DayZ term: Bambi is kinda hilarious now that I think about it
Eight Ball replied to crazyandlazy's topic in General Discussion
And who are you exactly ? God ? What makes you think because you say something everyone else have to agree ? Wheter you like it or not cannibalism is something the human being has done since he's on this planet. It's something as common to us as having sex or killing each other. We're not doing it right now but it wouldn't take much for us to get back to it. -
Or maybe what you consider as the best gear actually isn't ? You're alot less likely to get KoS if you look like a relatively fresh spawn than if you look like a fully geared player, especially when playing solo. You might not like it but this is the DayZ reality and this is something you need to take into account in your definition of the best gear. The best gear isn't the one that gives you the more fire power, it's the one that keeps you alive. You tought the best way to stay alive was to look like John Rambo, well...obviously not. So you can either wait for a hypothetic reduction of KoS or just adapt yourself.

Hi there, What if people were given the opportunity to make babies ? "Crafting" a baby would be far from easy but 2 character from the opposite sex could decide to gather together in a tent a make a baby. Leaving the tent the male character would have a big smile or his face and the female character would be pregnant She will need more food and water and will be less agile. After some time an option will appear allowing the mother to give birth. Once again back in the tent (can't see anything) and here it is ! A beautiful baby item ! At this point he needs to be carried and he doesn't do anything beside eating, drinking and crying if you don't take good care of him. But if you do an option to create a new playable character will eventually appear. You'll have to choice to keep the baby or create a new "child slot" on the server and let one of your friend spawn into it or someone you don't know ! I know such a feature could bring a lot of controversy but just think about it for one minute. Because no matter what the developers add into the game, be it hunting, fishing, base building and the need to work together to get vehicles working it will always promote para-milatry groups vs para-military groups gameplay. If you were to protect your pregnant girlfriend you'd probably act a lot different than if you were with a bunch of friends looking for some loot.

Nothing in DayZ is simulated to that extend, don't see why pregnancy should be. Just like everything else it could be simplified so it remains fun to play : 1. you enter a tent with a character of the opposite sex 2. Both of you press the "make baby" option 3. You leave the tent, the woman is pregnant. It doesn't need to show all the different steps of pregnancy, she just need more food, more water and can't sprint. That's it, everything else she still able to do it. No vomiting,no sickness no bitching all the time, just like she use to be exept the little belly. 4. After some time she has the option to give birth. Again no need to turn it into a "Giving birth in a third world country in the middle of a zombie apocalypse without proper medical care" simulator. She enters a tent, press the option "give birth", leaves the tent and voila. The baby item is in it. It's an item, it doesn't go anywhere, it doesn't have any animations. It just requires food and water. 5. If you take good care of your baby you have the possibility to create a teenager slot on the server. Now why the hell would someone become a child in DayZ ? It doesn't make much sense. Except if it's associated with an aging system for your character. Seeing the way DayZ goes (the recent interview by Mr Hall in PC gamer) and how some stuff will be extremely hard to get, it might become interresting to start "earlier". A teenager wouldn't be able to wear and carry everything an adult could but he wouldn't be helpless either. Of course implementing such a feature right now would be absurd. But in the future it could find its place among other features. Anyway, this seems way too controversial so lets get back to "add moar guns!!!" and "hairstyle plzzz" suggestions. Those greatly broaden the scope or role playing in Dayz.

My bad, I was in a hurry and didn't even took the time to re-read myself. I was talking about death vs birth and not love vs hate, wrong formulation. Anyway, it doesn't solve at all the controversy problem. It actually make it worst, not only you'd get to shoot kids but also pregnant women. That might be a little bit too far for some. On the other hand, the doors it opens in terms of role playing and the depth it gives to players interactions and bonding, in my eyes, largely outweight any controversy.

What if instead of spawning as a child, players would actually need to "make" them ? There are already male and female characters ingame but so far only one of the fundamental aspect of our life is represented. Love is something completely absent of the game mechanics. You could choose to meet with another character for the opposite sex and...well...have babies ! No need to add unnecessary controversy, you wouldn't see anything. You'd need, say, one of those small tent, you'd enter it with another player and that's it ! That's how babies are done in DayZ :) Now the female character would get pregnant for some time. She would need more food, would run slowler and be less agile. After a while a baby would born. At first he could be just represented as an item you constantly need to carry. If you take good care of him, feed him, keep him warm, etc he would eventually become a playable character. This would open a "child" slot in the server. The parents could either choose who is spawning into their child or not.
