Early access alpha is such a newer concept it's difficult for a lot of people to grasp, but with 2.5 million+ people having bought the game that's a lot of re-explaining that has to happen over and over again. Keep up the good fight.

I think of Rambo. A knife (almost always skip it) Bow (almost always skip it) Arrows (almost always skip it) Chem lights (I break them and leave them so others can enjoy the colors, rarely do I pick them up) Bullets (leave them a lot if they don't match my gun, might need to cauterize my would!) Matches (I leave a lot of them) Walkie Talkie (how are you going to tell Murdoch that you're coming for him?) Cargo Pants (I skip them if there's something better)... and that's pretty much all Rambo needed, a lot of which I skip in DayZ.

It's not really a server thing, it's a "type of stairs" thing. The aircraft control towers and fire stations have them, they also exist in a few other places, such as some cranes, ship wrecks, forget where else I've seen them. They all have the same known bug and risk, as I understand it something about their steepness and the client + server desync gets confused and it thinks you've fallen or something and boom broken leg and or death. Hoping someone who knows more about this can chime in and give us the correct information. Perhaps accolyte knows...

Beware of going upstairs in fire stations and aircraft control towers. There's a known issue that can happen there because of the unique type of stairs where once you go up randomly your leg may break and/or you may die (as if you had fallen). Those types of stairs exist in a few other random obscure places but those are the ones where it's most common. My guess is this is likely what you experienced, something like one of these.

I wasn't expecting the door to be locked. I was expecting you to open it and shut it behind you only to have the shrieking freak walk right through the door as if it were a neutrino or somehow immune to electro-static repulsion that should normally be at play between it and the door. Either that or if the house were down a little hill the shrieking person charging at you would randomly fall 5 feet to his death and continue to slide down the road as if friction between its body and the ground had simply been turned off. Come on, it's funny... I kid! :lol:

I had been settling for a Blaze until I just found one 2 days ago. But now I've got a different problem, SKS ammo is as scarce as the gun itself, so I've got plenty of Mosin/Blaze ammo but only 20 rounds for the SKS! I ended up taking the SKS anyway.

You don't watch the shows about hoarders, do you? They do that and pack up the dead zombies and find a way to stuff them in their pockets too!

In game I've talked to others with the same issue. Hacksaw used to be extremely common, I've not seen one in maybe 2 weeks. I would wager there's a problem with the loot table and randomness settings for it, I cannot imagine that would be intentional. Probably worth a Feedback Tracker note imo.

You must have come from the mod. There are no vehicles in DayZ Standalone (yet)!

I've spent the past 3 days wandering around the western and northern spawn locations and am yet to see a heli crash site. It's also difficult that after traveling some distance and maybe covering up to 25% of the possible locations the server reboots, essentially meaning that I need to retrace my steps. They re-roll every time, even on persistence servers, correct?

All duping discussions that I've seen ended with the "great wipe" and .49 release. There's also been no new duping reports that I can find in the Bug Tracker since August, it all dropped off with the .49 release.

With the new cold changes and risk of hypothermia, I've had to carry a fire kit with me (which takes a LOT of space) as any time my jacket gets ruined I get red text about being cold and/or shaking pretty quick. It takes sitting next to a fire to fix that, as far as I can tell. This means that I take a quick few minute break here or there to assemble and sit by the fire. As I was logging off last night it dawned on me - I've picked ok-ish locations to do this, where it's possible someone could run into me but the odds are in my favor. On the flip side, I've not run into anyone sitting by a fire, which I find odd but I guess it makes sense if others are as careful as I am. So my question is as follows - getting cold and needing a fire is a new thing. What's the the consensus on etiquette for dealing with finding someone sitting by a fire trying to warm up?

I have an idea but wouldn't be able to name off the top of my head where most of this crap is!

I used to like the flashlight because the "holding it" animation made you look like you were armed with a gun raised. At least half a dozen times I used that as a bambi to trick people into thinking I was armed and robbed them. Noone died, but man, how gullable people can be! Viva la almighty flashlight!!!!!!!!!!!!

With the .49 release I've neither seen evidence of duping nor seen any reports of it here, on Reddit, nor in the Feedback Tracker. So, there's that...
