at all costs (and report them when I can). I cannot WAIT until the server wipe with .49 and item duping being fixed, and I also cannot wait until the teleporters are dealt with. Until then, I just deal with it and when I know I'm up against cheaters I either avoid the situation or simply log and try another server in hopes that there aren't hackers there as well.

It should sound like a really really positive thing! I for one am totally in support of and looking forward to it!
