Yeah - I saw on Twitter that Hicks was looking for help getting a solid reproduce on that issue so they could fix it, and one finally came through this morning - meaning they can now address it.

The zombies are still a work in progress. There were tons more before the .57 build (also more animals). Although limited I think they made a tweak a week or so ago server side that is at least causing them to respawn, because I've cleaned entire towns out and then circle back through and find it populated with zombies again. However, I agree - when they get the numbers up it's going to change things.

If I say "friendly" its because I'm caught off guard and my brain derped. "Friendly" really means, "95% change I'm going to kill you".

No, there's not and it's not enforceable. If that server is a public server they're actually violating the server hosting rules.

Yeah what stink said - if you placed a tend on a stable server it's already gone as the server surely will have rebooted already. :(

I would absolutely lose it if zombies would pretend to eat you after killing you OR if they'd drag corpses. That would be epic and so much fun. Imagine a zombie killing your friend then begin to drag his corpse away. Talk about creepy and awesome...

Surveying the area with binoculars only to see some dude shoot another dude in the butt cheek and then fail to find him hiding under bushes nearby... Now I need to decide, do I: Do nothing? Go kill the guy who shot the other guy in the butt? Rat out the guy in the bushes and help shoot him in the butt some more until he dies? Kill both of them, carve them up, and eat them? Preach tolerance and the value of life and try to make sure both make it out alive?

The lack of poop. Talk about realism killer. I mean, in Ark people and dinos crap all day long constantly, but in DayZ when there should be turds and projectile diarrhea everywhere there is nothing! :D I sort of kid, but it's kinda a good point. I would have expected pooping to complement vomiting before cannibalism was introduced, but hey, it's in alpha and there's not a good order to add these things. So long as they all get in there we're all good. B) To be honest though one of the worst parts of DayZ, currently (and I don't think this is an alpha related thing it's a general concept flaw), is abuse of public hive servers. White listing, admin abuse, server hopping, hopping abuse (where someone logs out of your server into another to move to your secure location, be it an island, a locked building, etc) to log in and undermine your position / location is something I've struggled with. I realize going to private servers addresses a lot of this, but pegging myself to a particular private server limits the user experience and interaction to a degree that I don't like. I still play public almost exclusively, but it's got conceptual issues that come with it that make it rough at times. I'm still waiting for that feature that allows you to report servers in game much more easily to arrive as well - I know that was talked about in the late winter/spring and it sounded like it was coming sooner than later, but I've not seen talk of it lately so I dunno... but it'll be important for public to work well as a concept. The current system of reporting is exhausting, and the fact that I know for a fact that I could find at least 6 servers to report right now speaks to how it's not working (the current reporting system).

I tried sniping with a Winchester today, and wow was I surprised by the noise. Wow that gun is loud. I've not tried the SVD yet though. My thoughts: Blaze - you get two shots without delay, that's a major strength. Weakness is it's 2 shots then an ungodly long reload time.Winchester - holds 5 shots (like the Mosin) and is a similar experience to the old Mosin+LRS in effect. However, you've got the bolt delay between each shot and to me it seems much louder than the Blaze.If I've got a hunting scope I'd take either, if I had both and had to choose I'd be wishy washy about it but I had better success with the Blaze because you take one shot, see where it hits, and immediately take a corrected shot. I seemed to have potato aim with the Winchester, and I'm not sure why. Actually I had trouble hitting much of anything with the Winchester now that I think of it.

Are you talking about the front steps of the guard building(s)? They're all like that since the .57 build release. Lookup where they are online for a quick gear up, they're in many places on the map... until they fix / change it!

BE updated twice in a row on me yesterday requiring my game to restart both times.

I rattled off a few 500-600 meter shots yesterday with Blaze + Hunting Scope. The Blaze is superior to the Winchester imo because you get two consecutive shots. If you don't panic and make them count, it's awesome. It's reload time for a mere 2 bullets is painful though... ... my sniping run ended after I got too comfortable and had fired too many shots from the same location. I was eventually snuck up on and killed, but my new favorite location is obscure and not where you normally expect snipers to be and has a great view range.

Everything is cheaper there, including boob jobs and sex change operations... ... or so I'm told.

It depends on how you view the game. Are you a Counter Strike or CoD straight FPS player who feels no remorse about killing anyone they see? Or are you a MMO player who is used to working with others and understands the consequences of losing your coprse/gear? If you're a straight KOS player, then it won't take long. If you're someone who values player interaction and doesn't view everyone as a moving target, it's going to take some time. If it's the latter then my advice is to gear up and play on a low pop server and practice on zombies... snipe them, get them chasing you, fight them in close quarters, learn how to shoot from the hip and also taking careful aim, learn how (or how not to) shoot after running when the sway is huge, etc.

Yeah, I thought I'd read that snow wasn't planned for SA proper, but that mods might give it a whack. Chernarus seems to be in late fall from the foliage and temperature, so winter clothing can be helpful. Recall a few months back when they made some changes to the temperature and everyone was getting hypothermic within minutes of spawning and freezing to death? That winter clothing will come in handy for servers set on colder levels.

Yeah, that building and the police station are notorious for things dropped on the floor ending up out front next to the front door or something. They're a pain if you have to put something down.

Servers with population 5 or less scare the crap out of me, because somehow I'll run into every single person there. I log into full 49/50 servers and often I see noone. It's the strangest thing!
