If duping & glitched mags are now in the past...

My understanding is that .49 build along with the wipe both fixes/stops the duping exploit and also cleanses the world of duped items and glitched items such as infinite mags. What's everyone expectation on how this will impact game play? I have a few theories, and I'm excited to log in tonight to see if I'm right. Changes I expect to see: Groups of players or clans completely kitted out in identical gear should be a thing of the past, or when they do happen they must be REALLY good or server hoppers. Players who would normally be extremely aggressive due to friends to re-dupe gear them OR having glitched unlimited mags will be a lot less aggressive. Teleporters with glitched infinite mags will be a thing of the past - but my concern with that is that they'll actually NEED your gear now, so they'll be less likely to mow you over and keep moving and more likely to loot your gear.Basically - the economy of gear, ammo especially, will be smaller, and that should make an impact on play styles we see (and the frequency). -

I fell off a water tower while messing around with another bambi. We both jumped to see what would happen. This was before they revamped the gravity settings, back when you could often live and not even break your legs. Anyway, he was fine, and I broke my legs after which he beat me unconscious and killed me then roleplayed screaming, "He was my friend! Waahhh!! *cries*" Never did find that guy again, but he was funny. -

RIP duping clans with identical gear. RIP glitched mags (supposedly). The world is going to be a little less aggressive now because the penalty for death is slightly steeper without duping. -
All right, who locked a zed in the server room allowing it to trip over the power cord? :) The outage didn't last long, but I saw it. What happened?

I thought I read this patch isn't .49 quite yet for some reason, but now that I check Reddit I see Eugen updated that it is happening about an hour ago. Guess the great wipe is finally here! -
I am chill. wrote, "i cant post on the fucking bug tracker" to which I whimsically responded "Why can't you post on the fucking bug tracker?" and gave him some hopefully helpful information. The "fucking" part was merely tongue in cheek copying .

Why can't you post on the fucking bug tracker? http://feedback.dayzgame.com/ Dunno if this is why you can't post, but for the version don't attempt to type 0.48.blahblah instead simply do 48.blahblah. The prior although accurate doesn't work for some reason and has given me issues in the past, but the ladder example works.

Mistakes you see people do all the time in DayZ

Eating or drinking in a poor location. While thinking they're hidden keep moving so we hear his gun jiggling. Standing still and trying to meelee a zed head to head (I don't even bother these guys they kill themselves). Dying in fire stations or airport control towers on the stairs (anyone who uses those stairs is asking to die). Jumping off water towers trying to die to get a better spawn point and only ending up with broken legs. In a couple sniping sessions I saw 5 people do this in one hour. I didn't even kill them I merely watched them crawl around looking for some other way to die. Served them right for taking the gimp way out! -
You really shouldn't tell people you're immune to wiping. That could start to really smell, you should get that looked at...

The last time I held someone up I merely cuffed them and ran off laughing, I didn't even take anything, I just wanted to cuff them and leave them on the road. Mostly because it was funny and really didn't harm them much (unless someone else or a zed came along). It's all a part of what makes the game special and different. I like the player C story most btw.

Brilliant! I also love how the "FRIENDLY" truly captures the essence of what it is to play DayZ as non-KOS. He didn't know if he should leave, try to make contact, or what. Totally captures the spirit of the game. ... when he was resting against the car I almost expected to see a male zed come around the corner and do that silly roar with his hands in the air and charge! -

I know the blood splatter exists, but they should definitely react somehow. I'm hopeful as they tweak the animations and physics that this would be accommodated, for meelee as well (even though the "thud" exists). -

I don't know about removing military gear. I do think that the "junk houses" which most of us rarely if ever enter and search should have a degree of chance to spawn a weapon rather than certain well known spawn points. You can expect police stations and army facilities to have guns, but civilians must have had guns too and I'd expect it would make sense to be able to find sporters at least in the lesser spawn locations (including ammo).

Looking for a specific person in DayZ

A thread like this crops up maybe every 2 weeks. It's common enough - and sometimes steam names aren't findable for some reason (steam can be really strange at times, awesome at others). A game mechanic that would simplify this would be well received by some. DayZ is more MMORPG than FPS in some respects, and this is one of them. I know there's the push to make it realistic and what not with no global chat, but at some point understanding that tools that help people connect is important especially for the success of the game. I would wager *something* that addresses this will be present in the final release build. -
It's some teleporter's detached dong after *most* of him stopped at a wall (the rest of him ended up outside in a field).

I wouldn't be too concerned, all if it will change anyway. The loot tables are far from final and are being tweaked, the spawn locations aren't final, etc. It's also hard to "test" items and mechanics in an alpha if they're difficult to find. Let's be honest - anyone who "plays" an alpha is actually testing it, thus the definition of an alpha and why there's weekly builds and the feedback tracker. Enjoy this current phase of the game's development where we're in a time of plenty, that can and likely will change. ... although I must say with the amount of time I have to play if I die to a glitch, hacker, carelessness, or I just get honestly outplayed I know in an hour's time I can at least get myself hydrated, energized, and armed with *something*. Based upon my time windows of play that's helpful.

I've logged a bug where it appeared as though zombies I was observing from as far as 800m away (farther than you can see with the unaided eye) would aggro and come after me. Also keep in mind some do wander, and if you aggro one I have no idea how the aggro radius nor timer works, but sometimes it seems as though it's infinite. Also a player may have aggroed one, had it chase them, then lost aggro but the zed was either close enough to you or started to wander and pathed close enough to you to notice you. There's so many factors, including things that are known to be bugs or partially implemented, it's hard to say exactly what you were dealing with. Always be on your guard!

You should log this in the bug tracker, or search for "catapult" and there's a couple that sound an aweful lot like what happened to you. Chime in on them and add some color. -
Problem is - most of what OP is saying appear to me to be well known, I've seen them discussed in the pinned thread and also seen reports of them in feedback tracker (although some of those appear and disappear off feedback tracker for obvious reasons). However, the one he's most upset about is well known, you can find a report of it here. So there's not really much to submit to forum staff that's not been already submitted. What OP is saying is it seems the frequency of running into people taking advantage in this way is increasing, and I'd say I'd have to concur.

Depends on what he's saying. If he's saying creating one building takes that long - well, yeah that's a long time, but I don't think that's what he's saying. Sounds to me as if he's talking about creating more unique buildings for various locations and then integrating those into all of those locations, which I'd have to imagine would take re-working some of those locations a bit. I could see that taking time. The 140 character limit of twitter seems to not have given him much room to elaborate.
