I like that they seem to make progress regarding the server performance! And more Zämbies, yeah! But on the other hand, I would have liked it more if they started with respawning loot instead of zombies. If they implement new items we should test, it is not a good idea to make it even harder to obtain such items. Well, we will see how this works out when they implement more Zeds and them respawning. I don't think it will make it in the upcoming patch tomorrow. @Rudette: I see your point with the zombie-loot. But two things: - As far as I understood, the "Zombies" in DayZ aren't zombies in the sense of dead and revived bodys, but more of the infected humans in 28 Days and Weeks later. So, only the missing personal hygiene could be a problem... but that is a problem regarding the survivors, too. :) - If the zombies / infected have some canned tuna or beans or something alike on them from time to time, why not eat it? As long as the lids are still closed of course.

I Died upon logging in, and now it won't let me respawn :(

You don't lose your charakter more or less often as you do on regular servers. The only difference by now is that 3rd-Person-View is forbidden and removed on hardcore servers. There may be some more differences in the future between regular and hardcore, but for now it is only the view. And before you ask: If you don't like the head bobing in first person view, you can lower it or turn it off in the settings under the option "head bob". :) -
Hi, you and your friends should check your inventory. There could be some items which are "flickering". The textures / skins might make problems. You can then drop the flickering items and run away for a few hundred meters and the fps should get better. You can also try and change server, but it may lead to some other items flickering and producing the same problem. It can also appear inside citys, where lots of loot spawns with the probability of "flickering" skin. As far as I know, the problem is known by the devs and they are working on it.

As I said, cannibalism would be the thing, that makes the most sense from all the sick ideas given. ;) And yes, didn't played or read it, just watching the show. Two episodes and I'm done with the third season. Was much better than the second season. :) Might get my hands on the games, when there is a steam sale or something.

Same as for me, thanks for your input. I am not even sure, rocket and his team are aware of this (no loot in those buildings). I think I read somewhere he played the game in a stream with a fan or reporter or someone like this and it seems he went into every house, even those buildings we talk about. Maybe the missing spawn has the same reason as the missing spawn in the tents, even though, the buidlings didn't spawn anything while the tents still had loot.
-
Maybe we are talking about different buildings, maybe I'm wrong, but I never found ANYTHING in those houses. Expiriences may differ. ;)

To be honest, I don't mind the 300 second ban a bit. Got dropped from servers, changed it myself, got kicked... 300 Seconds to wait? Okay, cool, time to "use the bathroom", turn around and watch the TV or alt-tab out and plan the next route to go. Seriously, I know it is a pain in the ass to get kicked from a server twice and have to wait... but then again: You wander around in this game for hours and hours and nothing happens till you get shot from nowhere and start all over and run around for hours and hours till you get shot from nowhere and start all over... And you still are mad about wating 5 Minutes to join a server, even though this prevents other players from killing you with cheap tricks like ghosting? Don't get me wrong, I don't mean to mock you, but you should think about it this way. :)

You sure? Played friday with a couple of friends. Outran one of them till I told him the "secret". Same thing with a random survivor on the street at the coast on saturday. Ran up to him, past him and told him about the fist-thing over direct chat. He then could keep up with me. From my observation, I think it still works. :)

Loot diversity? I don't think it is the idea for this game to have everyone have his weapon of choice 1 hour into the game. How to manage this? Diversify weapons. Found a M4? Lucky you! Do you find 5.56mm yet. Nope. But lots of 7.62mm. Searching a bit more, finding a Blaser. Dropping the M4 for a gun with actual ammo? Yeah, wanted the SKS anyways, the Blaser is a good thing till I find one. Hey there is a Mosin... it has a bigger ammo capacity then my trusty Blaser? Okay, fine, lets change it out. Strolling around, find nothing for hours but a few bullets for my wanted SKS. And then, there it is, a SKS, beautiful! Dropping the Mosin, running to the SKS... BLAM! Shot to the head, dead before reaching it. And now you add some other weapons and ammunition of different variety in the story above and there you have it... "long-term motivation". Pretty much the same thing Diablo or World of Warcraft offers, but wrapped in a totally different game. I think that is the idea behind different weapons like the "weak" (in comparison) Blaser B95. BTW: It looks really sweet and will be a cool gun when animals will be implemented and you can use it for its intended use: Hunting.

