Anyone using an alpha anything is testing it by definition. DayZ is a zombie survival game, not a survival vehicle game. Thus it makes sense to have zombies in some incarnation present and beginning to refine them little by little (navmesh collision update, added variety such as hoppers, respawn changes, etc). As I understand or imagine it must be - for vehicles there's things that are more important or that must come first, such as persistence, engine updates, etc. I'm as excited to fly around on a bicycle as much as the next guy, but it's going to be ready when it's ready. Back in May and also from a roadmap discussed by Dean at Rezzed I thought I heard/saw vehicles slated for Q3, but I've not been keeping up and don't know if that's still on track of behind. My guess is that it's slipped. I always interpret those plans as rough and subject to change depending on a lot of factors.

Maybe 2 weeks ago I started a fire and for some reason got stuck over top of it in the "making fire" animation, the whole time I was getting burned. By the time I could finally move my screen was grey and incredibly blurry. I didn't have much food at the time, but I was 5 minutes from Elektro. I tried looting all of Elektro and not a drop of food. Headed over to Cherno and it was like a giant buffet spread - after wasting time scouring all of Elektro it ended up taking me nearly 2 hours before I'd gotten engergized, hydrated, and from healing to healthy.

I put it in my sig as well so people might see it. :lol:

This scares the crap out of me. I'm already scared shitless to go up and down stairs in fire stations, aircraft control towers, etc. Put ladders in those drawings and it'll make me feel much safer! :lol:

Are you talking about the wait timing upon trying to change servers? You're not visible and vulnerable that whole time, but you are visible and vulnerable for up to a few seconds when you're actually being logged into the server. It's super critical to camp somewhere safe. If the server restarts and you're in a bad spot like the middle of a town street where zombies are likely to be when you log back in, well, that's just bad luck at this point. Again, you're unlikely to get hit by a zombie before you're fully logged in and can move - that would be extremely bad karma.

This idea is neat. There's an additive where upon the server coming back up maybe they don't happen right away, maybe they happen staggered every few minutes. It would be awesome the mad dash of people heading to them and the competition and frenzy it could create. Very neat concept.

I like playing too much to try perma-permadeath. I actually ran into a group of people a few days ago who like starting as bambis each time they play and were giving all their gear away and asking to be killed before they logged out. DayZ is cool in that there are so many different ways to go about surviving in Chernarus with various emphasis on either trying to live or taking risks for added fun.

I can understand with the cold changes and with the shoe degradation coming, and I swear the hunger part has ramped up over the past few updates, getting across the world to reconnect with your friends after death (without dying again along the way) could take some time, but I still agree with everyone who believes it's lame and not the way to go. Or as orlok says people who kill themselves are too pedestrian. :lol:

OP handled this situation correctly. Being a hero and saving people from themselves is an honorable way to play... it's almost as hilarious as someone who wants to live and cuffing them and force feeding them disinfectant spray! :beans:
