Don't really care. Find a way to do it that isn't completely fake.
-
If shooting is made falsely difficult by a random cone of fire, however, it just flat out isn't authentic. You never have to worry about someone being a good shot. You have no reason to practice and become a better shot yourself. That would be a major failing of the game, in my opinion.

It may be a clever script, but it can't stay a clever script as it will just be one more tool for hackers. It would have to be embedded in the game or handled server side, which is where my concern kicks in. Any delays in triggering the "visibility" of the player would be worse than what we have now.

You are missing the point. I'm not complaining if they do it well. If they don't do it well, however, it will impact both first and third person. That is, if there is something that falsely triggers that you can't see someone, it will make them pop in unexpectedly on third or first equally. I'm not arguing against the solve, I'm just saying it better be really well done or I'd rather keep what we have.

Choose your own adventure books are generally 2nd person.
-
Technically, a person can only experience first person themselves, but we aren't talking about that. We are talking about game/literary mechanics. First Person: I went to the store. Second Person: You went to the store. Third Person: Valadain went to the store. Fourth or Zero Person: One goes to the store.

Honestly, someone already suggested it over in the suggestion forum, they just need to put null spawn zones over particular areas. If you try to log into one of these zones, it moves you randomly to the perimeter of the zone. It won't stop hopping entirely, but it will provide some assurance to people legitimately looting that they won't get jumped from a room they just cleared.

Great, aside from those who might be getting kicked for low ping, lets assume it is accurate. Now how do you put that name to a face in game?

I'll bring the shotgun, lime, and shovel. Wait! Chocolate. I mean Chocolate....

No worries, but now you have to try to explain how a game could use fourth person perspective. Go.

Remember that creepy radio mystery? Here is the real-life radio station of it, abandoned, in Povarovo, Russia. So much DayZ in this....

I'm not sure, I don't remember posting that. -
And that was the day the entire justice league died to kryptonite-arsenic laced sandwiches. Nobody suspects Aquaman. That's his real power.
-
I don't disagree that the knock-out mechanic with fists is a bit wrong as it currently exists. Sure, you could knock someone out with one punch, but if you ran about and randomly hit a hundred strangers, you probably wouldn't get one. Particularly if they were expecting you to hit them. That said though, there isn't much excuse for letting people get that close to you in the first place.
-
That about sums it up. So silly to have such arguments, when clearly Aquaman could beat everyone.
-
You cheated!

Не обращайте внимания на станции цифры, они ничего не значат. -
No, second person is if you only saw your character through the eyes of another character. It doesn't make much sense in a game.

So, I followed the link and then found the radio feed. Listened for about ten minutes. I now speak fluent Russian and have a distaste for capitalism... Is that normal? -
I think you'll find threads like these get more aggressive responses because there are so many people out there suggesting on how we can modify behavior through game mechanics. It just isn't necessary. Incorporate the reality into your RP and move on. People are washing up on shore starving. Some of them want your help and some of them want to punch you and take your stuff. I don't think that is incredibly far from reality. Desperate people do desperate things.

Yes, some people are just natural shots. Some learn hunting. Some learn at the range. Some learn by having parents that make them learn to shoot. Some shoot competitively. I've seen first time shooters pick up the gun and shoot extremely well. I've seen first time shooters pick up the gun and shoot terribly. I've seen long-time shooters that still have trouble keeping it on the paper. Not everyone is a fumbling noob with a gun that isn't or wasn't in the military. Some people in the military never get any kind of decent marksmen training.
-
Military training has almost nothing to do with whether a person can shoot or not.

It is like the internet gamer version of the National Enquirer. Eventually people will grow up and realize there are far more important things out there.

Smart people, given the opportunity to do so, log off in a safe location. I'm certainly not going to leave the baby crying or any other urgent situation to wait while I find a safe place to log out. I accept the in-game danger and log out as I have my priorities in order. And I do accept that I very well may die the next time I log in. But if you feel morally justified for shooting me as a "server hopper", you are just deluding yourself as I have about 6 servers total in my server history. Most were when I was first starting and kept hitting the black-screen-of-perpetual-darkness.
-
Just out of curiosity, how do people magically differentiate between a server hopper and someone who just logged out in a bad spot and is logging back in for a session? I myself stick to a single server for long periods of time, but have had to log out in awkward spots due to real life things coming up.

In general, the accuracy of guns in this game is pretty jacked at the moment.
