No, not at all general. Making games is not easy for that matter. I should know... I was never able to make one.
-
Shit, you found me.

Try the emulated Dreamcast version of Soul Reaver. I played it not long ago and I enjoyed it all the way though I already finished when it came out in 1999 for the PS One. The DC version has more polygons a way better textures.

Visibility must be independent of gamma/brightness settings. Because I could compromise my daylight settings in order to see well at night. I must be solved the right way. That is, if you aren't supposed to be able to see into the shadows, pumping up the brightness and gamma should only result in you seeing the shadow in a lighter shade of gray, but with not contrasting objects. In short, make the dark places completely obscured (solid).

An attention whore? On a forum full of nerds who are not here looking for attention? I don't think so. It sounded more like you were looking for convincing to either quit DayZ for a while or to stay.

DayZ's Missed Connections (Find Your Combat Logger!)
Corto replied to pacific_coast's topic in General Discussion
Actually, if I wanted to hop from server to server to loot, I would go out in the forest where nobody can see me, log out and then join another server. So, I would say that most of the times, when somebody logged out in a military facility or a police station, they just did it out of ignorance. The logic being used here to decide if somebody is a server hopper is invalid. At any rate, if they got shot by somebody waiting for them in, seemingly obvious, spots for log in killers, they had it coming. They should know better. -
And you need our approval?

Hiding Bodies Mechanic Is Currently Very Unrealistic
Corto replied to [email protected]'s topic in Suggestions
Burying them is overkill. To be able to drag bodies on the other hand is a must. Not only to hide the body, but also to loot it more safely. -
No need for a pack of wolves. I stumbled upon a herd of cows one night and I almost shit my pants anyway. And it got worst when they starting making that noise to alert the whole herd. I don't know if it would have made a difference, but I stuck to walking close to trees in case the started running towards me.

It's been made clear that the solution is not going after the symptoms but to root out the problem. Playing at night is a tad unrealistic right now since moonlight propagates like it's sunlight at the moment. Somewhere between completely dark and completely clear is the answer. We should be able to see in open spaces, but visibility distance should be greatly reduced. Also you cannot see into the shadows where moonlight does not penetrate (buildings and forests).
-
There should be more fog at night, so you can see clearly around you, but you can't peek into the shadows of a building or a forest. Also, as long as they don't fix the light beam going through the walls, using a flashlight is suicide. I was able to stalk a guy in low visibility conditions only because he was using a weapon flashlight. I pretty sure he never realized how close I was following him. Again, I've done some night hiking and once your eyes adjust, you can see fairly clear. You won't be able to spot animals unless they look back at you, but still, you can see shadows moving around.

Dude, you change of heart makes me so happy. Honestly. My first posts in here were an exchange of sarcasm about how pve would ruin this game and everybody's experience. But now you seem more open minded and open to the fact that fooling around and relaxing while playing a game could be actual, well, fun. Cheers!

I many cultures fucking oneself is seeing as a nice thing. In fact, I think I'm going to fuck myself in a moment. Just out of boredom.

Perhaps he's suggesting that they include the method "open the can with a concrete wall" in the game. They should also fix the spilling when you open a can with a combat knife or a screwdriver. I have opened several cans with a knife and haven't spilled a drop.

This is getting old. Nobody wants you to play the game the way you want to play the game. Everybody wants you to play it "hard core" against "hard core" players and suffer for it. This is a realistic "zombie apocalypse" (give a minute, I need something to clear my tears) simulator. Because going out there and survive against zombies is too damn risky, we need this game to be as "real" as possible. Stop asking for the easy button. PS: I think it would be nice to be able to run around alone, or with your friends, on a LAN server and come up with crazy stuff to build or test crazy stuff with the game. All of this without the risk of a jerk ruining your party.
-
So that's why night servers are always empty? Because you can see as clear as in day time. I didn't know. I'll stop now. Nobody's going to ruin the "hard core" experience for anyone.
-
It makes sense to be at pitch black if you are inside a building with no windows, but when you're out in the open and the moon is high, once your eyes adjust you can quite well at night. Now, if you turn a flashlight on, then you will only be able to see what the cone of light is pointing at and the rest looks like a dark tunnel. Again, this is what I have experienced at night while hiking. It's always the same "hardcore" experience versus what feels realistic with this game. People don't seem to make up their minds exactly what they want from this game.
-
Care to explain why is it that consider the gamma and brightness setting an issue at night? You don't want to pump them up to play at night so you feel like you are at a disadvantage there? I don't understand why does this concern you.
-
Really? I would shoot them on sight.
-
The problem is not the problem, but your attitude towards the problem. Now, seriously, there's nothing to do about it because it is not an issue.
-
There is no advantage if everybody can do it. If it wasn't for the video options, playing at night would be impossible even with a flashlight. I did some night hiking in my life and, even when you can't see as clear as when you tweak your video settings, it isn't like when you don't do it either. They either make the moon light more real or we are going to have to keep modifying the video settings.

Do Not Use The RIS Handgaurd It Destroys The M4's Accuracy
Corto replied to leefriendfield's topic in General Discussion
So, having the bayonet as a merely aesthetic accessory is not a good idea. Damn, it looks so Crimson Guard from Cobra with the bayonet on. -
Do Not Use The RIS Handgaurd It Destroys The M4's Accuracy
Corto replied to leefriendfield's topic in General Discussion
I noticed that just by comparing the swinging I got with each type of hand guard. I thought it was placebo, and since I don't want to give up my flashlight attached to the RIS, I didn't change it to the MP hand guard at the end. Now this confirms what I was suspecting. I'll make the switch as soon as I get a pristine an MP hand guard. -
Internet if the perfect place for those who like to test other's limit without risking losing all their teeth in the process. I love it when I get trolled or insulted over a forum, then I show up in a forum meeting and all those who seemed rather tough now seem really friendly. It's just how internet is. It gives the chance to everyone to be badasses

We can't get along and be respectful while sharing thoughts on a forum (where we are all equals and there's no need to be rude or "hardcore") and you expect people to get along in a game where killing you and taking all your gear is an integral part of the gameplay? On one hand let me tell you that I wish the same as you, on the other let me tell you that you leave a dream.
