Rule #1 of DayZ - never assume you're alone. Someone is always watching. Can't count how many times there's only been 1 or maybe 2 other people on the entire server and I run into them (and in the oddest places).

Those French matches - if they can't light those stoves or are so crappy no wonder the French are so skinny! I have a solution, but the Devs will need to make an enhancement - use duct tape to attach the standard kitchen matches to the long French matches, essentially making the standard kitchen matches longer. Either that run around the block holding it between your legs while wearing corduroy pants...

Heroes, Bandits, KOS types, etc are all important in making the DayZ community what it is. They're a necessary evil, I just wish some people were more creative about it.

OP never watched MacGyver... Lone Wolves could and would thrive, but they'd be rare and valuable.

M4's are for hackers and dbags. You'd be better off finding a more powerful and reasonable firearm (if you live long enough).

I was down around Elektro/Cherno area last night - every boat I checked had boonie hats. Like, a dozen or so in and around each boat. I could have looted about 60 boonie hats in about 5 minutes if I wanted. I think you ran into the equal but opposite problem with netting spawning all hyper.

What is your bandwidth when you do a speedtest?

I definitely found hockey sticks last night, a few of them, in random houses down near Cherno and also in Elektro.

What You're going to get a lot of help with that attitude, and possibly attention from the mods.

I *sometimes* leave notes, but I nearly always have a note on me in case I die or someone kills me. It's a note that basically welcomes whoever finds me to my gear unless of course they killed me, in which case the other part of it curses them and wishes harm to their genitals.

There's only 2 uses I see in that, and I've used it for both: Were you just playing with someone but didn't get their steam name and want to reconnect? That feature gives you a chance to possibly find them if they're public and allow you to message them. It's useful if you're reporting hacker activity. Their name should at least show up in that list, which is better than nothing. If everyone reported that list when they ran into people abusing the game with the known exploits we've all seen first hand patterns would appear and you'd likely be able to make a bigger dent in the problem.

This happens more often in the aircraft control tower and fire stations where there are certain types of steep stairs, but it can happen in other places. I had it happen last night after getting off a ladder on the ground. There's long outstanding issues where *apparently* something like the server and client get out of sync (desync) and it's perceived your vertical position moved so much that the game things you fell (or something like that). The result can be as little as damaged gear to as severe as a fracture or even death. This issue has been around in various forms for as long as I can remember. Check this ticket and vote it up. I'm on a mission to find a shiny new (or rusty old) sword. I kinda have a role playing itch to be Connor MacLeod and play the role of the Highlander, pretending to chop people's heads off so there can be only one. In that mission, I'd only ever visited Devil's Castle. I didn't realize there were so many castles! Black Mountain Castle Castle (Svergino) Devils Castle Old Fields Castle Rog Castle Zub CastleWhich of these have people had the most luck in finding swords? I scoured Devil's Castle from top to bottom last night (granted on only one server, I refused to start server hopping). Any tips for finding swords would be appreciated!

40 hours? ... that's barely getting off the coast. I have 900+ hours into DayZ with a full time job, 2 kids, and a wife to keep happy. In college I put somewhere around 200 days (not hours, days) into Everquest and still managed to be an RA, play varsity athletics, participate in Greek life, and graduate with a B average. Quitting with 40 hours is ... well it's like taking a sip of a coke and throwing it out complaining how you're concerned it will make you fat and give you diabetes and asking everyone else how they managed to survive a sip or more. Sheesh.

I think the plan is to implement pooping before the thermal scope. That way if someone drops a Cleveland steamer on someone's tomato patch at night at least you'll be able to spot it... ... I'm joking, of course, on both fronts. Why all the Rocket hate? This sounds a lot like someone who's not been actively playing or involved in the early access alpha effort.