I don't use stairs and ladders anymore.
-
Rumored, yes. I don't think this will be implemented. Along with hanging, raping, tearing eyes out and ears off and some other stupidly sick shit, some strange people on this forums demand. I don't think it was in the Mod either and it would bring some strange reviews and even more sick people to this. Not sure if this is what rocket (and in some ways Bohemia Interactive) intended to do. But whatever, cannibalism would be the most "sane and logical" thing from the lots of insane shit people suggest. :)

@fps drop: I think this ist connected to some issues with the skins of some items. I read from other players, the had frame drops, looke in their inventory, saw some items "flickering", droped them, ran away and suddenly their fps increased again. Some other players said, they changed the server and the flickering was gone. Other players said, they changed server and other items flickered, leading to fps drops. As far as I can tell, the dev team is on it and works for a solution. @Aruze: I think it is possible to die from a bullet without hearing it (bug / feature? I don't know). And if I remember correctly, the "wall" on top of the firestation is lowered / broken on one side and this one is facing the sniper hill. But this is wildly speculative and it could be just another bug, that killed you. -
Stay away from human flesh! It's a no-no! ;)

After playing my first hours in DayZ, I bought a can of Heinz Beans and ate them from the can while watching a DayZ Let's play. After playing DayZ, I think about looking for my gas mask and ballistic helmet in the cellar... ;)
-
I would like to see the breathing clouds disapper as soon as someone wears a respirator, gas mask or something similiar (wearing bandanas like a bandit's mask anyone?).

This is mostly the result of a populated server combined with long timespans between restarts. I once was on a populated server, stepped into the first house on the coast, walked into the kitchen, found a pack of cereals, a bag of rice, two cans of food and a bottle of water. On another occasion, I joined a low-population server and found nearly nothing till I was really far inland (and went boldly where no man went before... upstairs and climbed ladders and such, other players seek to avoid). There is no real advice I can give you on this, except for the mostly common: - Ignore the brown/wooden houses and the buildings where you can only go to the second floor (by stairs on the side of the building), there is no loot in them at the moment, they are a waste of your time. - Go inland as soon as possible. - Raising your fists and then double tap and holding W allows you to run a little bit faster then running without raising your fists. It is not much, but in the long run (pun intended) it saves you time. (This can be seen as an exploit, if you want to use this is up to you). - Join low pop servers to find starting items. You can join a more populated server in your next gaming session. Some of these tipps are kind of... cheaty. On the other hand, without respawning loot and KoS'ing fucks everywhere, some questionable things have to be done to enjoy this game without killing the fun for others.

A buddy found one, it was green and looks really nice.

No in-game option to do that? Hm, would be a good thing for an alpha... Anyways, thanks and have some beans! :) -

Another issue, somebody else got this? I tied a player with handcuffs. I then used keys to release him. Keys and handcuffs appeared in my inventory, all good. The handcuffed player started to take his hands of his back for a second but halfway trough this animation, he put it on his back again. From then on the player said, he cant run, cant use items and all in all, he still seems like he was restrained. from our perspective, he was crouching while he said, he already stood up an we saw him struggle against the already removed handcuffs. He tried for a while, then we told him to log offand back on again. He did and after he reappeared again from logging in, all was back to normal, no ghost-handcuffs, no struggling, normal play. Anyone else had this problem? We didn't tested this again yesterday, but maybe we will again. Bonus Noob-Question: How do you guys see your fps in-game? -
Remember, that is just my interpretation of things, maybe it will work in another way. We will see. :) But thank you for the beans!

You're welcome. :)

There is something in the options called "head bob" or something similiar. Lower this or turn it off. I guess this should reduce the sway or stop it.
-
I think the current system is fine. The only thing I would wish for is a "Zombie Factor". If you are targeted by an Infected, you shouldn't be able to log out. I guess you are in someway "flagged" by the AI if you get the "aggro" of a zombie. And since they are broken right now in terms of targeting, aggro range and wall clipping, this would be nice to have, at least till the final AI is in place. I don't care for people running into me while logging out, sitting in some bushes or inside a random house or shed should be enough to hide from "human eyes". But the all-seeing eyes of buggy Infected are the things that worry me. And I don't like sitting around for a minute to see if it is save to log off or if there is a Zambie chasing me from two villages ago and now slowly catching up to feast on my logged-out and idle ass. If the AI works like putting a "flag" on a player, if the Zombie is attacking, this should be like two lines of code, I guess.

@Hulkmaster Recently, rocket added some new things to the list oft the experimentel branch. You might wanna look into it. Something along the lines of "fixed a problem, where damage from a bullet was spread over all items for every item, instead of items hit taking damage and reduce damage from the bullet". Or at least this is like I understand it. Seems like some stuff will still be destroyed if you shoot someone in the backpack, as an example. But not everything he has on him anymore.
