Was the version that went live today .49?
-
I will say this - I used to "LOL @ U!" for people who posted problems with zombies, but that was when I always played 3pp and before the respawn update. Lately I've been playing a lot of 1pp and I can say with confidence that it's far harder to deal with zeds in 1pp with meelee, couple that with the respawn update and I've actually died at least 2 times from zombies. If I enter a town where it's clear noone's been around I'm usually in for quite the fight and will try to sneak by as many as I can. Lonewolf in 1pp is harder these days, especially with the zed hitbox being bungered at the moment. I actually view zombies as something I need to really worry about now, especially when playing 1pp/Hardcore, and ESPECIALLY after freshly spawning.

Early Access (alpha, beta, whatever you label it is irrelevant for this model) is entirely different than Open Beta or other types of pre-release models / testing that people are familiar with. I think that's what everyone struggles the most with, even I did when I first started. I recall my early rage rants on the forums when I clearly had no understanding of what an Early Access model was, regardless of the "I understand" button I had to hit each time before I could log into the game. It's a new and foreign concept to most people, followed a close second by how new and foreign the concept that DayZ isn't CoD.

Morale of the story - don't mess with a hoe. -
Should Rocket go sooner rather than later?

I accept the beans (and Peaches if they were supported on the forum and in return offer you Marklars! -
A few people have complained about this already today. You're not alone...

It's people who don't understand this that are really going to most dislike the final DayZ product. It's why when people say, it's not CoD, they mean, it's not CoD.

Very few good things happen in the police station. It's almost always kill or be killed in there. It's always amusing when someone is too nervous or pumped to aim properly, he might have been trying to simply hip shot you which would explain a lot.

So where have all the Mosins gone?
Death By Crowbar replied to Mad Scientist's topic in General Discussion
I often mistake mosin ammo for canned sardines. -
My only thoughts on this - Russians make some pretty shitty rain coats and wellies. I should be impervious to rain but I still get soaked with them on! ... I know, I know, it's not implemented yet, but I've tried them a few times just in case. :D

Hacks/exploits I've seen or seen discussed: Hack - teleportation. Well known and widely reported hack. Haven't seen anyone discuss a timing on addressing this. Hack - ESP (knowing exactly where you are). I *think* some BE updates helped with this, but from what I've read people still report this happening. Hack - disarming or removing items from your inventory. I don't see this talked about as much anymore but people used to talk about it a lot. Maybe BE updates or DayZ updates helped stop this? Hack - teleporting other players near some lake. This one seems very new from the couple of discussions I've seen. Hack - glitched mag with unlimited ammo. .49 update and pending global wipe is meant to help deal with this, seems to mainly effect M4 from what I've heard. Exploit - item duping. .49 update and pending global wipe is meant to help deal with this or stop it completely. Exploit - Eat All and similar options allowed for unlimited food/drink/etc by simply swapping out a junk item into your hands before the action finished. They fixed this maybe a month ago. There's been others, but those are the main ones that I've seen or heard of. I know people don't like the "remember, it's early access alpha" message but that's important to keep in mind - the games ENGINE isn't finished let alone many features and safe guards. The best thing anyone can do is to keep reporting issues and hacks so the devs have all of the information possible at their finger tips to address it as completely as possible while also working with BattleEye.

So where have all the Mosins gone?
Death By Crowbar replied to Mad Scientist's topic in General Discussion
LOL!!! We've solved the mystery of why zombies classically don't go into the ocean. Dolphins armed with mosins, LOL... Soon! -
So where have all the Mosins gone?
Death By Crowbar replied to Mad Scientist's topic in General Discussion
I've been stealing them all and throwing them into the ocean! -
I dunno, just sounds like you need some ointment for your butthurt and maybe some cheese to go with your wine... especially because you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about nor any clue what an early alpha is nor how to read up on the roadmap and status. You'd be better off purchasing a game in full release and not trying to participate in an early access alpha.

I heard the most disturbing "friendly" conversation last night. Dude1: "Hey, are you friendly? Don't shoot!" Dude2: "That depends, you a friend with benefits? What do you have in those pants there?" ... this was in the police station in Svetlo. I was hiding in the back bedroom on the 1st floor. I couldn't help myself, so I chimed in... Me: "This conversation is going to be hilarious on YouTube!" ... at this point shots are immediately fired, I guess each other thought I was working with the other and they decided to fight. I hear one of them who survived say, "I got him. Where's the other?" It was at that point when I ran out the side door laughing.

What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?
Death By Crowbar replied to RadikulRAM's topic in General Discussion
Yes, this is the well known ESP / teleport hack. When you encounter someone doing this you should hit "P", get the names on the server, hit F12 (screenshot), then log out and report it. Or, if you're simply just trying to enjoy your time in the apocalypse, log out and log back into some other server away from the hacker. If you youtube this you'll see plenty of examples of people doing exactly what you saw happening. -
This is one of the prime examples of posts where it's clear people don't understand DayZ nor the vision. DayZ is a zombie survival game, and neither a first person shooter nor a death match game. It just isn't, nor will it ever be. When people say, "Go play CoD" or even "Go play Arma" and most importantly "Don't KOS" they're absolutely right - that's not, nor was it ever, nor will it ever be the point of DayZ. Sure you can play as a bandit or a straight up murderer and although the game needs people like that if everyone tries to play this as a straight FPS it completely ruins the game and general vision. The zombies are a major part of that vision and the general experience. Your goal should be to survive - dealing with (or avoiding) zombies and also making decisions on how to interact with other survivors (merely passing by, cooperating with, exploiting, or killing/defending yourself) is all core to the experience as is the severe penalty for dying. Once item duping is finally gone you'll see people, especially clans, being a LOT more cautious as it won't be as simply and easy to re-gear, moving yet another step away from allowing CoD style combat (by design).

If we get rid of zombies we might as well call it Rust and start naked with our penises swaying in the wind. DayZ - the Z is significant. There's a game that's like DayZ without zombies that already exists - it's called Arma. Good game and fun, quite a bit more polished and finished! But the vision is totally different.

Well yeah, haven't you ever chopped a tree down? They stay down! Just arm an ax, run up to a tree, and spam "F" and chop it down. I purposefully chop trees down across roads and on top of buildings for fun.

It's a well known issue that's been around for a bit. Here's the link to it on the Feedback Tracker. Vote it up! http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=5169

You're lucky you just got a fractured leg and didn't die. It's a well known issue that's been around for a while. Most likely to happen in fire stations and aircraft control towers because of the types of stairs. http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=5169 Go vote it up!

You might lose your axes and thus also your chance to continue the chopping down trees!
-
Yo - I'd logged an issue on this a while back, I'm sure others have too. Definitely experienced weird unusual long range aggro from zeds while observing them via either an LRS or binoculars. http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=12227

As you get more comfortable with the map and knowing what towns are where, you'll also get more comfortable with what loot is commonly found in what type of buildings. Your searching will become much more precise and you'll lower your risk by not searching places that are lower chances of success. Knowing where to find supermarkets, fire stations, police stations, and hospitals helps - and there's a few other common building types that you'll start to gravitate towards because that's where the best stuff is commonly found. Hang in there, you'll figure it out.

I think we should all work together to chop down every tree in Berezino. It's going to take a lot of axes, but we can do it!
