Does DayZ need aeiral transport?
Death By Crowbar replied to Sike (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Even the addition of the V3S (when it goes up hills) has been huge because you can fly around the map and gear up and pick friends up in a way that wasn't possible before. Aerial transport will also further change and enhance the game. I do think it may be worth while to allow server admins to have some control over certain things - I could see a private server where they wanted it legacy StandAlone with no vehicles. It's going to be interesting as additional vehicles get added... -
That will happen a lot. Was it a snipe? Cold blood on the street with an ax? Did someone double cross you?
-
Hunting in DayZ, lol. That bug where the animals would run in circles was the best!

Room on the top floor often has a gun, and a store room on the first floor nearly always has food. That's about all I go into them for.
-
I always just build a fire. 6 sticks + (1 rag or bandage or doesn't paper work too?) + matches is all that's needed. I take a load off for maybe 1-2 minutes and I'm warm and dry. Wring stuff out if it allows you to. If I'm playing on a server with a lot of rain and I don't have a raincoat and such sometimes I'll make room and take the fireplace kit with me.

Not pigeonholed, but some people read and think and try to remember. I didn't agree with your stance, but I respected and remembered it. Welcome back. :P

randomspawn is one I've often seen write things of the opinion that basically if you're not engaging in PVP the game has limited value. Albeit that's changed a lot as additional features have been added. Just know that there's a segment of the community who have killed hardly anyone and there's some who kill everyone they see (and a LOT who live in between).

Beg for them to end your miserable life! Just kidding! Good luck survivor, hope you find a way out of it.

This is good - you've gotten a taste of getting well geared and comfortable. What I expect will happen is you'll lose it all in a most unfortunate and unexpected way - be it death on some stairs, a zombie gets the best of you when you're not completely paying attention, or a player snipes you or something. It's bound to happen eventually. As you're looting up and learning what buildings have what and what towns are where, think about if you were to do it all over again how you might go about it if you spawned near there again. When I started, I was super cautious, but eventually I relaxed a bit and tried to interact with people more. That's when things got really interesting... or frustrating depending on the situation. That's when the game truly begins!

Well, this is one route you could take that's likely safer than anything else. It keeps you inland and has you hit up enough towns (and Rog Castle, maybe you'll find a sword!). By the end of this run you should have more stuff than you can possibly carry, and you'll likely have a hand gun, a mosin with LRS, SKS, ammo, and everything else you could need. Elektro is basically straight south from where you are, so if you find a compass you could actually simply head south, double tap W, and just keep running until you hit the ocean, where you end up will likely be somewhere in Elektro.

How many people are on your server? If it's not terribly populated, you've got a very good chance of just heading north to Dubro, then to Krasnostav, and on to Cernaya Polana to meet up with your friend. It's not that long of a run. There's plenty of loot in those 3 towns. Krasnostav even has a piano house, hospital, and police station. Cernaya Polana has a piano house and a fire station (amongst other stuff). That's a popular route but nowhere near as popular as the coast. Even on a more populated server it's possible to do that run and not see anyone. The key to victory here is finding a compass so you at least know which direction you're facing. For your blood - eat and drink everything you can find until you're stuffed. You may find some saline along the way in Krasnostav, that's your best bet. I'd help you if I were near, I'm over by Vybor right now.

I see what it was - the Everon one looks different between DayZ and Arma. This is what it looks like in DayZ StandAlone as of about 2 nights ago:

Contest - first person to throw a grenade through the half moon on the door wins a prize! -
"Spam press z" is what I hear a lot of people saying lately. Is that the same thing Steak and Potatoes is talking about and is there any science behind it?

I actually think I got a screenshot of one the other night that's not on here. I'll double check when I get home from work!

Your problem in June 2014 was all of the spawns had been moved north east - you'd find most of the people around Berezino, Svet, Novo, and NEAF (before it was nerfed). Your problem now is those spawns have now been redistributed around again, but the majority of the people can typically now be found in Elektro and the surrounding areas of Cherno and Kamyshovo. Balota and Berezino are the next two most likely places. However, on a server with 30+ people there is always, always someone in Elektro.

I feel like I'm always being watched... and I usually am.
Death By Crowbar posted a topic in General Discussion
I'm a little paranoid in game. My motto is "never assume you're alone", and with 1000+ hours I know it's true. I got freaked the F out last night when nearly a dozen times I swore someone was watching me, I'd turn and see someone running the other way or ducking behind a building. I'm not sure if there was a clan stalking me, someone trolling me, or I just had odd luck. Over a span of maybe an hour and a half what seemed like every few minutes when I turned I'd see someone in an odd position taking cover. I kept moving south through a few towns including Vybor, and it kept happening. I even chased a guy from behind a hay bail just to confirm I wasn't seeing ghosts, when I got to within 100 meters of him he ran (he seemed only armed with a fire extinguisher). Maybe that side of the map was really busy on the server I was on? It seemed like a bunch of different people, not 1 or 2. I wasn't getting shot at though, which was weird. Anyone else go through bouts of super paranoia? I think it's gotta be worse for those who don't straight PVP all the time and play the role of the survivor more than the aggressor, which is what I usually play. I'll stand and fight, but finding a fight is usually not my first priority. -
Some ideas! We should gather up all of the flares and chem lights that we can find and decorate the island. We could also have a tactical bacon eating contest. First to pukes wins! Also for spring, someone should farm the living crap out of it and make fresh crops!

Goddamn that bird... I cannot tell you HOW many times I saw it out of the corner of my eye and thought it was a player while sniping. Also amusing was once I was waaaaay out to sea and I thought I was seeing flying fish jumping. Turned out to be the bird flying mostly underwater, I assume because it flies relative to the ground and the water was very deep.

You don't cut down many trees do you? Well I do... and a chainsaw would be better so I wouldn't have to ruin my axes.
-
I hear eating raw human meat is a magic cure all. Give that a shot...

The first thing you should do in DayZ is die. Get it out of your system and get used to it, it'll likely happen a lot as you're learning the ropes. Trust noone... but if you do find someone you can trust that's a good day - but don't forget not to trust them anyway.

My suggestions: Avoid the coast. Kitted guys are killed first by PVP players and bambis may zerg you for a quick gear up. With only 111 hours you've not seen the world yet. Visit DayZDB.com and check the map. Some suggestions: Visit a castle or two - maybe you'll find a sword! (low risk) Visit a military base or two. (high risk) Visit some of the inland towns, get familiar with them. Maybe find a V3S while you're at it! (medium risk, high risk of dying due to V3S bugs) Try hunting, making a fire, and eating something other than beans and potatoes. (low risk) Search for a helicopter crash. (medium risk) Check out Green Mountain. (medium risk) You could also go full on KOS and murder a bunch of people. (high risk) You could find people who are more PVP and play as a hero/avenger. (high risk)Just some ideas. Remember - trust noone, and when you're well geared you look like a Thanksgiving dinner to those without gear.

If you die, and go back to your body - you could eat yourself. *mind blown*
