If someone else looted them and then chose "hide body" option I believe you wouldn't be able to see it anymore. This is likely what happened. Also, the body will expire and disappear, I forget what the time limit on that is - it's like 10 minutes or something.

Beware of fire stations and aircraft control towers - going up stairs in them makes you susceptible to the "Random broken leg" or even "You are dead" from whatever the desync or glitch issue is involved with those types of stairs. It's been logged in the Feedback tracker for a while, but it's still not been fixed. Think very carefully if you really want to search those upper floors, consider taking the ladder up in the control tower instead of the stairs.

Handcuffs, burlap sacks, disinfectant spray, blood bags (give them the wrong type!), broken legs, the ability to knock someone out, direct chat, emot animations (the F keys), paper+pen=note, etc. There's already a lot of alternatives that are provided. I can't wait to see more!

Not to be too inflammatory and no offense to OP - I hate posts like this. I realize there's a LOT of information and misinformation out there, but if you follow the devblogs, visit Reddit once in a while, or play after ever updated build that gets applied on Wednesday it's easy to see the general trend of what's being worked on and how the game is progressing. It's an early access alpha, which is a VERY new concept, the types of things people are seeing now (bugs, features that are being added/tweaked, core architecture that's being reworked, content that's still being worked on) are things that people normally wouldn't see, so you would normally not no the pace nor order in which changes are made as a game is approaching a beta or even release build. Saying that you've lost faith at this point is only possible if you're not actively engaged with the project and community to have a good handle on what's going on... and to be fair that's a little difficult to do, and the second you show weakness and ask a question you risk getting attacked by those who will heckle about who to Google or use the search function.

They're going to need to rename the game from "DayZ" to "Everything in the game is trying to kill you" or maybe "StairOfDeathZ".

He's simply saying the point of the game isn't to kill each other, and he's correct. How you choose to survive the in the apocalypse is up to you, even if that means attempting to kill everyone you see. With unlimited glitched mags and duping apparently getting fixed with the .49 build you'd think that ammo would be a little more scarce and those who play this more CoD style than survivor style should get toned down a bit and become more rare.

I would say my best was in Svetlo - this happened maybe 4 months ago. There I was running down the street with just a Fire Extinguisher and very little other gear (I was a bambi). 2 guys come up to me talking to me, then a 3rd and a 4th join in, just chatting, all having fun......... and that's when the madness begins. The 2 guys who were together had small gun of sorts and an ax, they attacked me. I bust a move and get out my fire extinguisher. Thanks to the knock down factor it has I kept knocking them to the ground which helped subdue the gunfire. Here's where it gets interesting... the 3rd and 4th dude all get the same idea, and attack the people who were attacking me while also attacking me at the same time. A battle royale so to speak breaks at the edge of Svetlo. Long story short - that was the day I learned not to underestimate the fire extinguisher. I ended up knocking the other 4 people out and killing them, and looted everything they had that I could use. 1 of the 4 spawned close and came back, I let him loot what was left and we headed off to cooperate on loot in another town, Krasno I think. My second best day was approaching Berezino. This happened maybe 3 months ago. So I got killed down near Elektro and spawned south of Berezino (this was before all of the spawns were moved north). As I was trying to get my bearings I ran into 2 dudes who were talking about a guy killing everyone in Berezino and how they wanted help taking him down. I was game, so we headed North on the road. We ran into 2 other bambis and recruited them. Then we ran into yet 2 more bambis, and recruited them as well. 7 essentially bambis, not a gun on us, zerged Berezino and we did end up taking the shooter down but I think only 2 of us lived. If I recall the guy had an unlimited mag which was part of the problem. I've come to know this night as "the bambi zerg night".

And your subject said, "No one want to play because of the reset..." This is so very false. I'm enjoying my time before the reset, and I'm going to enjoy it even more after the reset. Who have you heard isn't playing until after the reset?

I hope you're wrong. What you just wrote is so upsetting if we were in game I'd attack you like a spider monkey and ruin all your gear (no offense, you're cool). But man, I sure hope max run speed doesn't get nerfed...

Some words to live by. Never trust a server's advertised rule set. Those aren't enforceable and don't really exist. Yet. And maybe ever. DayZ is a survival game, elements of PVP and PVE, you have starvation/hydration to worry about as well as zombies and other players (and known bugs in the game that will definitely kill you like stairs in aicraft control towers or fire stations). Even though what I say in #2 is accurate, MANY MANY players play the game as if it were CoD (Call of Duty). It's gotten worse over the past 4 months. These players won't give you much fun interaction and won't work with you, they'll KOS (shoot you on sight). So use stealth and smarts and stay hidden, but always know it's a worthwhile gamble to try to engage with someone and work together. CoD style players will die off as the early access alpha matures and more survival game play mechanics are put into place and things such as item duping and glitched unlimited mags disappear after the .49 wipe. Regardless of what happens to you - still have faith in humanity. There are heroes, medics, and general "survivors" out there who are willing and able to give you a good experience in game, friending you, cooperating on looting and looking out for each other, saving each other from zeds, etc. Learn the signs of who to trust and who not to trust, and communicate. Avoid areas where gimps, hackers, and douches congregate - which is primarily Berezino. Berezino is Russian for "dingle berry toilet water drank by 13 year olds or younger with a side of douche".

I will say this - I used to "LOL @ U!" for people who posted problems with zombies, but that was when I always played 3pp and before the respawn update. Lately I've been playing a lot of 1pp and I can say with confidence that it's far harder to deal with zeds in 1pp with meelee, couple that with the respawn update and I've actually died at least 2 times from zombies. If I enter a town where it's clear noone's been around I'm usually in for quite the fight and will try to sneak by as many as I can. Lonewolf in 1pp is harder these days, especially with the zed hitbox being bungered at the moment. I actually view zombies as something I need to really worry about now, especially when playing 1pp/Hardcore, and ESPECIALLY after freshly spawning.

Early Access (alpha, beta, whatever you label it is irrelevant for this model) is entirely different than Open Beta or other types of pre-release models / testing that people are familiar with. I think that's what everyone struggles the most with, even I did when I first started. I recall my early rage rants on the forums when I clearly had no understanding of what an Early Access model was, regardless of the "I understand" button I had to hit each time before I could log into the game. It's a new and foreign concept to most people, followed a close second by how new and foreign the concept that DayZ isn't CoD.

It's people who don't understand this that are really going to most dislike the final DayZ product. It's why when people say, it's not CoD, they mean, it's not CoD.
